Chapter 8 - Going Back Home

Blood was puzzled by the message and instinctively touched the octagonal pendant bestowed by his grandmother before her death. It was still shining with a glow as always.

Wishing to grab for more answers, he went to sit close to Ballock before glancing at the wolf. It seemed the wolf was really exhausted.

It was fast asleep. 'seems the wolf won't be a problem…'

Though he had some healing pills which could help the wolf speed up its recovery, he was reluctant to release such a pill. Those pills are precious and cost a lot, especially the grade he had. Who knows what the wolf would do after. His kindness might be the source of his death.

There are so many tales he'd read.

Being the only one awake he focused his attention on the panel still glowing red in front of him. There were different signatures at the top. And below them were some words, it seemed it belonged to the signatures.

This was its main background!

One of the signatures labeled as 'notification' was glowing green. He raised his hand and stretched it out hoping to feel it, but his hand passed through as if the panel was an empty air.

Honestly, Blood felt some changes a couple of minutes ago, but he simply couldn't put his fingers on it. His senses were strengthened; his view opened. It was a new feeling and most considerably, he noticed when he ran, he didn't get tired at all.

He was only in stage-3 of the Iron-realm. Also, he couldn't progress further all these years because any ounce of energy he gathered in his Spiritual space would be gone immediately it entered.

But this never stopped him from gathering or accomplishing his dreams—the central academy.

There were plenty of resources in there. It would sped his cultivation but alas, the first prerequisite was that one must be at least a mid-stage cultivator of the Iron-realm.

He couldn't get past the low-stages, how would he enter the mid-stages if his energy would unanimously disappear each time he cultivates. Anyway, that didn't stop him, he kept going.

It seemed hope was not completely lost. He overheard his parents conversing and picked that one's strength could be increased and enhanced by constant battles. And so, he took it upon himself and thereafter the forest became his battleground.

He didn't dare go deep though and maintained the outer region.

Only Iron-realm and primitive beasts could be seen here. He fought and tempered his body, and it really worked. It made him able to walk for more minutes. But he had a thought,

'since this could happen maybe his realm might increase by itself, or his energy disappearance might stop' but he realized that his body took his energy even faster than before when he cultivates, he was perplexed at this change in rhythm.

But a change entail something was going on. What he was doing was somewhat working even though it was unknown to him.

'what is this?' he thought, extremely confused.

At this thought, the lettered panel moved upward until it got to the top and stopped as new words appeared in his view…

Blood wanted to explore more but he restrained himself. He had to take a look at Ballock and ensure his safety before thinking of what to do with the wolf.

He wouldn't wait to become a meal for an awakened hungry wolf!

Blood appeared before Ballock who had stopped shivering. He placed his hand on Ballock's forehead which was slightly hot. He saw his parents do this sometimes. He obviously wasn't a healer.

Those individuals with healer talents were highly sought-after on anywhere in the human domain. They could mix and use alchemy products more apparently. He gave Ballock two mid grade-1 healing pills.

Growl…

Ballock growled instantly while red hues came off his body from time to time. Blood stood, his hands on his waist. He had to get Ballock home for proper care.

He then looked at the wolf at the corner.

The wolf was thoroughly wounded. It would take a lot more time to recover naturally without proper healing pills or measures. Who knows when another beast would come in with the smell of blood in the air.

The Cobra's carcass was still lying on the ground. He had to harvest its crystal and also check if there's a beast core, though he wasn't expectant.

Beast crystals are found in every beast killed except the primitive beast, since they are the most ordinary. These crystals can then be sold in the market and stores. Blood had heard they have high price tag.

Contrary to beast crystals. Beast cores were not found on every beast. One has to be really fortunate to claim a beast core of a dead beast. Beast cores are found mostly in mutated beast who encountered some proper or improper opportunity which led them mutating!

The carcass, crystal, and cores of such beast would procure a hefty number of resources. It was 5 to 10 times or even more the value of normal beast...

They are more powerful than their pairs. Their cores are more valuable than the crystals of higher beast.

Blood quickly cut the Cobra's body open. He went to its head and search for a core, but there was none. It didn't bother him though, so he searched through its body and found a crystal.

The crystal was round with sharp spikes around it. He thanked goodness that he had been careful, or those spikes might have injured him. Also, with the properties of snakes he might have been poisoned.

Blood looked out. He had seen crystals many times but had never had one for himself! Throughout the days he came to the forest he had only killed primitive beasts.

Although, he also fought Iron realm beasts but with his cultivation at the lower stages, the beasts would end up running away or he would be the one running when he encountered more powerful beasts.

He finally killed an iron-realm beast at the sixth stage! He was satisfied even though he had a helper!

On the thought of a helper, he quickly stored the beast carcass in his spatial ring. He went closer to the wolf and stood just three feet before the beast.

He shouldn't let it die, should he?

However, he wouldn't help it here. He had to take it home. It was just a cub, how was it so powerful? Already above the mid stages of the iron-realm.

Furthermore, since it was still a child it would be easier to tame. Also, if it could remain docile, he would consider it a gift for his little Ivory!

Blood took the wolf who was asleep and unaware it was lifted. It was really exhausted. Blood felt it soft fur. He patted it some more. He hadn't been so close to a wild beast except that they confront each other.

He took a small piece of cloth, wrapped the beast tightly leaving a chance of breathing and carried Ballock on his back before leaving the cave.

A hard, long journey awaits.
