Chapter 55 - Chapter 55: The Infinite Garden and the Secret Sanctuary

The sun was beginning to set over the jagged skyline of Fuchsia City, casting long, purple shadows across the stone benches where I sat. My body still ached from the adrenaline of the battle with Koga, and my mind was already racing toward the Safari Zone. But as I leaned back, closing my eyes for a brief moment of peace, a familiar, cool chime vibrated against the base of my skull.

*"Host, systemic recalibration complete. Update 4.0 has been successfully integrated into the G-Pro architecture,"* Nelly's voice buzzed, sounding smoother, more layered than before.

"Update?" I whispered, looking around to ensure no one was eavesdropping. "You usually give me a heads-up before you start tinkering with your internal wiring, Nelly."

*"This was a priority optimization, Host. Based on your current trajectory and the increasing logistical strain of roster rotation, the system has unlocked a localized 'Pocket Dimension'—the **Infinite Habitat Sanctuary**."*

I froze. "A pocket dimension? Like... a storage space?"

*"Think of it as a biological cloud server, Host. A portable PC system that transcends physical space. I have mapped a massive, multi-climatological environment within the G-Pro's sub-spatial layers. It contains forests, deserts, rivers, oceans, mountains, and even active volcanic vents. You can store an unlimited number of Pokémon here, and more importantly, they can live, interact, and train in their natural habitats while you travel."*

My jaw nearly hit the pavement. "You're telling me I have a Doraemon pocket for living creatures? I don't have to send them back to the Professor anymore? I don't have to worry about them being lonely in a lab enclosure?"

*"Correct. You can summon them or visit them at any time. However..."* Nelly paused, and I knew the 'however' was going to hurt. *"Maintaining a stable fold in space-time requires significant energy. Since your current 'Research Points' are insufficient, I have opened a credit line. You are now officially on a system-loan."*

I winced. "Debt. Great. First the League, now my own AI is charging me interest. But... for an infinite home for my team? Deal. Do it."

### The Call to Linda

Before I entered the space, I had to handle the paperwork—or at least the human side of it. I pulled out my terminal and dialed **Linda**.

"Regina! I saw the news from the Fuchsia Gym!" Linda's face appeared on the screen, beaming with pride. "A Charmeleon evolution? And a victory over Koga? You're becoming a household name in the research circles!"

"Thanks, Linda," I said, offering a tired but genuine smile. "Listen, I'm calling because I've made a major breakthrough. I've found... let's call it a 'Perfect Ecological Environment.' It's a private sanctuary with specialized climate controls that are far superior to the public labs. I'm moving my entire roster there."

Linda blinked, looking confused. "A private sanctuary? In Fuchsia? I didn't know there were any high-tier facilities available for private lease."

"It's a new project," I said vaguely, leaning on my 'Researcher' status. "Extremely high security. It ensures my Pokémon have 100% natural living conditions 24/7. It's much better for their data tracking."

Linda looked skeptical for a second, but then she nodded, a look of relief crossing her face. "Well, if you say it's better for them, I trust you. And actually, Regina, this is good news for me, too. If you're handling their housing through your own 'environment,' I won't have to pay the maintenance fees to the sanctuary in Cerulean anymore. I'll just add that amount to your monthly sponsorship stipend. You'll have more liquid cash for your travels."

I could have hugged her through the screen. "Linda, you're a lifesaver. Thank you."

"Just keep winning, Regina. That's all the thanks I need."

### Entering the Void

Once the call ended, I walked deep into the woods outside the city, ensuring I was completely alone.

"Nelly, take me in."

The world didn't blur; it dissolved. One moment I was standing on dry leaves, and the next, the air turned crisp and sweet, smelling of a thousand different blossoms and fresh rain.

I was standing on a grassy hill that overlooked a world that shouldn't exist. To my left, a massive, snow-capped mountain range pierced the clouds. To my right, a dense, ancient forest stretched as far as the eye could see. In the distance, I could see the shimmering blue of an ocean and the orange glow of a distant volcanic peak.

"This is... incredible," I whispered.

I grabbed every Pokéball on my belt and the ones stored in my digital bag. "Everyone, come out!"

