Chapter 6 - Chapter 6- Evil Spirit Encounter (2)

In the world of Psychic Love, evil spirits were described by the loser author, as sentient manifestations of psychic energy born from the collective thoughts, emotions, memories, and concepts of humanity. Because they were made purely of psychic energy, they could use supernatural abilities like human psychics and take on any form they desired. Unlike humans who required training, spirits could grow exponentially stronger based on the intensity of their wants and purpose.

Since every human possessed the Origin Gene, the Origin Gene allowed even those with dormant psychic abilities to see spirits clearly. However, normal people could not harm them, as any attack without psychic energy wouldn't have any effect against them. Spirits, in contrast, could freely interact with the physical world and harm humans despite lacking a stable body.

This imbalance made spirits absolute predators against ordinary people. They fed on fear and chaos, growing stronger without resistance while fulfilling their purpose. Because of this, psychic exorcists existed to hunt them down and maintain peace in human cities.

Thanks to these exorcists, most places where ordinary people lived remained calm and stable. People could go about their daily lives without constantly fearing the supernatural. However, that fragile safety could collapse the moment a spirit appeared without warning.

Back in the present, the evil spirit sensed a stare and slowly turned toward it. Its many eyes locked onto a mother and her child, both frozen in fear at the edge of the alleyway. Its long mouth stretched wider across its distorted body as it spoke, "Heh… found my first meal."

Its body glowed brighter as if gathering power, and the air around it grew heavy. Without warning, its arms shot outward toward the mother and son. The attack came so suddenly that there was no time to react.

Hoshiko snapped out of her fear and shoved Akihiro away with all her strength. "RUUUN!" she screamed as panic filled her voice. At that exact moment, dozens of large brown arms burst out from the alleyway, stretching into the open street.

Passersby froze as their eyes widened in shock at the horrifying sight. Akihiro fell onto the ground, staring in disbelief as everything slowed before him. His mother stood there with a terrified expression as the arms continued to spread.

One of the arms suddenly grabbed Hoshiko and yanked her back toward the alley like a greedy child. The other arms shot out wildly, grabbing anyone within reach. Panic exploded across the street as people began to scream and run.

"WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!"

"RUN! GET THE FUCK AWAY!"

"HELP! SOMEONE HELP ME!"

People shoved past each other in blind fear as the arms chased them down. No matter how fast they ran, the arms were longer and faster, catching them one after another. Screams echoed as bodies were dragged helplessly toward the alley.

Akihiro's mind struggled to process what he had just seen. He knew it was a spirit, but seeing his mother get taken so easily shattered his thoughts and emotions. His body froze in place, unable to react.

Before he could move, an arm wrapped tightly around him. "Kukh!" he grunted as the pressure crushed against his body. The force dragged him across the ground toward the alley.

"Damn it…!" he cursed as his mind snapped back to reality. Fear mixed with anger as he struggled uselessly against the grip. His small body offered no resistance as he was pulled closer to the monster.

The arms retracted, dragging their victims into the alley as screams filled the air. Hoshiko, still trapped, saw her son being taken as well and cried out in terror. "AKIHIRO!"

"MOM!" he shouted back as panic gripped him.

The spirit opened its massive mouth, revealing a hollow darkness inside. It laughed loudly at the sight of their fear and suffering. "HAHAHAHA! You humans are way too full of useless emotions!"

A middle-aged man struggled violently within the arm holding him. "DON'T FUCK WITH US! WEREN'T YOU HUMAN TOO?! LET'S TALK THIS OUT, DAMN IT!" he shouted desperately.

The spirit froze as its many eyes bulged unnaturally. Its body trembled as if the words had struck something deep within it. "Don't fuck with you…?" it repeated slowly.

Its voice twisted into something distorted and furious. "Weeelll… DOON'T FUCK WITH ME EITHER." his arm tightened around the man instantly.

A sickening crack echoed as bones broke under the pressure. Blood burst from his nose, eyes, ears, and mouth as his scream turned into a choking gurgle. His body went limp as the grip crushed him completely.

The spirit's body wobbled violently as rage consumed it. "DOOON'T PUT ME ON THE SAME PEDESTAL AS YOU, YOU DUMB BITCH!" it roared. "I GAVE UP MY HUMANITY THE DAY THAT I DIED!"

The evil spirit continued speaking, his voice turning heavy and bitter as he told his story. He said that he had once been an ordinary salaryman living a dull life, with the only problem being that he was born with polyphagia, a condition that left him constantly starving. "You think that sounds manageable?" he muttered as his body twitched.

"I LIVED LIKE HELL," he roared as his form trembled violently. He described waking up in the middle of the night again and again, forced to eat just to quiet the unbearable hunger clawing at his insides. Even when he tried to ignore it, the pain felt like his own body was eating itself alive.

He explained that the hunger never stopped, even when exhaustion crushed him after long workdays. His organs felt weak, his limbs numb, and his throat dry as sand as if all moisture had been drained from him. That constant suffering made him late at work, only to be greeted with insults and humiliation.

