The office felt… quieter, not peaceful, not calm just… aware like everyone was waiting for something and that something came faster than expected.
"Mr. Garcia." Adrian's voice carried urgency this time, no hesitation.
Caleb looked up. "What is it?"
Adrian placed a document on his desk. "This just came in."
Caleb opened it and the moment he read the first page everything shifted.
Cassy, standing nearby, noticed immediately. "What happened?" she asked.
Caleb didn't answer right away because this wasn't just pressure anymore, it was impact.
"They've frozen part of the partnership accounts," Adrian said quietly.
Silence.
Cassy frowned. "…What does that mean?"
Caleb finally looked at her. "It means the agreement wasn't just symbolic," he said. A pause. "It's affecting operations now."
That hit harder than anything before because this was real, numbers, business, people,c onsequences.
"Is it temporary?" Cassy asked.
Adrian hesitated. "…Depends on how the case goes."
Silence.
Cassy's chest tightened slightly. "Because of the claim," she said.
Caleb nodded once. "Yes."
Everything connected, the engagement, the agreement, the legal pressure and now the company itself.
"This is bigger than I thought," Cassy admitted softly.
Caleb stepped closer. "I told you there would be consequences."
Cassy looked at him. "You didn't tell me how much."
Silence.
Because even he hadn't expected it to escalate this fast. "I'll fix it," he said.
That instinct again, control, solution but this time, Cassy didn't immediately accept it. "How?" she asked.
A pause. Caleb didn't answer right away because for once he didn't have a clear plan yet.
That alone said everything. Cassy exhaled slowly. "…This isn't something you can just decide your way out of."
Caleb's jaw tightened slightly. "I don't wait for problems to solve themselves."
"I'm not asking you to wait," she replied. A pause. "I'm asking you to think."
Silence.
That line wasn't a challenge, it was a shift because this wasn't about speed anymore, it was about strategy, real strategy.
Adrian cleared his throat softly. "We might need to consider negotiation."
Caleb's expression hardened. "No." Immediate.
But Cassy stepped in. "Maybe yes."
Silence. Both men looked at her.
"Not surrender," she added quickly. A pause. "Control."
That word got his attention because now she was speaking his language.
"If you ignore this," she continued. "It gets worse." Another pause. "But if you face it properly—on your terms—" She held his gaze. "You take some of that power back."
Silence.
Caleb studied her carefully because this wasn't just instinct, this was thought, clear, focused and for the first time he didn't immediately disagree.
"…You're suggesting I talk to her," he said.
Cassy nodded. "Yes."
Adrian looked between them. "That could stabilize things," he added.
Silence.
Because now there was a real choice not emotional, strategic and that was new.
Caleb exhaled slowly. "…I don't make deals I've already walked away from."
Cassy stepped closer. "This isn't about going back," she said softly. A pause. "It's about moving forward without destroying everything around you."
Silence.
That hit because now it wasn't just about him or her, it was about everything connected to them, the company, the people, the consequences.
Caleb looked at her for a long moment then nodded once. "…Set the meeting."
Adrian blinked slightly. "You're sure?"
"Yes." No hesitation now because the decision was made.
Cassy exhaled softly not relief but something close because now they weren't just reacting, they were choosing and sometimes that's the only way to survive the cost of everything that comes with it.
