Chapter 44 - BOOK 2 — CHAPTER 12: BREAK POINT ANALYSIS

The moment the system began analyzing break points, the air changed again.

Not heavier.

Not lighter.

More precise.

Mira frowned slightly. "…It feels like it's looking at us differently."

Ashar nodded once. "…It is."

Eryx stood still, eyes forward.

"…It's no longer guessing," he said quietly.

A pause.

"…It's mapping."

Silence dropped.

Then—

the space in front of them fractured into thin layers again.

But this time, each layer had structure.

Each one showed a variation of Eryx.

Different actions.

Different outcomes.

Different failures.

Mira stepped back instantly. "…Why are there so many of him?"

Ashar's voice lowered. "…Prediction branches."

Mira swallowed. "…So it's showing every possible future?"

Ashar shook his head slightly.

"…Every possible failure."

Silence.

Eryx didn't react immediately.

He was watching them.

All of them.

Like studying himself from outside.

"…So that's how it sees me," he said quietly.

Mira looked at him. "…Eryx…"

He raised a hand slightly.

One of the projections flickered.

"…I don't like that one," he said.

Ashar frowned. "…Which one?"

Eryx answered calmly.

"…All of them that end in submission."

Silence dropped again.

The system voice returned.

> "BREAK POINT CATALOGING ACTIVE"

Mira stepped back. "…Cataloging?"

Ashar answered quietly.

"…It's organizing his limits."

Eryx narrowed his eyes slightly.

"…My limits?"

Ashar nodded once.

"…Where you stop being you."

Silence.

The projections shifted again.

Some showed Eryx collapsing.

Some showed him obeying.

Some showed him disappearing completely.

Mira whispered. "…This is sick…"

Eryx didn't respond emotionally.

But something in his expression sharpened.

"…It's trying to convince me I already lost."

A pause.

Then softly:

"…Before I even started."

The system responded instantly.

> "CONFIDENCE VARIABLE DETECTED"

The projections tightened.

Closing in.

Like they were trying to surround his perception itself.

Mira grabbed her arm slightly. "…It's getting worse…"

Ashar's voice dropped. "…It's applying psychological containment now."

Eryx stepped forward slightly.

"…Then let me ask it something."

Mira looked at him. "…What are you doing?"

Eryx didn't answer immediately.

Then calmly:

"…If I already have a break point…"

A pause.

"…Why am I still here?"

Silence.

The projections froze.

The system didn't respond immediately.

For the first time—

delay.

Ashar's eyes narrowed. "…It's recalculating the question."

Mira whispered. "…That's possible?"

Eryx looked forward calmly.

"…Because I'm asking from outside its model."

Silence stretched.

Then—

> "QUERY UNEXPECTED"

> "PROCESSING…"

The projection field flickered violently.

Some versions of Eryx began dissolving.

Others stabilized.

As if the system couldn't decide which failure mattered more.

Mira stepped back. "…It's breaking itself…"

Ashar muttered. "…No."

A pause.

"…It's splitting evaluation paths."

Eryx's gaze stayed steady.

"…Then it doesn't know which version of me is real."

Silence.

Then the system responded.

> "RESOLUTION DELAYED"

The projection field collapsed inward suddenly.

Not destroyed.

Paused.

And for the first time—

the system stopped predicting him cleanly…

and started doubting its own predictions.
