Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: The Tyrant’s Shadow

The Cold Breath of Fear ❄️😰

The heavy school bell rang, its metallic chime echoing through the grand hallways of Saint Jude's Academy. 🔔 For most students, it was the sound of freedom, a signal to laugh and head to the cafeteria. But for Baby Doll, it sounded like a death knell. 💀

She sat at her desk, her knuckles white as she gripped the edges of her notebook. 📒 Her heart was a frantic bird trapped in a cage, thumping against her ribs so hard it hurt. 💓 She waited for the classroom to empty, hoping to blend into the shadows. She didn't want to be seen. She didn't want to be found. 🕵️‍♀️

"Are you planning to stay here all day, Baby Doll?" a classmate whispered as she walked by. 🎒

Baby Doll didn't answer. She just kept her head down, her long hair acting as a curtain to hide her trembling lips. 😶 She counted to sixty, took a deep breath, and finally stood up. She tucked her hair behind her ears—ears that were still ringing from the memory of his voice from the day before. 👂🚫

She stepped into the hallway, trying to be invisible. 👣 The walls of the school felt like they were closing in on her. Every tall boy in a blazer looked like him from a distance, making her breath catch in her throat. 🧥 She walked faster, her sneakers squeaking against the polished marble floor. 👟💨

Just get to the library, she told herself. He never goes to the library. 📚

The Predator Appears 🐺👁️

She was halfway through the main corridor when the air suddenly turned cold. ❄️ The bustling noise of the students died down to a haunted whisper. 🤐 It was a sign. A sign that the atmosphere had shifted because the "King" had entered the room. 👑

Baby Doll's feet froze. 🛑 Her breath hitched. There, leaning against a row of lockers with an air of bored elegance, was Prince. 🤴🖤

He looked perfect—infuriatingly so. His school tie was slightly loosened, his dark hair messy in a way that looked intentional, and his eyes... those sharp, piercing eyes were already fixed on her. 🦅 He wasn't looking at the other students; he was looking at her like she was the only prize in the room. 🎯🔥

"Going somewhere without permission, Baby Doll?" 🤨 his voice drifted through the air, smooth as silk but sharp as a hidden blade. 🗡️✨

Baby Doll's heart skipped a beat. She looked around desperately for an exit, but the other students had already cleared a wide path, leaving her standing alone in the center of the hallway. 🚶‍♀️🚫 They knew better than to stand between Prince and his "favorite toy." 🧸🔗

Prince pushed himself off the lockers, his movements slow and graceful, like a predator who knows the prey has nowhere to run. 🐾 Every step he took toward her felt like a mountain crashing down. 🏔️💥

The Grip of Possession ⛓️🤝

"I... I have a project to finish," 😰 she stammered, her voice small and shaky. She hated how weak she sounded in front of him. She hated how her body betrayed her by trembling every time he got close. 📉

Prince didn't stop until he was standing directly in her personal space. He was so tall that she had to tilt her head back just to see his face. 📏🚫 The scent of his expensive cologne—something like sandalwood and cold rain—filled her senses, making her dizzy. 🪵⛈️

"A project?" 🤨 He reached out, his long fingers grazing the side of her neck before hooking into the strap of her bag. 🎒 He pulled her an inch closer. "You don't do anything unless I say so. Have you forgotten who you belong to?" 😈🖤

"I don't belong to anyone!" 👁️💢 Baby Doll snapped, a tiny spark of her hidden Princess spirit finally flickering to life. She tried to step back, but Prince was faster. ⚡

His hand shot out, grabbing her wrist with a grip that was firm, unyielding, and terrifyingly possessive. 💪⛓️ It didn't hurt, but it felt like a shackle made of iron. 🔒

"Your adopted parents named you 'Baby Doll' because you're something to be kept in a glass case," 🧸 Prince whispered, leaning down until his lips were brushing against her ear. 👂💋 "And I'm the one who owns the key to that case. You're a fragile little thing, and the world is a cruel place. You should be thanking me for keeping you all to myself." 🖤🗝️A Public Declaration 📢🔥

Just then, a boy from the basketball team walked by, glancing over at them. 🏀 He saw Baby Doll's frightened expression and hesitated, as if he wanted to help. 🙋‍♂️

Prince's eyes instantly darkened. The temperature in the hallway seemed to drop another ten degrees. 📉❄️ He didn't just look at the boy; he stared through his soul with a gaze of pure, icy rage. 💀🚫

Prince pulled Baby Doll flush against his chest, his arm wrapping around her waist in a claim of absolute ownership. ⚡🤝 The sudden contact made her gasp, her hands landing on his chest as she tried to push away, but he was like a brick wall. 🧱

"Is there a problem?" 🤨 Prince asked the boy, his voice dropping into a low, dangerous growl. 🐺

"N-no, Prince. Sorry," the boy muttered, turning pale and sprinting away as fast as he could. 🏃‍♂️💨

Prince turned back to the crowd of students who were watching from the corners. 👥 He raised his voice, making sure it echoed into every classroom. 📢

"Listen carefully," 🤴 he commanded, his presence filling the entire hall. "This 'Baby Doll' is mine. If I catch any of you looking at her, talking to her, or even thinking about her... you won't live to see the next sunset at this school. Is that understood?" 💀🚫🌅

The silence that followed was deafening. 🙊 No one dared to breathe. No one dared to look up. They all knew Prince wasn't making a threat—he was stating a fact. 📖🔥

The Walk to Destiny 👑🦅

Baby Doll felt a tear prick at the corner of her eye. 😢 She felt so small, so trapped. She was a Princess by name, but here, she was just a captive in a golden cage. 🏰🔗

"Let's go," 🖤 Prince muttered, his voice softening only for her, though the possessiveness remained. He didn't let go of her wrist. Instead, he began walking, forcing her to follow him down the long hallway. 👣🤝

"Where are we going?" 😰 she whispered.

"To the cafeteria," 🍴 Prince replied with a dark smirk. "I want everyone to watch while I take care of what belongs to me. You're going to sit at my table, Baby Doll. And you're going to stay there until I decide you've had enough." 🍱✨

As they walked, Baby Doll looked at the floor, watching their shadows mingle on the marble. 👤🤝👤 One shadow was large and domineering, the other small and trembling. She realized then that in Prince's world, there was no room for escape. There was only the shadow, and the king who cast it. 🌑👑
