Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: End of Simulation, Death of the White Dragon

[Regarding this order, you felt extremely puzzled and confused.]

[You believed the current primary enemies were Artoria and Merlin of the Red Dragon faction, not Camelot, which had remained neutral and absorbed refugees since its establishment.]

[Furthermore, for personal reasons, you didn't want to attack Camelot, even though the Queen of Camelot tormented you in your dreams every night.]

[Thus, you raised your objections to Vortigern. However, he merely smiled and refused your request. When you asked why, he simply said he had his own arrangements and told you to wait peacefully.]

[You felt very helpless about this, cursing all riddlers to hell.]

[However, after pondering for a long time, you still took a risk and told Morgan about this matter one night when she came to humiliate you again.]

[Upon hearing this news from your mouth, Morgan was surprised, followed by a long silence.]

[The next night, you didn't see Morgan arrive.]

[You understood that she had listened to your words. Even though you betrayed her, she still chose to trust you one last time.]

[Except, while enjoying a rare night of sleep, you inexplicably felt a bit disappointed.]

[Soon after, you and Vortigern's massive army encamped not far from Camelot's royal capital. Looking at the city you and Morgan had built together, you felt a complex mix of emotions.]

[After arriving here, you strictly ordered Vortigern's army not to leave the camp, not to harass nearby villages or commoners. Everyone had to stay in the camp and wait for orders.]

[After a few days of this, you saw Vortigern walk into Camelot.]

[You didn't know what Vortigern talked about with Morgan inside. You only knew that he came out smiling that day. Upon returning, he ordered the army to withdraw from Camelot's territory and focus attention on the Red Dragon's territory in the south, opening up new battlefields.]

[And since that day, Morgan never appeared in your dreams again.]

[With the disappearance of the 'Nightmare' status, you understood that she had completely severed ties with you.]

[Under the setting sun, you bid farewell to this city. You knew you likely wouldn't have the chance to return in the future.]

[Soon, the Red Dragon faction—which had originally been completely suppressed by the Vile King's army—sounded the horn of counterattack after being joined by a series of highly capable fighters like Lancelot, Percival, and Agravain.]

[Facing so many formidable enemies, relying on the buff of 'Radiance of the Age of Gods', you and your army barely managed to fight them to a standstill without Vortigern's leadership.]

[In one particular battle, relying on the advantageous factor of rain, you single-handedly fought the four Knights of the Round Table: Gawain, Lancelot, Tristan, and Gaheris. At the cost of severe injuries, you defeated them.]

[Even though they didn't want to admit it, your spearmanship was still recognized by the people of Britain. They said your spearmanship was unsurpassed by anyone in this era.]

[You acquired the skill 'Eternal Arms Mastery (B)'.]

[However, although you defeated Gawain and the others, you were trapped deep within enemy lines and couldn't return. And since there were no other powerful general-level figures in the Vile King's army who could break through the encirclement to save you, you faced a life-or-death crisis.]

[Subsequently, you saw the handsome 'man' surrounded by soldiers, wearing armor and a blue cape: King Arthur, Artoria. Currently maintaining a male persona, she should be called Artoris.]

[She looked at you—surrounded, covered in sword wounds, armor shattered, leaning on your spear to keep from falling to the ground—with unconcealable sorrow in her eyes.]

[She asked you why you committed the grave sin of joining Vortigern, why you pointed your spear blade at the Celts you once protected.]

[Ever since learning you joined Vortigern, your matter became a knot in Artoria's heart. She couldn't imagine how one of her few friends, the noble Lamorak, became an enemy standing on the opposing side before they could even acknowledge each other.]

[She felt extreme pain over this. If Merlin hadn't demanded that she finish her trials before leaving, she would have long sought you out for an explanation.]

[Now, she finally asked this question.]

[You didn't answer her question. Instead, you asked Artoria if she knew the consequences of the fading Age of Gods. You wanted to know: even if Merlin and Uther chose to comply with the fading Age of Gods for the sake of an inevitable destiny, abandoning all the current people of Britain, how would Artoria, as an independent thinker, choose?]

[To your disappointment, she knew the result of the fading Age of Gods. Yet she told you in a low voice that if they didn't abandon the current people of Britain and allowed the Age of Gods to persist, it wouldn't just be Britain—the entire world would be affected, and vastly more people than those in Britain would suffer.]

[But when you asked her about the specific time this would happen, she fell silent again.]

[You finally understood. The 'Perfect King' created by Merlin and Uther wasn't the Perfect King of Britain, but the Perfect King of the World. For the sake of the world, she could abandon this land that gave birth to her and raised her.]

