Chapter 139 - Cap.136 - Fitting in

This year there were 6 boys and 5 girls in Gryffindor.

The boys were Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley, Neville Longbottom, Dean Thomas, Seamus Finnigan, and of course, Rigel Black.

The girls were Hermione Granger, Lavender Brown, Parvati Patil, Fay Dunbar and Kellah Leblanc.

[A/N: I gave Kellah a surname because she didn't have one. Furthermore, if Lavender's name appears as "Lilá" at any point, it is because that is how she is known in Brazil, I might have forgotten to change it, Seamus and Dean have the same problem, being known as "Simas" and "Dino" in Brazil.]

All six boys stayed in just one dormitory and would remain in the same dormitory for 7 years, when they graduated, the first-year students would inherit their room. Rigel found the room arrangement interesting, but that was it.

That room would be his room for 7 years, there were 6 beds already arranged, yet the room didn't seem crowded. Rigel loved magic.

Rigel went in first, he wanted to choose a bed, but realized it was pointless. Each trunk was already placed next to the beds, meaning the beds had been selected at random. He ended up with a bed more towards the middle of the room, he knew because Jack was already snoring, with a bag of sweets beside him.

He ate until he dropped.

Rigel ignored the monkey and watched the other boys go to their beds, seeing Seamus getting the bed closest to the window, his eyes gleaming.

"Hey! Seamus, right?" Rigel asked.

Seamus, exhausted, just wanted to collapse into bed, but Rigel's call left him stunned.

"Yes, I'm Seamus, and you are... Black?" He managed to remember Rigel's last name.

"You can call me Rigel." Rigel smiled, approaching and offering his hand. The other boys were already looking at them, their tiredness giving way to curiosity, except for Ron, who pursed his lips, thinking Rigel was trying to get their attention.

"Here, I'll give you a galleon if you switch beds with me." Rigel said, pulling out a galleon and holding it up in front of Seamus.

For Rigel, a galleon is as common as grass, but to the other boys in that room, that coin seemed particularly shiny, especially Ron. He'd never actually owned a galleon in his life, even if he put all his coins together, it wouldn't amount to a galleon.

This only made him more envious.

Seamus, on the other hand, seemed clearly excited. Raising his hand as fast as lightning, he snatched the coin from Rigel's hand, saying even faster. "Deal!"

He was afraid Rigel would change his mind, so he grabbed his trunk and started heading towards Rigel's bed, only to be confused to find a monkey in it.

"Hey, is that monkey yours?" Seamus asked.

Dean, Harry, Ron, and Neville also looked on curiously, finally noticing the sleeping Jack.

"Yes, that's Jack, a pirate monkey." Rigel explained lightly, adding the last part because he knew the Gryffindors loved that kind of story.

"Pirate?" Seamus asked, shocked. The other boys' attention was piqued, even Ron pricked up his ears.

Rigel smiled, walking over to the bed, picking up Jack, and waving his wand to levitate the trunk onto the new bed. "Yes, you want to hear the story of how I got him?"

Seamus shook his head quickly, as did Dean, and even Neville and Harry nodded. Ron pursed his lips, pretending not to care, but he was clearly paying attention.

Rigel then began to narrate the story of how he got Jack, using Barbossa's own story as a basis and adapting it to this world, saying that he had faced a pirate who plundered everywhere.

Rigel was mistakenly taken aboard, and through many twists and turns, he managed to sink the pirates into the sea, but he saved Jack, who, because of this, became his friend.

The boy's eyes were already shining brightly, even Ron seemed filled with envy, he couldn't help but say, "Of course that's nonsense, how come I've never heard of that before?"

Rigel smiled, opened the trunk, and pretended to pull out various random items he had brought from the world of Pirates of the Caribbean, swords, flintlocks, hats...

The boys crowded around Rigel, and Rigel even gave a hat to each of them, even to Ron, who, despite wanting to refuse, seeing the other boys grinning from ear to ear with pirate hats on their heads, swallowed his pride and accepted the hat. He went to the mirror and imagined himself for a moment as a pirate at sea, with a monkey like Jack on his shoulder.

He broke into a happy smile.

Rigel watched from afar, a slight smile crossing his lips.

These things were actually real, and not only that, they were made of very good quality and well-crafted materials. They were the kind of items Rigel didn't need, but since he had the space, he simply piled them together.

Of course, he only took the good stuff, if they were sold in the Muggle world, each one would be worth hundreds of pounds, and that's without considering their historical value.

Rigel didn't mind, the level of closeness among the boys in the dormitory increased tremendously with this simple action. The biggest victory was the change in Ron's attitude, who looked at him with much less hostility. He didn't seem friendly, but rather a little embarrassed and grateful.

However, he only murmured a very low thank you, then went back to admiring himself in the mirror.

The children laughed excitedly for a while, but this burst of energy soon ended, doubling their previous tiredness.

Each one found their own bed and fell asleep quickly, except for Rigel, who, after seeing that everyone was asleep, looked towards the window and clearly noticed a small spider watching him from there.

Rolling his eyes, he waved his hand, using a spell that silenced the surrounding environment, another wind-based spell.

"What are you doing here?" Rigel asked curiously.

In fact, he had a feeling that Calypso wouldn't stay still, so he switched one of his phantom items for the compass, thinking he wanted to find Calypso. He quickly realized her whereabouts, a small spider on the window.

The spider quickly unfolded upon itself, growing until the figure of a smiling woman appeared.

"I wanted to see how you'd do, I've been following you since the great hall." Calypso commented, before a clearly playful look appeared on her face. "I must say you look really cute when you act like a real child."

Rigel pursed his lips, he'd spent the day trying to fit in with the Gryffindors, all for the sake of potential future achievements.

He could have simply acted like normal, been sorted into Slytherin or another house, dealt with the annoying Draco, but still acted like himself, but that would have been counterproductive.

Certain events would be much easier to deal with simply by following the protagonist rather than paying attention to every little detail and then being met with questions like "why are you here?"

No, spending a little energy in the first few days building friendships and then slowly reverting to his previous personality was much more useful, although a little annoying, Rigel could completely accept.

Of course, he can't say he disliked it, the fact is, Rigel wasn't always like this. Before Walburga, he was a normal guy, he liked having friends, laughing, and having fun. So, despite his complaints, the day was much less irritating than expected.

He was used to peace, even learned to appreciate it, and he really didn't know if he could go to a noisy party and enjoy the atmosphere without feeling suffocated, but going out with a friend to play a prank or simply laugh at something funny together...

Why not?

That being the case, Rigel was far more open to 'change' than he let on.

Calypso saw Rigel rolling his eyes at her and remaining silent. She found it amusing, but didn't bother Rigel any further. Instead, she spoke. "Alright, I've seen enough. I'm going back now. Where's my goodnight hug?"

She opened her arms, waiting for Rigel to come. Rigel rolled his eyes at her, turned around, and went to the bathroom to put on his pajamas, completely ignoring the woman.

It was Calypso's turn to roll her eyes, she sighed, her form changed, she transformed into a black owl before flapping her wings and flying away from the room.

Rigel paused for a moment, turning his head slightly to see the way she left. For a moment, he felt a little awkward, normally he wouldn't care about this, but at that moment he felt it had been a bit childish of him, it was just a hug.

Pursing his lips, he looked away, ignoring the thought, he went into the bathroom, came out shortly after, wearing pajamas, put Jack on the perch with his 'house' that Rigel had brought and went to bed soon after, only for the Adventure Book to open in front of him.

He had forgotten about it, but once he completed the fragmented conquest, Rigel was excited to discover what he had received.
