Chapter 14 - Raphael vs. The Chimeras: The Poisonous Assault

Right then, the massive monitors lining the laboratory walls flashed to life. The screens displayed a dark, shadowy figure shrouded in mystery.

"It is finally over, One," the Scientist's distorted voice echoed through the high-tech lab. "You have been a thorn in my spine for far too long. All of my experiments, my mutations, my Chimeras you have ruthlessly destroyed them. It ends today. For the past week that you have been attacking my operations, I have been actively harvesting your data. I put that tactical data and other raw mutations directly into Kymera, making him strong enough to break through your defenses and finally hurt you. It is pure luck that you ran straight to me... straight into one of my primary laboratories."

With a series of loud mechanical hisses, multiple glass containment tubes around the perimeter began to vent steam and slide open. Dozens of terrifying new Chimeras and grotesque mutation monsters stepped out, their eyes glowing with predatory hunger.

Raphael slowly forced himself to his feet, his crimson force pulsing as his body steadily burned away the last remnants of the paralyzing venom. He wiped the blood from his lip, staring defiantly at the screen. "What do you even want from me? What do you want from these citizens? Why do you keep kidnapping them and creating these monsters these mutations?!"

"Revenge!" the Scientist snarled, his shadowy silhouette shaking with sudden rage. "Revenge for what the Superhero Organization allowed to happen to me! For what Superior Man did!"

Raphael's eyes widened slightly. "Superior Man?"

"You heroes think you can do whatever you want and get away with it even the murder of an innocent girl! The murder of an innocent family!" the Scientist shouted, his voice cracking with decades of buried grief and malice. "I must have my revenge. To do that, I must get stronger. And as a scientist, the only strength I know is research. I chose to work with a certain organization that provides me with basically infinite money. To me, these citizens are nothing more than lab rats to create the ultimate being a weapon powerful enough to help me achieve my goal of utterly destroying Superior Man! But of course, you came along to ruin my progress."

The screen flickered as the Scientist let out a dark, mocking laugh. "But by watching you, your DNA, and your unique spirit energy, you have shown me that I can create the ultimate being no matter what organism they are fused with. Your DNA and your spirit energy are the ultimate keys. I need you."

Raphael stood tall, his posture firm despite his injuries. "I'm sorry to hear that. If it's true that the Superhero Organization covered up the murder of your loved ones... that's a tragedy. But that doesn't give you the right to go around destroying other people's families! You're not taking an ounce of my DNA, and you're not getting my spirit energy. I'm not helping you create anything."

"The scientist laughed louder, the sound echoing coldly over the intercoms. "It is already too late, boy. When Kymera stabbed you with his tail, he did far more than just poison your bloodstream. He extracted a core sample of your genetic makeup. Your energy is already actively downloading into my database as we speak. All we need now is more."

Raphael dropped back into a low, focused fighting stance, his crimson aura flaring back to life with a fierce, brilliant intensity.

"You're not taking any more of my energy," Raphael said, his voice echoing with absolute determination. "This ends right here, right now. Just answer this question are you responsible for this superdrug?"

The monitor crackled as the Scientist let out a dry, prideful chuckle. "Yes. That is one of the primary reasons why this organization decided to work with me in the first place. The advanced genetic research I had been doing... they took it, synthesized it, and used it to create this superdrug."

Hearing those words, Raphael tightly clutched his fist. The memory of the terrified, helpless little kid he had saved earlier flashed vividly through his mind a child whose life had almost been destroyed by the very poison this man helped unleash.

A fierce, protective rage burned away the last remnants of the venom in his veins. Raphael glared directly at the screen, his crimson aura flaring into a roaring torrent of energy. "Consider all of your experiments obsolete."

He looked forward, bracing himself as the army of mutated Chimeras bared their fangs, stepping forward to surround him with Kymera leading the charge.