In a massive explosion of white and red light, my entire team appeared on the grass. **Goldie (Charmeleon)**, **Nugget (Combusken)**, **Aqua (Wartortle)**, **Meadow (Ivysaur)**, **Sakura (Butterfree)**, **Amethyst (Nidorino)**, **Pearl (Nidorina)**, **Teddiursa**, **Horsea**, **Psyduck**, **Golbat**, **Fearow**, **Kadabra**, **Glaceon**, and **Pikachu**.

They all stood there, blinking in the sunlight, looking around at the vast landscape with utter confusion. Aqua sniffed the air, his feathery ears twitching, while Nugget let out a cautious chirp, her crimson feathers ruffling.

"I know you're all confused," I said, stepping into the center of the crowd. "But look around. This isn't a lab. This isn't a cage. This is your new home."

Meadow walked up to a nearby flower, sniffing it tentatively. She looked at me, her eyes questioning.

"I know it seems impossible," I continued, kneeling down so I was at their eye level. "I have to travel. I have to win the League. But I didn't want to leave you behind in a cramped room or a shared field with a hundred other Pokémon. This place belongs to **Nelly**—the system that helps me. It's a secret world. Here, you can live exactly how you were meant to live. And the best part? I can visit you every single day, no matter where I am in Kanto."

The skepticism was thick enough to cut with a Scyther's blade. Kadabra tapped his spoon against his chin, his psychic energy pulsing as if he were trying to find the "walls" of this reality.

"It's real, guys," I promised. "In exchange for this home, we just have to help Nelly with her tasks—training hard and collecting data. But for now? I want you to go find your favorite spots. This is your kingdom."

I looked them all in the eye, my voice turning serious. "But this is a secret. Not a word to wild Pokémon or other trainers. This stays between us. Understood?"

A chorus of cries and nods followed. They trusted me. If I said the sky in the pocket was safe, they believed it.

Finding Their Homes

"Alright, go find your spots!" I laughed. "Go explore!"

The team split up with instinctive precision, each heading toward the climate that called to their DNA.

The Volcano: Nugget and Goldie headed straight for the jagged, smoking peaks. Goldie, now a Charmeleon, loved the intense heat, while Nugget started practicing her kicks against the hardened lava rock. The fire types were finally in a place where they didn't have to hold back their heat for fear of starting a forest fire.

The River and Ocean:

Aqua, Horsea, and Psyduck waddled and flopped toward the water. Aqua, the veteran, dove into the deep river, while Horsea zipped through the currents like a sapphire bullet.

"Aqua! Horsea!" I called out. "Keep an eye on Ducky! He needs to learn to swim without panicking!"

Aqua gave a thumbs-up flipper, but it wasn't going well. Psyduck stood at the water's edge, clutching his head and staring at the ripples like they were made of acid. I realized I'd have to personally help him get over his fear of water before his "God-Brain" could focus on anything else.

The Caves:

Golbat and Kadabra vanished into the shadows of the mountain caves. Golbat clung to the ceiling, relishing the darkness, while Kadabra found a deep, quiet chamber where the psychic resonance was so strong it made the air hum. He sat cross-legged, his spoon floating in front of him.

The High Trees:

Fearow soared into the sky, his massive wings catching the simulated thermals before he picked a sturdy, ancient oak tree to begin weaving a nest fit for a predator.

The Meadow:

Sakura, my Butterfree, fluttered toward a field of flowers that looked like a rainbow had shattered on the ground. She found a grove of sap-filled trees and immediately began a graceful dance, claiming her territory.

The Glaciers:

Glaceon didn't hesitate. She bolted toward the glaciers on the mountain peak, her icy breath trailing behind her like a ribbon. She curled up on a ledge of pure blue ice, looking more at home than I'd ever seen her.

The Forest:

Amethyst and Pearl immediately headed into the thick brush of the forest, their tails intertwined. Teddy(Teddiursa) followed them, looking for a hollow tree to nap in, while Pikachu leaped from branch to branch, enjoying the high-voltage static in the air. Meadow (Ivysaur) found a sun-drenched clearing near the forest edge, planting her sturdy legs into the soil and opening her bud to soak up the rays.

I stood there for a long time, watching them. For the first time since I started this journey, the weight on my shoulders felt lighter. I wasn't just a trainer anymore; I was the warden of my own world. And finally I wasn't an orphan without a home. I had one right here with my pokemon.
