Chapter 18 - Anima

You, you want my protection and to become my servants?"

Kalon, who was squatting on the ground with one foot gently pressing on the feigning Aurumvorax, roared loudly, spreading his wide wings to display the intimidation of a True Dragon, while coldly looking down at a group of yapping Kobold below.

Most of these Kobold were around ninety centimeters tall, with slender bodies, lizard-like physiques, and reddish-brown skin. Their heads resembled crocodiles in the water. These Kobold were dressed in rags, some even having only a single cloth hanging between their legs.

These Kobold were more like lizardmen, lizardmen with thin dragon blood. Only the constant barking sounds from their mouths were more fitting for the identity of a Kobold.

The problem was that the barking was in Dragon Language, but to Kalon's ears, it sounded like an Indian-accented English.

He needed a certain level of reading comprehension and listening skills to understand what these Kobold were trying to express from their action-rich language.

"Y-yes!" Several exceptionally strong Kobold stepped forward and knelt before Kalon. The Kobold Leader at the very front excitedly crawled forward and embraced Kalon's long, sharp Dragon Claw.

Increasingly fervent barks rang in Kalon's ears: "Noble and great True Dragon, your humble admirers have always been searching for your Tracks!"

"Your scales, more beautiful than moonlight, will harden our skin; your bones, stronger than armor, will support our skulls. The great Dragon Heart will ignite our magic. We are the Dragon's servants, we live for the Dragon, and serving you is our only desire."

The Kobold, still huddled together, followed their leader and knelt down, echoing the Kobold Leader's words and praising the cold-eyed Red Dragon.

Although he found the flattery a bit awkward and noisy, Kalon still enjoyed listening to the Kobold's words.

No wonder many True Dragon liked to take in weak races like the Kobold as their dependents. Just based on this flattery, Kalon felt that these Kobold could occupy a place under him.

Moreover, although Kobold were very weak in combat, this race still had its merits.

Kobold were combative and industrious, skilled at making traps and mining, and also greatly valued the growth of their Kobold tribe. Therefore, Kobold would be very obedient to the will of their rulers, especially when their ruler was a True Dragon.

Kalon raised his claw, and the huge Dragon Claw completely enveloped the Kobold Leader's head. He pressed lightly, indicating his approval.

"I permit your submission. You shall receive my protection and may move freely and hunt within the my Dragon territory. You shall offer me everything."

"Thank you, great True Dragon! You will forever be our master!" The Kobold Leader excitedly kissed Kalon's claw,

completely disregarding that the True Dragon before him could easily crush his head. The Kobold behind him also cheered.

With the protection of a True Dragon, they would no longer have to live only in dark underground caves. They would also be able to live freely under the sun, have ample food, and their tribe would quickly grow stronger.

Kalon did not pay attention to these things. His consciousness was drawn by the fluctuation of the runes in his mind.

Traces of imperceptible power intermittently connected the strange runes in the True Dragon's mind with the Kobold kneeling at his feet.

This was not the so-called power of faith, Kalon's inheritance told him, but this power was similar to the thoughts of intelligent beings.

The cluster of runes hidden in the vortex could clearly use the power of intelligent beings' thoughts as food, exhaling pure energy that floated and circulated around the runes, slowly strengthening the power of the vortex.

Most importantly, this extraction of thought power was not a one-time event, but continuous.

A strange smile bloomed on Kalon's Red Dragon face. He felt that he was one step closer to mastering this power.

Although still far from fully understanding it, at least now he roughly knew how to use it.

If he worked hard enough, perhaps when he entered the next stage of sleep, that vortex could accumulate enough energy, and he would also be further strengthened.

The standing Kobold Warlock saw the True Dragon's undisguised smile and, emboldened, requested of Kalon: "Great master, majestic True Dragon, could you bestow upon us the Aurumvorax at your feet? We can use this beast to serve you better."

The Red Dragon was silent. Originally, he had no way to tame the Aurumvorax. Giving this beast to the Kobold to explore mineral deposits for them was also a good choice, as it would still be working for him.

But he wanted these Kobold to understand one thing: both grace and might came from him, not influenced by anyone else.

