Chapter 60 - CHAPTER 59: WHEN FEELINGS COME BACK

❤️

It didn't happen suddenly. Not in one moment. Not with one realization. Feelings returned the way they always do— quietly. Unexpectedly.

Sofia noticed it first in the smallest way. A pause in conversation. A glance that lasted a second longer. A laugh that felt a little too real.

Adrian wasn't trying to impress her. That was the difference. He didn't push. Didn't rush. He just… stayed.

One afternoon— they were sitting together after class. Not talking much. Just comfortable silence.

"You're quieter today," Adrian said.

Sofia smiled faintly. "I'm thinking."

"About something serious?" he asked.

She hesitated. Then answered honestly— "About whether I'm ready for something new."

Adrian didn't react immediately. Didn't joke. Didn't change the subject. Instead, he said— "You don't have to decide that all at once." Sofia looked at him. "You can just figure it out while it's happening."

That— felt different. Because before— love had always felt like something she had to understand first. Now— it felt like something she could slowly step into.

Across the world— Kenzo felt it too. Not in a big way. But in quiet moments. Like when Elia laughed at something he said— and he found himself smiling longer than usual. Or when he caught himself looking forward to seeing her— without overthinking why.

One evening— they walked out of work together.

"You seem lighter lately," Elia said.

Kenzo raised an eyebrow slightly. "Is that a good thing?"

She smiled. "I think so." A pause. "You used to look like you were carrying something heavy all the time."

Kenzo looked down briefly. "I was." He didn't explain. He didn't need to.

Elia didn't ask more. And somehow— that made it easier.

Later that night— Sofia lay in bed again. Her phone in her hand.

A message from Adrian. "Did you get home safe?" Simple. But something about it felt… warm.

She smiled slightly. Then replied: "Yeah. Thank you."

She didn't overthink it. Didn't analyze the meaning. She just… felt it.

Kenzo sat in his apartment. His phone lit up.

A message from Elia. "Don't work too late tonight."

He stared at it for a moment. Then smiled. Not because it was deep. But because it was genuine. And that's when it hit them— in completely different places. At completely different times. The same realization. They were starting to feel again. Not for each other. But for someone new.

And that didn't erase the past. It didn't replace what they had.

But it meant something important. They had healed enough— to open their hearts again.

And that— was something they once thought would take forever.
