Chapter 5 - Chapter 05:You call this a casual healing game?

Chapter 5: You Call This a Casual healing game? The shadow that had been beside the sofa appeared at the Bedroom doorway at some unknown point. Han Fei could vaguely make out the silhouette of a person; it was crouching on the ground with its head hanging low.His body felt as if it had turned to stone. Han Fei half-knelt on the bed, his back still draped in that slightly moldy, bright red quilt."If I had known in advance that this was a combat game or a puzzle-solving game, I definitely would have prepared myself mentally. But the problem is, the Shop Owner and all the information on the internet said this was a healing game. Who the hell would know how to escape in a healing game!"He stared fixedly at the Bedroom Room Door, his brain beginning to race after a brief moment of freezing up.What had happened, had happened. It was meaningless to ponder why he couldn't exit the game now; he had to survive within the rules! To exit the game, two conditions had to be met: first, the game duration must exceed three hours; second, at least one task must be completed."I have already completed the task of installing the fuse at Grandma's house. I remember that when I entered the game and opened my eyes, the clock on the wall displayed the time as midnight. The last time I checked my watch, it was 2:44 AM. So, as long as I find a way to buy myself at most sixteen minutes, I can leave this place!"Han Fei's train of thought had never been clearer. He stared intently at the Bedroom Room Door, his muscles tensed, his five fingers gripping the Kitchen Knife tightly."I checked earlier; there was no one in the Bathroom, and nowhere for a person to hide. What exactly is this thing? Why would it open the Bathroom door in the middle of the night?"Han Fei only needed to hold out for sixteen minutes to survive, but the problem was how to hold out for those sixteen minutes? Things were currently developing in an even worse direction. He wasn't sure if the Kitchen Knife in his hand would be useful; gripping the Kitchen Knife was just a bodily instinct seeking a sliver of psychological comfort.Lying in bed asleep in the dead of night, opening your eyes to see someone crouching beside the Living Room sofa, and then blinking to find that person had run to the Bedroom doorway—just thinking about this scenario made his scalp tingle.Calm down! Must stay calm! The inability to exit the game brought a tremendous shock to Han Fei. Before he could recover, he was baptized by sudden fear. That he, an ordinary office worker, hadn't collapsed under such repeated blows felt somewhat unbelievable even to Han Fei himself."The old woman said that this house had an incident and wasn't safe; she likely meant that person crouching on the ground. The other residents in the building haven't moved out, which suggests this guy rarely leaves the room. As long as I escape, I should be safe for the time being."Easier said than done. Han Fei looked at the blurry silhouette crouching at the Bedroom doorway and didn't have the courage to approach it at all."No! The current situation hasn't reached the point of utter despair! It's blocking the Room Door and not coming over, so I can just stall for time. If I hold out for sixteen minutes, I'll exit the game immediately. If it moves further inside, then I'll run out of the Bedroom directly!"It was an emergency; his life was on the line, so why would Han Fei care about any Newbie Mission? His gaze slowly moved, scanning toward the electronic wall clock in the Living Room, but before he could see clearly what time it was, an bone-chilling cold surged into his heart! His pupils constricted. Han Fei looked toward the Bedroom Room Door again, and the person who had been crouching on the ground had disappeared. And at this moment, Han Fei made the most correct decision: he didn't stupidly turn on the lights, didn't retreat, nor did he look left and right to search for the other party; instead, he jumped off the bed and sprinted toward the Living Room Room Door!He knew that guy had entered the Bedroom; staying here for even one more second was courting death. Rather than harboring any luck or curiosity about what that thing actually was, it was better to leave immediately.Racing against time, without stopping for a moment, Han Fei felt he had never run this fast in his entire life.He rushed toward the anti-theft door and opened it with the fastest speed possible. The sound of the door opening and closing caused the voice-activated light in the corridor to turn on. Dim, yellowish light shone into the room, but Han Fei didn't dare to look back; he only swept a glance into the room with his