Chapter 12 - Chapter 8.5: Reality Check

(Tbh, one of the most shortest chapters i prolly did)

This… was a dream in Tims' mom's head (Tim's REAL mom). Her name was Laura. In this dream, she was driving under the blue morning sky with Tim (a 6-year-old in this dream) in the backseat. "Are you ready for your second day of school, honey?" Laura asked Tim with glee. Tim nodded softly, "Yeah, I'm ready for school. I'm kind of nervous though…" Laura looked at Tim with the mirror in the car, looking at Tim with concern. "It's okay to be nervous, honey… I had felt the same, just like you did, when it came to school." Laura didn't feel like she was really talking to Tim, but rather as if she was talking to a burning memory. But, she didn't care, as long as she saw Tim and that Tim could respond to her, then that's fine. "You just gotta be brave like a lion," she encouraged Tim with a smile. Tim gave back a small smile to Laura, "About school, I have the nicest teacher I've ever met!" Laura nodded at Tim. The nicest teacher…? Who could that be? "Oh, the nicest teacher?" Laura asked, "What's their name?" Then, Tim sat up straight in his seat before answering, "Her name is 'Ms.C'. She's very kind and patient." For Laura, that was good to hear. She knows that a teacher should have those two traits. "That sounds like a nice name, honey," Laura said before asking, "And the school, what's good or should I say… unique about it?" "Well," Tim said, "Our mascot is the dolphins." Dolphins… That reminded her of something. "That's almost a coincidence, my favorite animal was dolphins," She laughed before continuing, "Hey, maybe if you can, you can do a drawing of your teacher, and you could show me. It doesn't have to be… super duper perfect." Tim nodded at Laura's words before replying, "Alright, I can do that." Laura continued driving until she looked outside the window. They were passing by multiple houses, they all looked the same, the fences were white, they were on hills, and it seemed to be infinite. It was very weird to Laura, but she shrugged it off and continued driving. She noticed from the mirror in the car that Tim was about to fall asleep, so she shook Tim's leg. "Come on, honey, don't be a dozer," Laura joked, "Second day of school, and you're about to fall asleep." Tim sat right back straight before he apologized, "I'm sorry… Too tired for school." Laura puts her hand back on the wheel before saying, "Well, hopefully your school does naptime." Then, the dream seemed to faded and Laura woke up. She was sweating, and her hair was messy. She wanted to cry because the dream was too short; she wanted to spend just one last time with Tim. "Oh, Tim… if only you were here right now," Laura said to herself. She stood up and went out of the room. "Maybe some water can help me relax," Laura thought. She walked to the kitchen. The entire house was silent, and Luis was sleeping on the couch. She opened the fridge, grabbed water, and drank it. "Ah… That's better…" Laura whispered as she closed the water bottle and put it back in the fridge. Just as she closed the door of the refrigerator and turned, she saw Hector standing there, like out of nowhere. Laura jumped and yelled, "Hector!? What are you doing here, and why are you scaring me like that?" Hector waved his hand and replied, "Hola, Laura. I'm sorry for doing that. I thought you were Luis. He always does this little thing where he wakes up and goes to the fridge many times. And right now, you might be doing the same as him." Laura shook her head and said, "Well, don't do that. You're like a ninja. Watching my every move and coming out of nowhere…" Hector nodded and sat down at the table nearby, then he answered Laura's question about him being here in this house instead of his comfy, smooth-jazz-like cabin. "The reason I'm here is because of Tim," Hector answered. Laura then felt a pang of melancholy just by being reminded of Tim, and she replied, "Well, Tim isn't here right now." Hector rolled his eyes at the obvious fact and sarcastically replied, "Oh, really..? Thank you, Ms. Sherlock. I didn't know why I even came here." Hector rubbed the temple of his nose and continued, "I knew he was gone when I came here. Your hijo is loco, talking about living in dreams." Laura sat down at the table with Hector and sighed, "Dreams? Why would he talk about dreams?" Hector knew this question was going to come at him. He might as well answer this question and turn it into a Greek tragedy. Then Hector replied, "I read his journal. He talks about them being… perfect, like he wants to live there forever. He drew every depiction of his dreams, every single detail, and praises it as if it were a lifesaver…." And there goes the Greek tragedy answer. The answer was so long that Laura felt like she was about to fall asleep again. "No, Hector," Laura answered, "Tim couldn't have run away to live in these dreams. They last for one night…" Hector shook his head and replied, "That's exactly what Luis said." Hector then stood up from the chair and continued, "I'm not gonna deal with this. I'll talk to you tomorrow…" Hector slowly walked into Tim's room. Laura didn't want Hector to sleep in Tim's room, it was like a museum of artifacts, but she knew it was the only room in the house that was available. So, Laura stood up from the table and also went to bed. Even after that dream Laura had, she couldn't tell if she was actually talking to Tim or just an illusion. Would Tim even come back home…?
