Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: I'm Clever as Hell.

She watched helplessly as Mono laboriously pulled up weeds from the ground, then wove them into a crude "grass suit" and draped it over her.

Clap clap~

Mono lightly brushed the dirt off his hands. Looking at Little Six, who was now covered in weeds, he smiled:

"Not bad, not bad. Hey, with this outfit, that blind man definitely won't be able to tell."

"Just wear this and slowly shuffle toward the cave entrance later. That hunter definitely won't find you."

Little Six understood Mono's plan and looked down at herself.

She was now covered in weeds; from a distance, it really would be hard to tell there was a person inside.

Little Six looked up:

"What about you?"

"I have to keep an eye on the hunter for you. If something's wrong, I'll throw a stone to distract him. Once you're across, I'll go," Mono explained.

Hearing this, Little Six nodded.

Mono pulled her to the edge of the grass again.

"Remember, be quiet. Don't slip up."

Little Six remained silent.

"Hey, did you hear me? Give me some kind of reaction, okay?" Mono said helplessly.

Sure enough, Six was a species truly difficult to communicate with.

Little Six finally nodded, but still didn't say a word.

Mono didn't plan on arguing further.

He watched the hunter's movements. When the hunter turned the searchlight to the other side, he finally gave a gentle push:

"Now's the time. Go."

Little Six wasn't stupid; she quickly took small steps and shuffled toward the tree hollow ahead.

The hunter's searchlight swung back.

Little Six immediately stopped moving.

The light finally stopped on the pile of weeds she was disguised as.

Mono's heart tightened. Had they failed?

Although he had just planned to use Little Six as a guinea pig to test if this trick worked, it didn't mean he wanted such a capable helper to die here.

Six's ability was now definitely more than twice as strong as his.

If she died here, even if he ran to the Wooden Cabin on the east side of the forest and saw the gun, he wouldn't be able to pick it up.

And if he couldn't pick up the gun, he naturally couldn't shoot the hunter.

Then he wouldn't be able to get progress points and skills.

In that case, his strength would remain in its current semi-crippled state, and he would only be able to continue surviving in this terrifying world with his heart in his throat.

So, if Six died now, it would definitely not be a good thing for him.

Click!

The sound of a bullet being chambered rang out.

Mono's heart skipped a beat.

He couldn't wait any longer.

Mono suddenly shouted:

"Hey!"

The hunter's attention was immediately drawn away.

He turned the searchlight directly toward the source of the noise.

Then, a loud BANG! followed immediately.

Looking at the grass behind him that had been blasted apart, cold sweat broke out on Mono's back again.

Fortunately, right after he shouted, he had quickly lowered his head and run away. Otherwise, he would definitely be dead meat by now.

The sound of the hunter's footsteps approached. Mono quickly and cautiously crawled in the direction away from the tree hollow.

Little Six, disguised as a patch of grass, was also very nervous when the light shone on her.

Finally, seeing that Mono really did as he said and shouted to distract the hunter, she didn't dare delay and took the opportunity to run to the tree hollow.

She hid at the entrance of the hollow, watching helplessly as the hunter constantly swept the searchlight around, searching everywhere.

The hunter seemed unable to find them and became somewhat frantic.

He trampled down quite a lot of the grass.

He seemed intent on forcing Mono out this way.

Mono also noticed the hunter's movements.

It had to be said that the hunter before him was much smarter than the one in the game.

Mono wanted to cry but had no tears.

Just as he was in a bind, Mono suddenly sensed some movement behind him.

Startled, he quickly turned his head.

He saw a fat-headed rat constantly sniffing its nose, walking toward him.

"Haha, even the heavens are on my side."

Delighted, Mono ignored everything else, picked up a stone, aimed, and threw it hard at the rat.

The fat rat was suddenly hit by the stone; startled, it let out a sharp "squeak."

Then, using all its limbs, it wiggled its large rear, flicked its long tail, and prepared to flee.

This commotion instantly attracted the hunter, who was busy rummaging through the grass.

"Gurgle~"

A low gurgle, like a worn-out steam engine, rumbled from his throat.

He then repeatedly raised his gun and fired at the spot where the rat had scurried.

He ran over while firing.

Mono pressed himself tightly against the ground, chanting Amitabha and Jesus God in his heart.

A gust of wind swept over his head; Mono took a peek.

He saw a massive figure stepping over him, chasing after the rat.

Mono had no time for joy or continued prayer; he hurriedly crawled toward the tree hollow.

On the other side, Six, who had been watching everything from the edge of the tree hollow, was somewhat stunned.

Had he... been discovered?

Seeing the hunter's frantic pouncing, Six really wanted to do something.

But in the end, she... did nothing.