Right next to Kymera stood two high-level Chimeras. The first was a massive, lumbering behemoth a terrifying blend of a predatory alien lion species and an armored rhinoceros, boasting extra arachnid arms protruding from its back like a monstrous entity named Cerberax. Right beside it was Experiment OG 6, a grotesque creature with a cluster of hyper-perceptive compound eyes surrounding its face, twitching antennas, and heavy beetle-like wings folded tightly behind its back.

The Scientist's voice rang out triumphantly over the laboratory speakers. "You are doomed, One! I engineered them specifically to defeat you especially Experiment OG 6. Do it now!"

Experiment OG 6 stepped forward, its multi-faceted eyes glowing with an eerie, cerebral light as it raised its clawed hands toward Raphael.

The massive Cerberax roared, the sound vibrating through the steel lab. "Hurry up! As soon as he's knocked out, he's ours to take! It would have been nice to personally try out these new upgrades on him, but Father's orders come first."

Raphael held his low fighting stance, his brow furrowing as he watched the beetle-winged creature. What are they talking about? he thought, keeping his guard up. It doesn't look like he's actually doing anything physically.

But suddenly, Raphael felt a sharp, alien pressure clawing at the edges of his Spiritual Mind.

Experiment OG 6 was executing a highly advanced psychic assault, initially locking its hyper-perceptive eyes onto Raphael to invade his standard mental mind. It attempted to dig deep into his consciousness, aggressively targeting his immediate thoughts, memories, and dreams to twist them against him. However, no matter how hard the psychic beast pushed, it realized it couldn't budge Raphael's mental defenses at all; his individual mind was completely locked down like a solid fortress.

Realizing it couldn't break through on a standard psychological level, Experiment OG 6 pivoted its strategy, attempting to bypass his mental mind entirely by attacking his spiritual mind.

To do this, it had to breach the Imagination Realm a vast, infinite conceptual plane that connects every single consciousness and spirit throughout the entire omniverse. It is a realm of pure thought, where dreams, ideas, and spirits align. Every living soul is anchored to it, and Experiment OG 6 was using its specialized psycho-powers to project its own spirit directly into Raphael's sector of the Imagination Realm, channeling its mental energy to violently disrupt and shatter his consciousness from the deep inside out.

But the moment the creature materialized within the white void of Raphael's spiritual mind, a crimson flash blinded it. Raphael appeared right in front of the beast, completely unaffected, his spiritual form radiating a blinding, unyielding aura.

Experiment OG 6 gasped, its compound eyes widening in pure terror. "How?! Impossible!"

"I'm perfectly in tune with my spiritual mind," Raphael said coldly.

Before the psychic creature could retreat, Raphael wound back and drove a massive, spiritually charged punch clean into its face. The impact shattered the mental link, sending Experiment OG 6 flying backward at terminal velocity out of the conceptual plane.

In the physical world, Raphael simply stood with his hands crossed, watching closely. A millisecond later, the devastating kinetic force from the Imagination Realm punch translated perfectly into the physical world. BOOM! The invisible shockwave struck Experiment OG 6's physical body, violently launching it backward across the laboratory floor until it crashed into a steel terminal, completely knocked out cold.

"Impossible!" the Scientist screamed through the monitors, his voice cracking in sheer disbelief. "I engineered his psychic prowess specifically for this task! How did you bypass his control?!"

Raphael relaxed his posture slightly, shaking his head. "Psychic mind powers don't really work on me. Trust me, my mother and my two siblings use them on me all the time. Whenever my mom grounds me, she uses her power to trap me in a brutal mental loop. It feels like I've been sitting in time-out for decades when it's only been a few minutes in reality."

A faint, amused smirk crossed his face before fading back into seriousness. "And don't even get me started on my brother and sister. Whenever I do something to get them upset, they always try to mentally and spiritually torture me, and I have to constantly fight to escape. Your experiment's mind games are nothing compared to my family."

The Scientist's voice distorted with pure fury, screaming over the intercoms, "Get him! Bring him to me alive! And you, Kymera keep gathering more data! Sting him again and extract the rest of his energy!"

