💔🌙
Healing isn't a straight line. It doesn't stay quiet just because you're happy again.
Sofia learned that on a normal afternoon. When everything felt almost too calm. She and Kenzo were walking again. Talking about simple things. Laughing softly.
And then— they saw someone.
Adrian. He was across the street, talking with friends. Laughing the same way he used to with her. Sofia slowed down without meaning to.
Kenzo noticed immediately. Not jealous. Not defensive. Just aware. "That him?" Kenzo asked quietly.
Sofia nodded. A pause. But she didn't move toward him. Didn't look away either. It was just a moment. A memory standing in front of reality.
Kenzo watched her carefully. Then spoke softly. "You don't have to explain anything to me."
Sofia looked at him. And something in her softened. "I'm not confused," she said honestly. "I just… realized something." Kenzo waited. Sofia exhaled slowly. "I think I was healing, not moving on."
Silence. Not heavy. But revealing. Kenzo nodded slowly. "I get that."
Because he had been there too. Healing didn't always mean letting go completely. Sometimes it just meant surviving the absence.
"And now?" he asked gently.
Sofia looked back at Adrian for a moment. Then shook her head slightly. "I'm here now."
Kenzo didn't need more explanation than that. Because she was already turning back toward him.
That night, they sat together again. Quieter than usual. More thoughtful.
"I saw Elia today," Kenzo admitted after a while.
Sofia looked up slightly. "Oh?"
"She asked if I was really okay," he said.
Sofia tilted her head. "And?"
Kenzo hesitated. Then answered honestly. "I told her I was." A pause. "But I think I said it too early." Sofia didn't interrupt. Just listened. "I think I'm still learning how to be okay without running away from the past," he added.
Sofia nodded slowly. "That's normal."
Kenzo looked at her. "You make it sound easy."
She gave a soft, knowing smile. "It's not."
Silence again. But this time— it felt like understanding.
Kenzo reached for her hand gently. Not asking. Just connecting. Sofia held it. And this time, there was no hesitation.
"I don't want us to build something fragile," Kenzo said quietly.
Sofia squeezed his hand. "Then we don't rush it." A pause. Then softer— "We let it be real… even when it's uncomfortable."
Kenzo nodded. "I can do that." But life, as always, had a way of testing what they meant.
A few days later— Sofia received a message.
From Adrian. "Can we talk?"
And at the same time— Kenzo got one too.
From Elia. "We should be honest about what this is… or isn't."
Two messages. Two truths waiting to surface. Sofia stared at hers for a long moment. Then looked at Kenzo.
And for the first time in this new version of their story— they both understood.
Love wasn't just about coming back together. It was about what they chose while they were together again.
And what they were willing to face… to protect it.
