Chapter 6 - Chapter 06:The social anxiety is gone, but the person is crazy

Han Fei had played many games after losing his job. He did so primarily to vent the pressure in his heart, hoping to adjust his state as soon as possible and regain the motivation for life. Now his goal had been achieved. After playing the game "perfect life," he deeply understood the beauty of life. It turned out that the unfairness he had encountered was so insignificant in the face of vengeful spirits and perverts. In a way, he had indeed been healed. It was just that this method of healing was rather crude, as if a wooden splinter had stuck into his finger and he had directly chopped off his entire arm in response.Collapsing weakly to the floor, pain and exhaustion tortured every nerve. Han Fei didn't know if he eventually fell asleep or fainted....Bang! Bang! Bang!At seven in the morning, Han Fei was woken up by the sound of knocking. He scrambled up from the floor, his mind still a bit groggy. It wasn't until he saw the game helmet on the table and the bloodstains inside it that he realized last night's game wasn't a dream."The Newbie Mission was already that difficult; the missions later on will definitely be even more terrifying. Isn't this just sending me to my death? I'm just a Comedian, I don't even know how to fight. How am I supposed to go up against a whole building of those vicious 'Neighbors'?"Bang! Bang! Bang! The knocking continued. If this had been before playing the game, Han Fei, who suffered from severe social anxiety, would most likely have pretended no one was home and waited silently for the person to leave. But after playing that game, he didn't think twice and simply walked over to open the Room Door."Hello, we are officers from the Happiness Road Police Station in the Old City District. My name is Zhao Ming, and this is my colleague Zhang Xiaotian.""Police?"Looking at the two uniformed officers at the door, Han Fei's eyes lit up. The thing in his Brain Sea called the "black box" had threatened him with brain death to keep him from calling the Police, but now the Police had come to him on their own."Please, come in!" Han Fei had never communicated with anyone so proactively. He invited the two officers inside and then ran to the fridge to find some drinks."We've come because we have some questions for you. A fire broke out within our jurisdiction, and surveillance footage showed you appearing at the scene of the fire." Seeing Han Fei's enthusiastic manner, the two officers felt it was a bit strange. Zhao Ming even took out his phone to check something, noticing that Han Fei's behavior was different from what the Police investigation files showed."Actually, I have something I want to tell you guys too." Han Fei sat down opposite the Police with the drinks."Oh?" The two policemen looked at each other, their expressions gradually becoming serious as they stared intently at Han Fei. "What do you want to tell us?""Last night, I...""Warning! Player No. 0000, please take note! Do not disclose the existence of the original version of 'perfect life' to anyone! After three warnings, the black box will explode inside your brain!"It felt as if someone had grabbed his cerebral nerves. That shuddering sensation from the depths of his brain made Han Fei open his mouth, yet he was unable to continue speaking. The two policemen looked at Han Fei's half-open mouth, and the three of them remained frozen in silence for several seconds."What happened to you last night?" The two policemen waited, unaware of the pressure Han Fei was currently enduring. Beads of sweat rolled down Han Fei's cheeks as the terrifying sensation of every brain nerve being destroyed lingered deep in his Brain Sea.Veins popped on his forehead, and Han Fei gritted his teeth. He slammed a fist onto the sofa, ultimately failing to mention the existence of the game. The two officers were startled by Han Fei's movement. "Calm down. Let's talk things through properly. Physical resistance is the most foolish thing you can do."Racking his brains, Han Fei deliberately avoided the game and tried to explain his trouble from another angle. To prevent the black box in his Brain Sea from exploding, he was very careful with every word: "Last night at midnight—pay attention to the time—an Old Woman invited me to eat dumplings. Her grandson suddenly smashed the fish soup and said the ingredients were taken from a coffin, but the ingredients actually came from the fridge. I feel like there might be a corpse hidden in their fridge.""If you're having thoughts like that, shouldn't you reflect on yourself instead?" Seeing Han Fei's serious expression, Zhao Ming quietly turned on his Body Camera, while Zhang Xiaotian inconspicuously moved one hand behind his back. "And then?""I went home and started sleeping. The Bathroom door moved on its own, and something came out of it. Do you guys believe there are ghosts in this world?""What?""Ghosts! The kind that crouches on the floor and suddenly disappears, with a face as pale as can be and a body like it has no bones! The kind that's hidden right next to the bedside lamp the moment you open your eyes!" Han Fei's emotions grew more agitated. He was terrified the Police would leave and he'd miss his chance for help, so he gestured wildly, fully displaying his solid acting skills."I even pulled out my body cam, and you're telling me about ghosts?" Zhao Ming took a deep breath, trying to keep his tone as calm as possible. "If this is all you wanted to tell us, then forget it. We're going to ask you a few questions now; please answer them truthfully.""I swear to God, everything I'm saying is the truth!" Han Fei really wasn't acting. He blinked desperately, like a hostage being held, except his captor wasn't a kidnapper but a game."First question: why were you at Antique Street in the Old City District at 1:30 PM yesterday?" Zhao Ming didn't keep circling around and asked directly."I went to buy a second-hand game. Oh, right! We can go find the shop owner! Officers! Come with me to find that owner...""What shop owner? Many of the buildings on that old street are unsafe; all the shops were closed down three months ago.""That's impossible! I've been going to that Second-hand Shop to buy games for three days straight! Let's go there now! I'll take you to the shop!" Han Fei stood up abruptly."Do you really not know, or are you playing dumb? A massive fire broke out on Antique Street yesterday afternoon, and all the Second-hand Shops were incinerated. Fortunately, the shops had long been closed, so no one was injured." Both Zhao Ming and Zhang Xiaotian found Han Fei suspicious."All the Second-hand Shops were burned down?" Han Fei stared blankly at the two officers. After a moment, his gaze became firm again. "Impossible! There's a loophole! I clearly remember the shop owner's appearance! As long as you find this person, it will prove I'm not lying!"Han Fei was a professional Actor and naturally had a very good memory. He took out paper and pen and wrote down the old shop owner's physical characteristics. "Look for him based on this! You'll definitely find him!""I can tell you with full responsibility that there couldn't have been a shop operating there..." Zhao Ming was about to say more when his phone suddenly vibrated. He told Zhang Xiaotian to keep an eye on Han Fei and stepped out of the room."Hello? Captain Wang?""Are you at the home of the suspect in the Antique Street arson case? Did you find anything?" A Middle-aged Man's voice came from the other end of the phone."We've arrived. After talking and questioning him, we found that the man is indeed a bit off." Zhao Ming glanced into the room and lowered his voice."Tell me the details.""According to the personality model built from citizen big data, he is a very introverted and hardworking Comedian. We also checked his psychological consultation records; the files say he suffers from very severe social anxiety.""A Comedian with social anxiety?""That's what the citizen information and data analysis say. However, after actual contact, we found the suspect to be highly excited, with extremely strange behavior and mannerisms. I suspect his social anxiety is cured, but...""But what?""But the person seems to have gone mad."Thanks to I Zhao Yi Xiao I, Daoist Priest Xing Yuanqing, and SooO_LaZy for the Alliance Master support!