Raphael's expression hardened as he snapped back into focus, dropping into a flawless, aerodynamic fighting stance. His crimson aura exploded outward like a roaring fire, completely illuminating the laboratory.

"Let's see what else you've got," Raphael muttered. With a concussive burst of speed, he rushed headlong into the swarming army of monsters.

Raphael charged directly at the nearest mutation, his fingers blurring as he struck a cluster of vital pressure points with pinpoint accuracy. Moving fluidly, he rushed to the next monster, hitting its pressure points and dropping it instantly. But as he scanned the room, he looked confused—the monsters were already pushing themselves back up, snapping their jaws.

That should have kept them paralyzed for way longer, Raphael thought, his brow furrowing.

He deepened his focus, channeling his vision to perceive the literal flow of energy within their bodies. His eyes widened slightly as the truth became clear. "The Scientist was right," he muttered. "He made radical improvements to these mutation monsters. They don't have standard veins, and some of them are missing internal organs entirely. Their bodies are programmed completely differently."

He adjusted his stance, a confident smirk returning to his face. "But it doesn't matter."

Raphael activated his upgraded martial arts technique: Empty Fist, Stage 2 (Mu no Ken: Daini Dankai). This advanced form allowed him to strike beyond the mere physical framework. He began attacking the flow of energy itself, striking metaphysical pressure points that resonated directly into the spiritual structure of the Chimeras. With every precise blow, he completely shut their body parts down, cutting off the energetic pathways so their life force could no longer flow to their limbs.

Even as their bodies began to fail, the mutations kept coming, completely surrounding him. Raphael dodged gracefully around the massive, high-tech machinery of the lab. As structural support tubes began fracturing and falling from the ceiling, he seamlessly deployed his Tactile Telekinesis. Extending his mental reach through his physical touch, he manipulated the falling laboratory structures, using the heavy metal to create improvisational shields, crush incoming beasts, and shoot massive steel debris forward like projectiles.

"He's destroying everything!" the Scientist screamed frantically over the intercoms, watching his expensive equipment shatter. "Hurry up and finish him!"

Taking advantage of the chaotic debris, Kymera sneaked up completely undetected from behind. With a sudden, lethal strike, his jagged scorpion tail whipped forward, piercing cleanly through Raphael's skin.

Raphael screamed in agony as the specialized poison flooded his system, a massive wave of numbness instantly freezing part of his body. Kymera watched closely, expecting him to collapse entirely, but Raphael's body was reacting differently now. His internal crimson energy raged against the toxin, healing him significantly quicker than before. His cells rapidly regenerated, neutralizing and destroying the poison mid-stream.

Before Kymera could execute a follow-up strike, Raphael countered with blinding speed, driving a devastating uppercut straight into Kymera's jaw that launched the hybrid backward.

Suddenly, the automated defense systems of the laboratory fully activated. Massive turrets swiveled, shooting high-intensity lasers directly at Raphael. He crossed his arms, bracing his crimson aura to block the burning light, but the distraction left an opening.

Cerberax appeared directly in front of him out of the smoke. Before Raphael could react, ten of the behemoth's powerful arms came slamming forward in a synchronized barrage, punching Raphael with immense force and sending him flying across the room. Raphael dug his hand into the steel flooring, scraping to a halt, and immediately flew forward to retaliate. The two powerhouses collided in a brutal, high-velocity exchange, trading heavy punches back and forth that shook the laboratory's foundation.

At the same time, the facility's automated Hyperspace Lasers caught Raphael in the crossfire. The advanced beams burned through his defenses, leaving deep, painful bruises across his skin.

A flash of panic hit him. I need to hurry up and end this, he realized, gritting his teeth against the pain.

Focusing his energy into the edge of his hand, Raphael formed a razor-sharp blade of crimson force. With a swift karate chop, he cleanly severed several of Cerberax's extra arms. The massive mutation roared in agonizing pain, but it instinctively swung its remaining massive arm in a desperate backhand, hitting Raphael and knocking him backward.