[At this moment, you finally noticed that the sword in Artoria's hand wasn't the Sword in the Stone that represented Britain, but the Holy Sword of the Planet, Excalibur, which symbolized the will of the planet.]

[This meant she had already made her choice: to become an executor of the planet's will.]

[You understood she was no longer the little girl you knew. Your influence on her had ultimately been erased by Merlin. She had still become the original, perfect yet ruthless King Arthur who didn't understand the human heart.]

[You laughed aloud, laughing until tears streamed down your face.]

[You said she was a King, a God, but she would never be a person, nor would she ever be the King of Humanity.]

[These words stunned Artoria. Right at this moment, Vortigern's figure suddenly appeared beside you. Before the crowd could react and try to kill you both, Vortigern took you away.]

[With his help, you healed your wounds and received new orders.]

[Cease attacking, defend the cities. If necessary, even surrender the territories already gained.]

[You were very puzzled, but didn't ask much.]

[In the days that followed, you followed Vortigern's orders, defending the cities against the Red Dragon faction's attacks.]

[But while you were good at fighting, you were clearly not a good general when it came to defending cities.]

[Upon learning of King Arthur's return, the Red Dragon army's cohesion reached an unprecedented high. They breached multiple cities in one fell swoop, forcing you to retreat further back.]

[One day, while resting in a castle, you arrived at a sea of flowers in your dream and saw Merlin.]

[You two should have been mortal enemies, but surprisingly, you didn't fight, but sat down to talk.]

[From the conversation, you learned Merlin's purpose was to take Britomart back from your side. Several Faerie Queenes from Avalon were pressuring him to make amends for his mistake.]

[You fell silent. Although Britomart didn't appear often, she had truly accompanied you for a long time. It was impossible to say you weren't reluctant to let her go.]

[But you understood that she was ultimately from the Fairy Kingdom and shouldn't have appeared in Pan-Human History's Britain in the first place.]

[Thus, you agreed to Merlin's request. In exchange, he told you a piece of news.]

[The day Vortigern went to talk to Morgan was to coerce her into not participating in the war between the White Dragon and the Red Dragon. The reward was that he wouldn't attack Camelot, and would even protect it.]

[Morgan ultimately agreed to his demand. Even Merlin currently being trapped in Avalon and unable to leave was Morgan's doing.]

[Your feelings were very complex. Amidst these complex emotions, you parted ways with Britomart.]

[In the end, you saw Britomart wanted to say something to you, but you stopped her. You understood what she meant, but the current you didn't have much time or choices.]

[Just like that, two months passed. You had already retreated to two-thirds of your original territory. While this was certainly due to plummeting morale and soldier dissatisfaction caused by defending without attacking, you also felt the power of the Age of Gods buffing you all was fading.]

[Meanwhile, the Red Dragon's army received the buff of the world's momentum.]

[You had a premonition that something had happened to Vortigern.]

[One day later, you met Vortigern, whom you hadn't seen for a long time. You noticed he was in very poor condition, his spirit seeming to have aged significantly.]

[But he didn't say much, nor did he intend to blame you. He simply handed you a silver-white lance and told you to prepare for the final battle.]

[You acquired the Noble Phantasm 'The Indestructible Holy Lance'.]

[Following Vortigern's instructions, you initiated the final battle against Artoria at Albion.]

[In that great battle, Vortigern dealt with King Arthur, while you dealt with the other Knights of the Round Table. Behind you lay the remains of the Dragon of Albion, which gathered the final power and embers of Britain's Age of Gods.]

[You had to wait for the embers of the Age of Gods to merge with the Dragon of Albion, wait for the ritual to prolong the Age of Gods to complete, and finally open a passage large enough for the Dragon of Albion to pass through, letting it slide into the Inner Sea of the Planet to become the source and conduit for the continuation of Britain's Age of Gods.]

[However, in the end, you still lost.]

[Even though Vortigern had long anticipated Artoria would focus all her attacks on him—the one seemingly holding the Holy Lance that was the key to opening the world's passage—and had deliberately given the true key to you... When you burned all your blood and life to forcefully activate the Holy Lance and threw that Anchor of the Storm at the target, you were still interrupted by the radiance of the Holy Sword of the Planet.]

[In the very, very end, Vortigern died beneath the dragon's remains, while you had your heart pierced by Artoria's Holy Sword, dying in her arms.]

[The Age of Gods will eventually end, and history has returned to its proper track.]

[You regret that you ultimately couldn't see Morgan one last time, but you also know she wouldn't have seen you again anyway.]

[This was the greatest punishment for a traitor like you.]

[Simulation Ends.]

[You acquired the innate talent 'Dragon Core (B)', 'Charisma (B)', and the special status 'Gaze of the Goddesses'.]
