Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Vibrant Raccoon City

"Mr. Kendo, isn't the very meaning of our existence as adults to protect the beautiful, innocent smiles of children?" Asa added.

"You said that wonderfully." The weapon shop owner, Robert Kendo, was a rough man. After hearing Asa words, he struggled for a long moment before saying, "That was so well said. It makes me feel so comfortable inside."

Asa shook his head with a smile, and the two continued to accompany the two girls as they browsed.

As the owner of the largest weapon shop in Raccoon City, Robert Kendo was frequently visited by officers from the Raccoon City Police Department and elite S.T.A.R.S. members who needed supplies. Jill Valentine, Chris, Enrico, and others were all well-acquainted with him.

If he could establish a connection with him, Asa could use this man to get to know the S.T.A.R.S. members, but now was not the time.

The G-Virus was a matter of great importance. Asa did not believe that he was being followed by no one while taking Sherry Birkin out for a stroll today.

After talking with Robert, both parties left with a good impression of each other.

Near noon, the two little girls reluctantly said their goodbyes, and Robert and Asa also exchanged polite farewells.

"How about it, Sherry Birkin? Did you have fun?" Rubbing Sherry Birkin's soft blonde hair, Asa asked with a smile.

"Mm!" Sherry Birkin nodded heavily, her face flushed with excitement.

"Next, I'll take you out for a big meal. Let's go."

Opening the Raccoon City travel guide, Asa pondered his next destination. Since they were already out, he might as well go for Chinese food.

A month of fish and chips had made Asa mouth feel bland and dull.

The Raccoon City Zoo was located in the North District, while the "Most Delicious Chinese Restaurant" that Asa and Sherry Birkin were heading to was in the Central District, even bordering the South District.

The two first walked along the zoo's south exit to Emma Street, then boarded a bus.

The bus traveled south along Emma Street until it reached Ennedaile Street, then turned east.

Sherry Birkin sat by the window, while Asa opened the Raccoon City map, trying to match it with the game scenes in his memory.

Just as the bus rounded a corner, the system suddenly prompted: [Important plot character Ada Wong discovered. Establish a bond with her to receive rewards!]

It's that woman! Asa looked up from the Raccoon City travel guide in surprise. Was he finally going to meet the most popular female character in Resident Evil?

However, he looked left and right, but he couldn't see her figure anywhere. Ada Wong was not on the bus.

Asa subconsciously looked to the left. Through the bus window, he finally saw one of the world's most famous main cast members, the most mysterious woman in the Resident Evil world.

In an old-fashioned cafe on the street, an oriental beauty wearing a trench coat, sunglasses, and a scarf was sipping the coffee in her hand.

It really was her. Her outfit was identical to the one in Resident Evil 2, and Asa recognized her at a glance.

Was Ada Wong already appearing in Raccoon City in February? Doubt arose in Asa heart.

The bus slowly drove past the old-fashioned cafe, and the beauty sitting by the window disappeared from his view. Asa turned his head and stopped looking.

If he guessed correctly, Ada Wong's appearance in Raccoon City this time should be because she had accepted a commission from Umbrella Corporation's arch-rival, H.C.F., to come to Raccoon City to obtain the T-Virus raw sample.

And John, the supervisor of the T-Virus research base located in the suburbs, had fallen for Ada Wong after a chance encounter, even changing his computer account and password to "John" and "Ada" to express his love.

Poor, honest John Clemens was thus played in the palm of Ada Wong's hand.

"What a terrible, wicked woman," Asa whispered.

Sherry Birkin, who was watching the scenery outside the window, heard Asa whisper and immediately turned around. She grabbed Asa sleeve with both hands, her eyes glistening with tears, and said pitifully, "Asa, do you hate me?"

Sherry Birkin hadn't known Asa for long, but she had already come to view him as a kind and amiable older brother. After all, Annette Birkin and William couldn't spare the time, but her brother was willing to carve out precious work time to keep her company.

After all, Sherry Birkin didn't yet know that there was a state of working called'slacking off.'

"Uh, this..." Asa quickly coaxed her: "Oh, Sherry Birkin. I was talking about women, not girls. You are so well-behaved, how could I hate you?"

After much comforting, Sherry Birkin finally put the matter behind her.

The bus headed east until the landmark building of the Central District—the Raccoon City Police Department—appeared in view.

It was a three-story wide building with an underground structure, and its main entrance faced the main thoroughfare, Ennedaile Avenue.

From the outside, it lived up to its museum-like style.

As for the interior, if it hadn't changed too much, he believed many people were more familiar with its internal structure than the Raccoon City police themselves.

Directly opposite the Raccoon City Police Department, on the right side of the bus, was the City Hall.

The bus continued driving east until it stopped at the Raccoon City High School.

Asa and Sherry Birkin got off the bus and walked south along Fox Street, finally finding the "Most Delicious Chinese Restaurant" mentioned in the travel guide.

That's right, "Most Delicious" wasn't a review of the restaurant, but rather its actual name: "The Most Delicious Chinese Restaurant."

He felt a bit cheated.

Asa bit the bullet and led Sherry Birkin into the restaurant.

To his surprise, although some of the dishes in the restaurant had been adapted for local tastes, the flavor was actually decent. It wasn't like other Chinese food that was either sickeningly sweet or unbearably spicy.

After enjoying a lovely Chinese meal with Sherry Birkin, they spent the afternoon shopping at the Raccoon City Mega Mall. Carrying a pile of toys and gifts, the two returned to the Umbrella Corporation headquarters in the North District.

They took the elevator down as usual, and without making Asa wait long, Annette Birkin quickly sought him out.

"Well done." Annette Birkin picked up Sherry Birkin and listened to her daughter excitedly recounting the day's experiences in her ear. Her stern expression softened slightly, and she offered some praise.

"Ma'am, I'm glad I didn't disappoint you."

"More importantly, you know what should be said and what should not," she said, implying something.

So he really was being monitored. Asa didn't feel much of a ripple in his heart. His clearance wasn't high, but whether it was homeless people or orphans, everyone who entered the secret laboratory never came out; even a fool would know something was wrong.

Plus, with William harboring ulterior motives, it was even less likely that this matter would be exposed prematurely. He hadn't defected yet, after all.

Seeing Asa expression was normal, as if he didn't quite understand, Annette Birkin realized she had said too much.

Such a young person didn't understand what the company was doing at all; William's worry about leaks was truly a mistake.

Before leaving, Annette Birkin said: "Continue tomorrow. In the future, remember to keep the receipts when buying things and put them on the company's account."