Cerberax roared again, its alien lion eyes bloodshot with rage as it rushed forward to finish its assault, smashing through laboratory equipment to crush the hero. Raphael, reading the trajectory perfectly, ducked low, completely dodging the charging behemoth. He pivoted on his heel and unleashed a devastating sidekick straight into the beast's ribs, the impact sending Cerberax flying across the room and crashing hard into the swarming line of lesser mutations.

Raphael took a deep breath, steadying his footing as he looked at the endless horde still pressing forward. "Where are they even coming from?" he muttered, looking around the decimated room. "There's no way this single lab has this many of them stored away."

His eyes scanned the perimeter until they locked onto a massive, glowing teleporter tucked into the back of the facility. The Chimeras and mutations were continuously materializing through the portal, spawning directly from an off-site location.

Seeing multiple lasers tracking back onto him, Raphael acted quickly. He used his Tactile Telekinesis, slamming his hands into the ground to violently mold and reshape the metal flooring, bending the structures upward to block the incoming laser fire and force the turret fire toward the charging mutations. Using the distraction, he rushed straight toward the main control terminal.

Raphael slammed his hand onto the main computer console, extending his telekinesis directly into the hardware. The physical contact allowed him to mentally interface with the system, treating the computer network as an extension of his own mind. He rapidly navigated the encrypted architecture, searching for the source coordinates.

"Perfect," Raphael muttered, finding the override switch. "Now I just gotta find where this thing is connected to. Maybe I can trace it back to his primary laboratory."

With a sharp mental command, he completely shut down the teleporter, the glowing portal sputtering out into darkness.

The Scientist's face flashed violently onto the main monitor, his voice cracking with panic. "How are you doing this?! Why can't I stop your override?!"

"The computer is a part of my mind now," Raphael replied coldly, his consciousness digging deeper into the encrypted database.

Realizing he was losing control, the Scientist initiated a hard override from his remote location. "Fine! I will delete everything before you can read it!" The terminal screen flashed red as a global data-wipe sequence began, rapidly erasing the lab's memory banks.

"Damn it," Raphael cursed, using his mental link to fight the deletion protocol, forcing the power back on and constructing a secure, isolated pathway. "I'm not leaving empty-handed."

Working against the collapsing system, Raphael initiated a high-speed data transfer, forcing the remaining files into a portable physical drive connected to the console. It became a frantic race against time the machine's memory was fading by the millisecond as the file compiled. By the time the connection severed completely, half of the information had been permanently deleted, but the drive popped out of the slot.

Raphael grabbed the drive and shoved it securely into his pocket. "Hopefully this got everything I need."

The moment he turned around, he was met with a blinding light. Both Kymera and Cerberax had recovered, standing side-by-side with their jaws unhinged, channeling massive reservoirs of raw energy. Simultaneously, they unleashed a colossal, combined energy blast straight from their mouths.

Raphael thrust his hands forward, flaring his crimson aura to its absolute limit to block the incoming torrent. The sheer, overwhelming kinetic force of the combined blast hit him like a meteor. The explosion tore through the structural walls, sending Raphael flying violently backward through the ceiling, completely launching him out of the subterranean facility.

He breached the surface, leaving the underground base and the theme park's lower levels entirely behind. Raphael crashed out into the open air of the amusement park, skipping hard across the concrete ground and hitting multiple structures outside the main gates before finally coming to a halt.

Coughing up a speck of blood, Raphael slowly pushed himself back up onto his feet, rubbing his heavily bruised ribs. As the smoke cleared outside the main gates of the amusement park, he looked up to see Kymera and Cerberax walking deliberately toward him through the wreckage.

Both of them held a glowing vial of the synthesized Superdrug in their hands.

"This ends today," Kymera stated coldly. "I will drain every ounce of your energy and poison you until you can never move again. You are coming with us."

