ARCHER
I was still in my car, driving as fast as I could. She looked like she was sleeping peacefully in my arms. I had no idea what was happening to me. It was the first time I was stealing glances of a woman and smiling. The car stopped on a signal. I quickly dialled the number of my friend, Leo. Leo was a doctor. And as the situation was pretty messy, I didn't want to take that girl to any hospital. Leo picked up at the second bell. "Hey, dude! What's up? I thought you were going to be busy today. As you told me." Leo said as soon as he picked up my call. He was crying and complaining as he always did.
I rolled my eyes as I heard him complaining again about everything I did. I didn't have time to hear his complaints. I was concerned about this woman in my arms. She looked so weak. And I had just shot her. "Stop crying, for fuck's sake. I want you to get to my place. And bring all your tools with you. I have a victim with a gunshot wound. And you are the only one I can trust." I replied to him in a low tone as I pulled my car in the parking lot of the building that was my office and also my home. As soon as he heard the reason why I was calling him, I heard him gasp loudly from the other side of the line.
I unbuckled the seatbelt and scooped her up in my arms again. I carefully stepped out of the car and walked towards the elevator. I called the elevator. It arrived within a few minutes. It was the VIP elevator. And I was the only one who could use it, as it was the only elevator that reached tge penthouse. "I will be there in a few minutes. Don't worry. Just try to keep the pressure on the wound. So it wouldn't bleed too much. And please don't touch the wound. You will make things worse." Leo replied to me in a low tone. I could hear him huffing. I know he was gathering up all his stuff so he could be at my place as soon as possible.
Leo hung up as soon as he instructed me. The elevator door opened in the penthouse. I carried her straight towards my bedroom. I went into the closet to grab a t-shirt for her. She was naked for some reason. And I didn't want Leo to see her naked. I grabbed a black t-shirt and went back towards the bed. I carefully held in my arms and covered her naked body with my t-shirt. Then I pulled off the tuxedo jacket and gently laid her back down on the bed. I covered her body with the comforter. Thankfully, she was not bleeding that much. I could say that her wound was not that serious. But it definitely didn't make any sense to me.
If it was not a serious wound, I had no idea why she passed out like that in front of me. As if her would was pretty serious. The elevator ding pulled me out of the the oceans of my thoughts. I know Leo was already there. I stepped out of the bedroom and found Leo stepping out of the elevator. He rushed towards me and I guided him into the bedroom. He was shocked to see a beautiful woman in my bed. He quickly opened his case that had all his tools. He first checked her up. "That's odd. She has a gunshot wound on her chest and her vitals are normal as if she was just scratched." Leo exclaimed while checking her up.
He wore his gloves and mask and then grabbed his torch. He pulled the handkerchief out of her wound and looked inside the wound. "Lucky. I can see the bullet. It will not be a problem. And looks like it has not made any worse damages. Hold this torch for me. I will get the bullet out and stitch her up." Leo informed me with a small smile on his face. I sighed in relief as I heard him. I was so worried that I might have hurt her pretty badly. I held the torch pointing at the wound on her chest. Leo first gave her a shot so she wouldn't be in pain. Then Leo quickly grabbed his tools. He made a little incision to pull the bullet out.
Leo jumped in horror as she suddenly growled. It felt like I heard a huge sized dog growling. Leo opened the wound and carefully removed the bullet from her chest. As he removed the bullet, she growled again. This time, it was louder than before. Even I jumped when she growled. Then Leo started stitching her up. With every single stitch, she was growling at Leo. It looked like she was not growling in pain. She was growling because Leo was touching her. I couldn't help but think. "Just hurry up, will you. How much time will you take for such a simple task?" I asked Leo angrily as she didn't stop growling. And Leo was terrified of her growls.
"Why are you pushing me? I am doing my job like I am supposed to. Tell me, who did you shot actually? Is she a vampire or werewolf or something else? Her growls definitely sounds animalistic." Leo asked me angrily. It was one of his habits. Whenever he was terrified, he tried to cover it up with his anger. I couldn't believe that he was afraid of that tiny and fragile woman. And she was actually unconscious. Hearing his rubbish, I couldn't help but shake my head in a disappointed way.
"Will you stop your nonsense and patch her up? There is no such things as vampires or werewolves. Come back to the real world. She is just a wounded woman. She might be in pain. That's why she is growling so loudly." I replied to Leo in an annoyed tone. Leo and his stupid fantasy stories. He just couldn't stop blabbing about that stupidity. That was the reason why we never took him with us, on our hunting trips. Because he almost gave Ashton a heart attack the only time we invited him on our trip. He rolled his eyes at me as he heard my response. He believed that mythical creatures like vampires, werewolves, dragons, mermaids etcetera actually existed in our world.
He was crazy and he almost gave us all heart attacks the night we took him with us. After that night, I never invited Leo on our hunting trips. I was not stupid. Once Leo was done with the stitches, he covered her wound with a bandaid. Once he was done, he pulled off his gloves and mask. The threw it in the dustbin as he walked towards the bathroom. I turned off the torch. She looked like a cat in peace, while sleeping. I couldn't help but stare at her beautiful face. I had no idea when my hand reached towards her face. I didn't realize that I was brushing my knuckles on her cheek softly.
And it was more surprising that she didn't growl while I was touching her cheek. Everything around her just felt strange and amazing. The elevator ding pulled me out of the daze of her beauty. My eyes widened as I realized that someone was at my place. Someone I had not called.
