Chapter 91 - Chapter 91

The sound of the air being shredded rang out as the spear was accelerated further at almost blurring speeds.

*Shclk*

The resistance of the gelatine like substance of the humanoid slime appeared, for only but a slight moment in time, before it was completely bypassed by the sheer kinetic energy that the spear carried, as it tore into its left torso and directly pierced through the dark glass core of the slime.

*Shatter*

With a glass shattering sound, the spear continued forawrds and hit the wall behind the slime, with another sound ringing out, this time the sound of metal bending until it could no further before shattering apart.

Looking down at the monster that had stood before him and had now turned into nothing more but slime remnants and liquid onto the ground that were slowly but surely disintegrating into white motes of light. Alan felt his heart rate slowly start to stabilse once more.

Taking a few slow steps until he was standing before what remained of his enemy, he took a deep calming breath, closing his eyes behind the night vision goggles for a moment before reopening them. In those brief close eyed moments, the scenery around him had changed to his apartment, to the fight, to the three dead bodies that wouldn't leave his mind alone.

'Damned…' Alan thought to himself and in a split second later, a notification like bell sound rang inside his mind, the system notifying him of his successful kill of the monster.

[ Ding! ]

[ User has defeated a Cardinal Pink Slime. ]

[ User has gained 1000 Experience Points. ]

..

'Alright… let's let's just continue, I have to be more careful from now on. I have enough mana to shoot around four of those wind gusts before I run out, that means I can defeat around four of these things in a row if all the conditions are perfect, ofcourse, that's just an optimistic thought, in actual battle, I won't always have the perfect distance or shot directly to its core. I should atleast lower it to one third, one in every three uses of the wind gusts would equal one kill.' Alan thought as he walked and grabbed the combat spear that he had previously discarded onto the ground and hoisted it up with one arm.

Turning his gaze towards the broken fragments of his other combat spear, he quickly noticed how it was similarly to the monster getting disintegrated into white motes of light.

'I see… so if it breaks, it's just gone. I don't get to use its materials for anything else…. That's a bit annoying, I could have used the steel fragments or pieces of the wood to create something out of them… but I guess it is.. What it is.' Alan thought before releasing another sigh and starting to walk down the dark alley once more, heading towards his next opponent, towards the next battle, his mind already having calmed down. His heartrate finally back to normal and his palms firmly gripping the combat spear.

The hardest fight of the alley was now over, the first one was always the hardest, it was the fight where he had the least amount of information and knew nothing about his opponent, each fight after the first would only get easier and easier, both as he leveled up and as he learned how to counter the specific slimes moves more and more.

'Though… predicting this one will be harder, they posses actual intelligence in comparison to the other slimes that only used their given skills in the most basic ways possible.' He thought, shaking his head slightly as his figure disappeared into the darkness.

Meanwhile, on the outside world, on the complete other direction of the Cullen Mansion, deep inside the forest, stood a reservation.

The quileute Tribe reservation.

It was a native tribe that had stood and withstood the ages for centuries, they had been here before the town of Forks had even been created, before any other being had come to live in these rainy forests.

The reservation was large and at its edges was in parts surrounded by a barbed fence, however in many spots, the fence had deteriorated to the point that it was nothing more than rusted metal at this point.

There were a dozen houses at the center of the reservation, most of them made out of wood and materials that were found around in the woods, tech hadn't managed to quite get into and change the area much. The number of cars in the entire reservation even now wasn't large, barely a few of the reservation members had a car, and even the ones that did have one didn't use it as often as any other person would have.

They worked jobs in forks, some of them atleast, whilst some others merely farmed and cultivated their own crops and raised their own livestock so that they could maintain their lives, merely selling the amount they didn't need so that they could get the other daily amenities that they couldn't create by themselves like clothes, soap and the like.

Inside one of the largest houses in this reservation, two people were currently talking, the first was a man of small stature that was sitting in a wheelchair whilst the other was an equally aged man sitting on the couch infront of him.

"Have you heard about the disappearance of those kids?" The old man on the couch asked as he leaned back slightly, a smoke pipe in his mouth as he took a long deep puff of grinded tobacco.