Cerberax let out a deafening, lion-like roar that shook the surrounding asphalt. Without another word, both monsters slammed the Superdrug vials directly into their systems. Their muscles violently convulsed and expanded, their frames growing larger, bulkier, and more grotesque as a surge of volatile energy radiated from their bodies.

With a concussive shockwave, both villains rushed toward Raphael at blinding speeds. Raphael ducked and status-checked his movements, barely dodging their initial synchronized onslaught.

They got way faster, he realized grimly.

As their missed strikes pulverized nearby buildings, sending concrete shattering into the streets, Raphael felt a wave of urgency. I need to hurry up and finish this.

Suddenly, through the flying debris, he spotted a building facade fracturing, about to collapse directly onto a young woman who was walking in a panic. Gritting his teeth, Raphael caught both Kymera and Cerberax with a sweeping, heavy counter-strike, sending both behemoths flying backward into the park gates.

Using that split second, he rushed toward the woman. He scooped her up in a flash, leaping clear just as the massive concrete structure slammed into the ground where she had stood.

She looked up at him, trembling. "Are... are you okay?"

"Go! Get to safety!" Raphael urged. She nodded frantically, running off while yelling a breathless, "Thank you!"

Because his attention was entirely split on saving the civilian, Raphael didn't notice a shadow looming from the dust. Kymera appeared directly behind him, his upgraded scorpion tail snapping forward like a whip. Raphael reacted instinctively, twisting his body to dodge, but the strike was too fast. The jagged stinger missed his torso but pierced deeply into his leg.

A terrifyingly familiar numbness instantly flooded his limb, the poison spreading like wildfire.

"That's not going to work," Raphael muttered, trying to force his leg to move. But as he looked down, his eyes widened. What's going on? I thought my body adapted to this venom earlier!

Raphael focused his perception, scanning his internal energy flow. To his horror, he saw the truth. The toxin wasn't just attacking his physical cells or biological nervous system anymore the Superdrug enhancement had upgraded the venom, allowing it to seep all the way into his metaphysical core. It was actively paralyzing his soul.

"My boy," Kymera mocked, hovering close. "Our Father upgraded this poison specifically for you. It paralyzes your very spirit."

"Don't forget about me!" Cerberax roared, appearing on his blind side.

The massive beast unleashed a devastating uppercut using three of his fists simultaneously, launching Raphael into the sky. Cerberax pursued him relentlessly, throwing a barrage of punches so incredibly fast and precise that the friction heated the surrounding air into blistering plasma. The strikes left trails of residual flames across Raphael's armor, concluding with a massive hammer-fist that slammed him violently back into the pavement.

Raphael landed hard, heavily bruised and coughing up blood. His soul felt completely bound, freezing his muscles. Both monsters charged at him to deliver the final blow. With his movements severely restricted, Raphael tried to dodge, but his paralyzed body could only do so much.

Kymera's scorpion tail struck him again, hitting multiple vital spots in rapid succession, pumping more soul-paralyzing venom into his system. Together, Kymera and Cerberax landed a massive, synchronized final hit that launched Raphael skidding across the concrete.

Raphael lay there, completely still, paralyzed down to his very soul.

Kymera hovered directly above him, his eyes glowing as he monitored the data feed. "It's over. I have drained an immense amount of your energy, and we have gathered all the tactical data Father requires. Now that you are completely paralyzed, you are coming with us."

Struggling against the metaphysical chains locking his spirit, Raphael growled, his voice strained but defiant. "I'm... not helping you guys... with anything. You're not using me... as a science experiment."

Deep within him, where the poison couldn't touch, his unyielding battle spirit suddenly surged forward. Denied physical or spiritual movement, Raphael channeled his Tactile Telekinesis to its absolute limit, multiplying its force exponentially. Using his telekinesis to physically manipulate his own locked limbs, he forced his arm forward, throwing a telekinetically amplified punch that struck the air, unleashing a shockwave that sent the hovering Kymera flying violently into the sky.

Kymera recoiled in mid-air, his systems firing warnings. "Impossible! He is paralyzed all the way down to his soul!"