peripheral vision the moment he went downstairs. In the dilapidated and desolate room, there was a person with limbs twisted at a bizarre angle, lying under the Bedroom lamp stand. If Han Fei had turned on the light just now, he might have seen that person's pale, sinister face!He slammed the Room Door shut, terrified that the other party might chase him out. Not long after, he heard a chilling sound coming from inside the room, as if someone were desperately scratching at the door panel with their fingernails."That thing wants to come out?"Not daring to linger, Han Fei ran downstairs holding the Kitchen Knife. He knew the old woman downstairs also had issues, but compared to the unknown thing, the threat the old woman posed to him was relatively smaller.Han Fei arrived at the Third Floor, only to smell that familiar meaty fragrance again. He discovered that the old woman's Room Door was half-open, and several black bags were thrown at the doorway; these bags were different from the ones he had seen in the refrigerator earlier.Stepping back a few paces, his body bumped into the Room Door of another household on the Third Floor. A cracked Bagua mirror fell from the top of the door, almost hitting him.Turning his head to look, Han Fei discovered that the door panel of this household was densely covered with Talisman Paper, which looked very terrifying."Is there not a single normal person in this building?"Receiving one shock after another, Han Fei's nerves were strained. Just then, all the voice-activated lights in the corridor went out. No matter how much noise he made, the lights seemed to be broken and never turned on again. In the dead silence, Han Fei clearly heard the sound of a Room Door being slowly pushed open. Something in the darkness was approaching. His heartbeat grew faster and faster. Han Fei ran downstairs for his life; he could feel that something was chasing him in the darkness.Gritting his teeth, Han Fei rushed to the First Floor in one breath. Only then did he discover that the corridor door was locked, and he was completely unable to leave this building.Waving his arm, Han Fei hacked at the door lock with the Kitchen Knife until the darkness engulfed him; something seemed to have appeared behind him.His neck was slowly being tightened. On the surface, Han Fei seemed to have gone mad, repeating the action of hacking at the door lock, but in reality, all his attention was focused on the attribute panel.A chill soaked through his body; Han Fei could no longer hold the Kitchen Knife. Just as he was about to lose consciousness, that gray exit button finally lit up.The three-hour time limit had arrived!"Exit!"Bang!A loud noise erupted in his Brain Sea. The world kept spinning, and an intense pain radiated from the depths of his brain.Enduring the pain, the moment Han Fei regained control of his body, he used both hands to forcefully take off the game helmet and threw it heavily onto the table.Night had fallen; the projection screen on the wall showed that it was now 3:01 AM.Han Fei had entered the game during the day, but when he returned to reality, it was already the dead of night.Exhaustion surged from every part of his body. Even now, Han Fei had a surreal feeling, as if he still hadn't escaped from the game."Player No. 0000, please pay attention! You have completed your first game in the first edition of perfect life. Please accelerate your exploration progress!"A cold, mechanical synthesized voice rang out from the depths of his Brain Sea. After hearing this voice, Han Fei stood rooted to the spot, stunned. He was certain he had taken off the game helmet; that voice had appeared directly inside his head."How is that possible?""Player No. 0000, please pay attention! You have completed your first game. Please start your second game within 24 hours!""Why is this voice in my head?" Han Fei touched the back of his head, which throbbed with constant pain, and picked up that heavy game helmet again. Only then did he see that the inside of the helmet was covered in blood.Recalling carefully, Han Fei vaguely remembered that after he put on the helmet, it seemed like something had pierced into his head."This counts as attempted murder, right?" Han Fei took out his phone, preparing to call the police, but when the thought of calling the police crossed his mind, the voice in his Brain Sea came again."Player No. 0000, please pay attention! Do not disclose the game content to anyone, otherwise the black box will explode inside your brain, ensuring you are brain dead within 0.001 seconds.""black box? Brain dead?" Han Fei looked at the 'casual healing' type label posted on the helmet, and for a moment, he felt his head ache even more.
