Chapter 25 - Ticking Clock

Her thoughts were blank, as after all, she had accidentally just massacred the entire Snow Lotus faction.

What that entailed in the greater picture... she didn't exactly care that much. She wasn't a saint, so she had already shown enough mercy by not killing everyone there.

Though I guess our title of Twin Demons is going to be even more notorious after this incident, Yuelan thought with a sigh.

Even so, it didn't take long to arrive at the lake as she quickly washed up, then Swift Stepped along the waterfall.

She climbed through the hole into the cave where Xuan was. Aside from the shrine that had rusted slightly more, everything else was the same.

"Heya, I'm back," Yuelan announced, and he didn't reply. Obviously, Xuan was still cultivating.

It was almost like the space around him was twisting, sending endless Qi his way.

She was proud that he was getting stronger this fast, so she walked closer to him, prepared to prank him by cutting all his hair with her sword.

But when she reached him, a surprising pop-up appeared.

"Huh...?" Yuelan tilted her head in surprise.

Even more bonuses? And I get them if I cultivate beside Xuan?

A wide smirk appeared on her face as she sat down, her back mere inches away from his. And then, she activated her Qi gathering technique.

<+250 Qi | 5,292,300 / 25,600,000>

<+250 Qi | 5,292,550 / 25,600,000>

<+250 Qi | 5,292,800 / 25,600,000>

Yuelan's eyes widened at the increase.

Not only was she getting 10 times more Qi than usual, she was also getting it every 0.8 seconds instead of every 1 second.

So with such extreme upgrades in mind, Yuelan glanced at Xuan's back one final time and began cultivating alongside him.

[Xuan's POV]

Xuan slowly opened his eyes, feeling groggy. Yet he was immediately met with a fully rusted shrine, as well as Yuelan, who was leaning against his back, her Qi swirling harmoniously.

And that was when he spotted a pop-up that made his brow rise.

Hah? I thought we cultivated pretty close in the cave... Definitely not 1 meter close though, Xuan thought, clicking his tongue.

He was about to stand up, but first, he wanted to check his progress after cultivating for god knew how long.

Name: Xiao Xuan

Cultivation: Fifth → Sixth Level Spirit Warrior

(Qi: 720,799,750 / 819,200,000)

Legacy: None

Bloodline: None

Physique: Boundless Void Physique

Physical Strength: 16,700 → 28,200

Mental Strength: 11,800 → 23,480

Physical Defense: 31,670 → 36,670

Mental Defense: 11,700 → 16,700

Since he had Void Qi in abundance because of Linhua's help, a single million was nothing to Xuan. But a question did arise...

I have more Void Qi than normal Qi... Maybe it's somehow possible to link my cultivation to Void Qi?

Sure, Void Qi was directly linked to his physique, but he couldn't see why this wouldn't be possible.

Obviously, all his Qi gathered in his Dantian, but no matter how much he looked, he couldn't pinpoint a way to connect the two Qi's. So after a few minutes of duds, he gave up.

I'll have to observe how my Qi acts when I break through into the next realm, the Spirit Master realm.

With those final thoughts, Xuan stood up, causing Yuelan to fall backward, interrupting her cultivation as she banged her head on the moss.

"Ow... big brother, do you mind being more gentle next time?" Yuelan pouted, rubbing her head.

"You'll recover." Xuan chuckled, then glanced at the shrine.

It was completely rusted now, and it seemed like with a single touch, it would all fall apart.

So as a final show of respect, Xuan kneeled in front of the shrine and paid tribute to Linhua's ancestors.

Noticing this, Yuelan joined in, and after a few minutes, the two of them backed off.

Xuan hummed in satisfaction when all of a sudden, his stomach rumbled.

"...Did you save some food for me? I'm pretty hungry."

"Food?" Yuelan mumbled, then facepalmed. "Oh... about that..."

She recounted the events that had happened shortly after he entered cultivation, and it was safe to say, Xuan was speechless.

"Hey, they attacked me first," Yuelan defended herself.

Since he knew how annoying she was to argue with, he simply put it to the back of his mind. It wasn't like arguing would really solve anything. After all, the people were already dead.

As he was about to at least give her a tap on the head, he heard a bell chime inside his mind, followed by a single pop-up appearing.

"Uhh..." Xuan stared at the message, unsure if he was seeing right.

But since Yuelan's mouth was also wide open, it was clear he wasn't hallucinating.

Without hesitation, the two swiftly ran out of the cave, and as they left the narrow tunnel, they jumped through the waterfall, falling down.

As Xuan was about to hit the water, he activated Void Step, teleporting to the edge of the lake.

But unlike him, Yuelan flopped into the water, then nonchalantly swam over to him.

Despite how much he could tease her right now, it wasn't the time.

After all...