Raphael forced himself up, his body trembling violently as his telekinesis acted like an external skeleton, forcing his frozen muscles to move. "You're right," Raphael breathed heavily, his eyes locked on his enemies. "I am paralyzed down to the soul. But my Tactile Telekinesis... that's what's gonna allow me to keep moving. If my spirit can't move my body, my force will move both my body and my spirit!"

"You talk too much!" Cerberax bellowed, materializing behind him.

But Raphael was already reading the air currents. Expecting the ambush, he fluidly dodged the strike. "I'm not falling for that again!"

Raphael drove a heavy counter-strike straight into the side of Cerberax's ribs. Upon contact, he released a massive burst of telekinetic force, sending high-frequency vibrations rippling directly through the beast's internal structure. Cerberax gasped, coughing up dark alien blood as his footing fractured.

Suddenly, with a sickening crunch, Cerberax forced all ten of his extra arms to burst forth and appear completely, his muscles tearing through his skin. All ten limbs rushed forward in a chaotic storm of meat and claws. "I'm gonna crush you into dust!"

Raphael held his ground, crossing his arms to block the initial onslaught. As he held the line, his indomitable battle spirit began to actively burn away the soul-poison, slowly restoring his natural movement. He transitioned from blocking to gracefully dodging, weaving through the mountain of fists, and countering with precise, tactical blows.

Desperate, Cerberax went completely berserk, throwing a million punches a second. Raphael blurred through the plasma-heated strikes, but the sheer stray kinetic force of the attacks he was dodging was devastating the environment shattering remaining buildings and sending shockwaves tearing into the sky.

Seeing the collateral damage and the suffering of the city around them, Raphael knew he had to anchor the fight.

Using his Tactile Telekinesis, he instantly grounded his feet and legs to the bedrock of the earth, locking himself immovably into place. He wound back his arm, coating his fist in a dense, pressurized layer of telekinetic force, and threw a single, definitive punch.

His fist struck Cerberax dead-center, the telekinetic vibration exploding outward inside the beast's body. The shockwave completely shut down all of the monster's internal biological and energetic systems simultaneously. Cerberax's eyes rolled back into his head, and the massive beast collapsed forward, completely passed out cold.

Watching from a nearby rooftop, Kymera's analytical mind calculated a zero-percent chance of victory. "I need to get out of here," he muttered.

Suddenly, the Scientist's frantic voice rang through Kymera's internal comms. "Hurry up and retreat! We have gathered more than enough data from his spiritual output! Get out of there now!"

Kymera turned around to flee, but a cold voice spoke directly behind him. "Yeah, I don't think so."

Before Kymera could leap, Raphael appeared, his fingers blurring as he struck multiple high-tier spiritual pressure points across Kymera's modified frame. The metaphysical disruption completely severed Kymera's energy flow, causing the hybrid warrior to drop like a stone, completely incapacitated.

Raphael reached down, ripping the communication device right out of Kymera's ear. He held it to his mouth, his voice dripping with absolute promise. "I will find you."

On the other end of the line, the Scientist let out a dark, chilling laugh despite the loss of his lab. "I will find you first, One." The comm line went dead with a sharp click.

Raphael tossed the device aside and turned around, looking back toward the main amusement park. In the distance, a massive explosion tore through the horizon the main battlefield where the other heroes were engaged was escalating rapidly.

Ice Cream Universe land... Raphael thought, taking a deep breath. I need to hurry up and get back to the group.

He looked around at the severe structural damage caused by his high-velocity brawl with the Chimeras. Extending both hands outward, Raphael unleashed a massive, sweeping wave of his Tactile Telekinesis, physically lifting collapsed beams, re-aligning shattered storefronts, and stabilizing the broken infrastructure to secure the citizens.

With the immediate area cleared and secured, Raphael turned toward the smoke of the main conflict, bursting forward at incredible speeds to rejoin the rest of the heroes in the final battle.
