As they headed into class and settled down, their instructor came in.
" Good day students, we may now begin our class for the morning." She said starting the class immediately as everyone brought out their materials.
Avery was upset. He should have gotten news of it by now... Their engagement, and yet he's still having contact with her. Does he love her that much?
She felt a sting in her eye.
' damn it, this is class. Get away.' she thought fighting back the tears. She starred at him long and hard. She couldn't stand it... She had to talk to him. After class.
Francis felt like a strong weight was on his back, he turned back and met Avery's icy gaze. He flinched a bit. He was a bit uncomfortable.
' is she upset over the arranged marriage thing? So she doesn't want it?' he thought with a dejected laugh in his thoughts. She'd always been icy, she never smiled at him but that day...
He folded his hands into fist, she could smile at him, at her parents, but not me. And he hated that.
The class was still going on but...
Ethan looked at Aura, she felt his gaze and returned it with a smile that stunned him a bit.
He looked away his gaze hardening. He couldn't go too deep... Not yet, he needed to find out. It was the only way for them to exist.
About three and a half hour later the class with their instructor Mrs. Damien was over. They had said their goodbyes as she left.
Immediately Aura walked up to Ethan
" Hey"
" Hey ".
" So are you busy right now?" She asked
" No why?"
She breathed out a sigh of relief.
" Good, I need to speak with you." She said with a serious but cautious look. " Is that okay?"
" Uhmm...
Stephanie approached breaking the moment of.
" Ethan, we need to talk it's urgent. It's about the council."
Ethan breathed out in relief. It saved him the trouble. He wanted to tell Aura though, but he wasn't sure she was capable of keeping up without slipping. Whoever was doing this is cunny.
This morning he had received a threatening note. It was about Hansen. He didn't know if it had to do with the same person who wanted to frame him. But he wants to find out.
His gaze softened as he looked at her again.
" I'm sorry, maybe next time." He said.
" It's okay, it can wait." She said a bit cheerily. She smiled at him, she looked so happy it frightened him for what was coming. " We'll get going then."
Stephanie didn't even let her finish. Pulling Ethan out of the class, trying to reel in her jealousy.
Ethan didn't break up her hold on his arms even though it looked a bit intimate and it got a few of the girls gossiping. It was a good start to what he was about to do anyway. Saved him a bit of the trouble.
Tina approached Aura staring at the two.
" Woah, are our power couple back?" She said with a slight smile.
" Power- power couple,?" Aura said stammaring a bit as she swallowed wide eye.
" Yeah, they dated for a few months. Suddenly they broke up. Don't know what happened, but we were rooting for them.
" They're not getting together." Francis said with a frown.
" Why does that sound a bit possessive to me?" Tina said with a teasing smirk.
" I just know my friend, okay? And I know the real truth, so no." Francis said, that calmed Aura down a bit. He had knew him longer than she did anyway. Plus, she bit her lips in thought he was into her, or at least she thought he was. Her time with him was splendid.
" I believe him" Aura said backing Francis up.
Tina laughed out loud. " Oh well you're the couple here."
That made Avery break. She stood up sharply, the friction between the chair and the ground causing a sharp sound that brought all eyes on her.
She walked up to Francis, her looks icier than ever.
" We need to talk." She said.
Whispers everywhere.
" Why do a lot of people want private chats today."
" Is today the day for proper chats on the calendar or something."
Chuckles
" Are they breaking up?"
" Is she trying to get together with him?"
" Did you see the stuff with Ethan and Stephanie?"
" They look good"
" I could look better "
" Why do you girls fawn over him. Look here."
" Don't you all have better things to do?" Jeremy the class president asked, commanding respect and ordering decorum.
Aura understood. But she felt like the gaze Avery gave here on the way here was like she owed her. Francis had to hurry and make things clear. If they both were in love it would be a different story. But...
" Go." She said signaling him as he was frozen.
Avery scoffed " he doesn't need your permission." She said pulling him out and dragging him outside. They went past the cafeteria into the schools gym, it was usually empty around this time.
" What_ was_ that?" She asked furious.
Francis was stunned, this was the first time he had seen any emotion towards him other than cold in her face. She'd occasionally speak with him as a friend. But this was the first time she got this angry, and what was it about...