He suddenly opened his mouth and roared loudly: "You actually dare to covet a True Dragon's possession, ha, how interesting and bold." A scorching and condensed Dragon Breath, accompanied by the Dragon Language, spewed out, incinerating the Kobold Warlock who had made the request to the True Dragon.

The inextinguishable Dragon Breath burned fiercely on the Kobold, who rolled and wailed in the flames. The remaining Kobold frantically knelt down amidst its wails, begging for the True Dragon's forgiveness.

The Kobold Leader and the remaining Kobold Warlock prostrated themselves on the ground like pounding garlic, not even daring to utter a single bark.

"If you want me to spare you, then please me. Go back and open your tribe's treasury, offer all your treasures to me. I will come with the Dragon, waiting for your offerings."

The evil Red Dragon made up his mind, grabbed the Aurumvorax, which was playing dead and motionless at his feet, flapped his wings, and flew away, gradually disappearing, leaving the Kobold tribe still kneeling below.

Originally, after hearing the Blue Dragon Leader Carlit's words, Kalon had planned to temporarily maintain the current territory of the Dragon, as the Dragon's strength was not yet strong enough.

In these past few years, the Dragon's steadily expanding territory, centered around the mountains, was roughly one hundred and fifty miles in radius. The forest area was only half the size of the grassland area.

Perhaps some might think that the land occupied by the Dragon was a bit small, but taking Kyoto from Kalon's previous life as an example, including the suburbs, Kyoto was one hundred and sixty kilometers long from east to west and one hundred and seventy-six kilometers long from north to south.

That is to say, the land currently occupied by the Dragon was about half the size of Kyoto, and the entire country, converted, was only about three thousand five hundred miles in radius.

In fact, the current territory was completely sufficient to support the Young Dragon, Akzi, and Carlit, and those who were still in their infancy.

But Kalon, having a new direction, decided to change his strategy. The Dragon would gradually sweep away all intelligent creatures within their territory in the coming time.

Then, when the Dragon passed through the next period of sleep and his strength grew again, he would lead the Dragon on a journey of conquest.

But currently, the most important thing was for Kalon to become the de facto leader of the Dragon, and no longer just the nominal obedience of these Young Dragon and the strongest playmate in their eyes. He also needed to start setting some rules for the future development of the Dragon while everything was still unformed.

Powerful wings stirred up a strong wind. Kalon, who had made a slightly crazy decision in his heart, whistled over the grassland. He now had to return to the Dragon Nest and summon the Young Dragon patrolling outside.

···

A loud, powerful, and long Dragon Roar reverberated throughout the entire canyon Dragon Nest. Layers of echoes, accompanied by the Dragon Language, spread from the Dragon Nest. The Red Dragon, with wings spread and chest puffed out, roared with all his might, standing on the mountaintop. This was his call to the Dragon, and the leader's summons to the Young Dragon. He stopped, waiting for the Young Dragon's response.

Black Dragon Rosani, who was fishing in the river not far from the forest, was the first to hear Kalon's call. Rosani swallowed the crucian carp he was playing with in his claw, emerged from the water, then flapped his wings and roared, flying into the sky.

Antagena and the White Dragon brothers, who were secretly eating in the orchard, also responded and flew towards the Dragon Nest. Then came Blue Dragon Dos, Red Dragon Kleinaya. These Young Dragon were all rushing to the Dragon Nest.

Akzi, by rights, could have ignored Kalon's summons. He was the elder Dragon of the family, his status and authority only above Kalon's. But out of curiosity, he still rushed to the Dragon Nest.

When he landed on the cliff top of the Dragon Nest, he found that all the Dragon were present except for Carlit.

The scrawny little cubs, who were once in his eyes, had grown up. Their average four to five-meter-long bodies were beginning to display the power of a True Dragon, forming the prototype of a powerful Dragon family.

Moreover, the cohesion of the family far surpassed that of other Dragon, and the future leader of the family would also far surpass other Dragon.

Before the curious Akzi could ask, the strong Young Dragon Leader Kalon had already spoken first, smiling: "Next is the Dragon's hunting time, Lord Akzi, you should come along too."

Akzi looked at Kalon suspiciously, then at the motionless volcanic cave, and then nodded, "Alright!"