"THAT DAMN BITCH OF A BOSS," he snarled as his voice cracked with rage. He admitted that his hunger made him irritable, pushing coworkers away until they whispered behind his back. "If it wasn't for the law, I would've choked every single one of them," he added coldly.

He ranted that even the smallest accusation could destroy him without question. "They would've ganged up on me like animals," he said as his eyes twitched. His resentment grew heavier with every word, thick enough to suffocate the air around him.

As he spoke, the people trapped in his grasp struggled quietly, their bodies shaking with fear. Hoshiko and Akihiro remained among them, unable to move as the grip tightened around their bodies. Their breaths came out shallow and uneven.

"AND WORST OF ALL, I WAS ALWAYS BROKE!" he suddenly screamed. He explained that all his money went to feeding his endless hunger, leaving him with nothing. "THIS DAMN HUNGER RUINED MY LIFE!" he shouted as his body pulsed with fury.

He described losing his job and failing to find another because of his temper. With nowhere to go, he was thrown onto the streets and forced to survive on scraps. He fought other homeless people and even stray cats and dogs just to eat.

"UNTIL I DIED LIKE TRASH," he spat as his voice dropped. He recalled being beaten to death by a street thug, his life ending without meaning or mercy. For a brief moment, his body went still.

Then his entire form flared violently with energy. "AND THAT'S WHEN I BECAME AN EVIL SPIRIT!" he roared as the alley shook slightly from the surge. "BORN FROM ALL THAT HATE!"

"NOW I CAN FINALLY TAKE MY REVENGE!" he shouted, his voice echoing harshly. "SO I'M GOING TO FUCKING EAT ALL OF YOU AND SATISFY THIS HUNGER!" he declared as his grin widened unnaturally.

"No, please don't!"

"LET ME GO, I DON'T WANT TO DIE!"

"SOMEONE SAVE US!"

The spirit's gaze shifted toward the crushed man from earlier. "I CHOOSE YOU, YOU LOUDMOUTH," he said with a twisted smile. His massive mouth stretched open, revealing countless jagged teeth as thick saliva dripped down in strands.

He lifted the man's body like it weighed nothing and then bit down at the center. A violent CLANK exploded as his teeth slammed shut, sending a burst of air that shook the alley and rattled everything nearby. The impact snapped the body in half as blood sprayed outward in a wide arc.

Slowly the lower half was yanked away while the upper half remained trapped in his mouth. The exposed spine stretched out, white and bloodied, like a stick pulled from roasted meat. Flesh tore apart as blood splattered across the captives, staining their faces and clothes.

The people trembled violently as their breaths turned ragged. Their hearts pounded so loudly it drowned their thoughts. Fear wrapped around them like chains.

"AHHHHH! STOP!"

"THIS CAN'T BE REAL!"

"I DON'T WANT TO DIE!"

Some cried uncontrollably while others struggled harder against the arms. Hoshiko's strength began to fade as tears streamed down her face. "Please… someone… save my son…" she begged weakly.

Akihiro saw everything, from the chaos to the brutal way the man was eaten. The spirit swallowed the remaining lower half, causing more blood to drip and scatter across the ground. His grin only grew wider as he fed.

But what shook Akihiro the most was not the violence. It was his mother, crying and begging right in front of him. His heart dropped as something deep inside him cracked.

In his past life, he had never known this kind of love. Now, the person he had accepted as his first ever mother was about to be taken away from him. That realization struck deeper than any fear.

His heart pounded wildly as heat spread through his body. His veins pulsed while his breathing turned erratic and uneven. He could only stare as everything continued.

One by one, the remaining people were fed into the spirit's mouth. His body glowed brighter with each victim as his presence grew heavier. Soon, only Akihiro and Hoshiko remained.

Hoshiko cried as she begged desperately for her son's life. "Please… take me instead… just let him live…" she pleaded as her voice broke. The spirit laughed loudly at her desperation.

"AND WHY WOULD I SPARE A FOOD?" he mocked while staring at her. His gaze shifted to Akihiro, whose expression was filled with shock and something deeper. "LOOK AT HIM, THAT'S BECAUSE YOU'RE WEAK," he added as he laughed harder.

Hoshiko ignored him and looked only at her son. His body trembled uncontrollably, his face flushed and soaked with sweat. His eyes burned with something intense yet empty.

"I'm sorry… Akihiro…" she whispered.

Her body was suddenly lifted higher. The spirit positioned her above his open mouth, ready to drop her. Akihiro remained frozen.

Everything slowed as if time itself dragged forward. He could not move, speak, or even think properly. He watched as his mother slowly fell.

The spirit stared directly at him, waiting for a reaction. Hoshiko's body descended inch by inch toward the jagged teeth. The distance between her and death disappeared as the evil spirit mouth snapped shut.

Akihiro's watching all this his body suddenly gave out as if something inside him collapsed. His body losing its tension, as he was grasped lifelessly at the spirits hand.

The spirit laughed loudly at the sight of the boys despair."HAHAHAHA, YOU USELESS CHILD. YOU COULDN'T EVEN SAVE YOUR OWN MOTHER. HAHAHAHA"
