Chapter 137 - FOREVER, WITH YOU

🖤

The day wasn't rushed. It wasn't grand in the way people expected but it was perfect. Soft sunlight filtered through the open space warmly gentle. Everything about it felt intentional not excessive, not overwhelming just… right.

Cassy stood still for a moment taking it in. The quiet before everything began. Her dress fell effortlessly around her simplely elegant. Nothing complicated because nothing about this needed to be.

A soft knock came at the door. "Come in."

The door opened slowly and Caleb stepped inside. For a second they just looked at each other no words because after everything there wasn't anything left to say only everything left to feel.

"…You weren't supposed to see me yet," Cassy said softly but there was no protest in it.

Caleb smiled faintly. "I've waited long enough." That was so him.

Cassy shook her head slightly but she didn't look away. "…So this is really happening."

Caleb stepped closer slowly certain. "It's been happening for a while." A pause. "Today just makes it official."

Her breath softened because he was right. This wasn't the start. This was the continuation of everything they had already built. The ceremony itself wasn't long. It didn't need to be. Every word mattered. Every promise held weight.

When they stood across from each other nothing else existed, not the guests, not the setting just them.

"I choose you," Caleb said no script, no hesitation. "Not because it's easy—" A pause. "—but because it's never been anything else."

Cassy's eyes softened because that was their story not perfect, not simple but real.

"I choose you too," she said. A breath. "Every time."

And that was it no grand declarations needed just truth. The ring slid onto her finger again, this time with meaning everyone could see.

The moment sealed not just legally but completely.

When he kissed her, it wasn't rushed not dramatic just certain like everything they had built together.

Time moved forward. Of course it did but it didn't feel like something they were chasing anymore. It felt like something they were living.

Married life wasn't perfect. They didn't expect it to be. There were long days, late nights. Moments where work pulled them in different directions but now here was no distance they couldn't close. No silence that felt uncertain because at the end of every day they came back to the same place to each other.

Mornings became slower. Coffee shared in quiet. Evenings softer. Conversations that didn't need to be measured and somewhere along the way the life they built stopped feeling like something fragile. It became something steady, something permanent.

Years later, the house felt fuller warmer. A small laugh echoed through the hallway lighter unrestrained.

Cassy turned toward the sound, a smile already forming.

Caleb followed behind her already knowing what they'd find.

A little girl sat on the floor surrounded by scattered papers, drawing something far too big for the page.

"…That's not how charts work," Caleb said lightly.

The little girl looked up, eyes bright. "But it's better this way."

Cassy laughed softly. "…She gets that from you."

Caleb raised an eyebrow. "I'm not the one ignoring structure."

"…No," Cassy said, a small smile lingering. "You're the one who rewrites it."

Silence settled but this time, it wasn't quiet, it was full, complete because this was what they built. Not just a relationship, not just a future, a life.

One that started in control in distance, in uncertainty and became something stronger than all of it, something lasting, something real.

Cassy reached for Caleb's hand just like she always had and he held onto hers just as tightly no hesitation, no limits just… always.

And no matter what came next, that would never change because in the end, it was never about the obstacles, it was about what they chose over and over again each other forever.
