Chapter 47 - Show Off

Around one o'clock in the afternoon, students from finance class four gradually headed to the sports field to prepare for physical education class.

Steve held up a hand to block the scorching sun, but it offered almost no relief.

"It's almost October, why is it still so hot?"

Ethan looked over at him and said, "Didn't you put on a ton of sunscreen before coming out? I didn't even bother."

"I'm not like you. I'm afraid of getting as dark as Johnson."

This comment instantly displeased several people around them, "What do you mean? This is a healthy complexion. Not like you and Andrew, looking like pale bookworms."

Steve didn't care when others said that, but Tony was the last person qualified to say anything.

"You Dog bastard, you were asking me online a few days ago how to get fairer. What are you talking about now?"

"I've changed my mind now. Diana said she likes a bronze complexion now, a more mature image."

As the group walked near the sports field, they happened to run into Diana and her group, who were clustered around the so-called 'Campus Heartthrob,' Dicky.

"Senior, I didn't expect you to be not only handsome but also on our school's basketball team."

Diana stood beside Dicky, openly expressing her admiration for him.

"It's alright, it's alright. Playing basketball is just one of my hobbies. I didn't expect to make the school team just by messing around casually."

Dicky held a basketball in one hand, feigning modesty, but every word he spoke dripped with superiority.

This guy always loved seeking attention, and ever since becoming the so-called Campus Heartthrob on Luna website, he flaunted it everywhere, terrified that people wouldn't know he was a second-generation rich kid.

"Senior, those sneakers you're wearing must be expensive, they look really nice," Olivia suddenly spoke up.

Dicky heard this, gave a faint smile, lifted his foot slightly, and said casually, "Nike's latest collaborative sneakers. If they weren't expensive, they'd be around four or five hundred dollars. I just had to spend a little less on my living expenses this month to buy them."

"Shoes that cost four or five hundred dollars? That expensive, and you bought them with your living expenses?" Diana let out a gasp.

Dicky laughed and waved his hand upon hearing this, "This isn't considered expensive. I have several more pairs at home."

"You casually buy sneakers that are expensive? Then your family must be quite well-off, right, Senior?"

"So-so. The family just runs a small business."

The surrounding people could also hear this conversation. Steve looked at Tony with disdain, "Why do I feel like what Diana likes isn't a bronze complexion, but Dicky himself?"

"Impossible! And where is this Dog bastard handsome? He is a shameless thing."

As soon as he spoke, the others nodded in agreement.

"This guy deliberately lifted his foot to show off when talking about sneakers. If that's not showing off, what is? Aren't shoes just for wearing? People buy shoes costing several thousand just to show off?"

Stark was very practical; for daily necessities, as long as they worked, they were fine. Therefore, he strongly disapproved of this kind of behavior.

Steve, who also enjoyed basketball, despised show-offs like Dicky, "'Just casually messing around' to get onto the basketball team? I never saw this guy in any of the school team's games. He's probably just a useless benchwarmer."

"Speaking of which, where is he handsome? His skin is dark and greasy. He's the Campus Heartthrob? I think the taste of our school's girls is truly poor," Bruce looked contemptuously at Dicky not far away.

"It's probably because he's rich. He often wears designer brands and constantly posts photos of where he travels on his social media. I saw him chatting with someone on Luna's website yesterday about where he's going for the National Day holiday."

Johnson, who was highly engaged in surfing the internet, knew more details. After speaking, he sighed, "It's good that Andy is here. What's there to show off about a pair of crappy sneakers? This website is Andy's, too."

"Damn it, if Andy were here, he'd directly shut down this stinking idiot."

Although these guys often tore each other down at other times, they all agreed on the sharpness of Andrew's tongue. Now they especially wished Andrew would appear to deflate Dicky's arrogance.

The group walked closer to the sports field. The teaching buildings no longer blocked the sunlight, and it felt even hotter under the direct sun.

The number of girls gathered around Dicky also decreased.

Diana, who had a somewhat volatile temper, couldn't help but complain, "This weather is too hot, and we still have to come out for PE class. Aren't they afraid of being baked to death?"

Seeing this situation, Dicky wiped the sweat from his forehead and said, "Yeah, I'm also planning to buy a car for commuting. It'll be more convenient when going out."

Upon hearing this, Diana's eyes widened: "Senior, you're that capable? You're still a student and you're already planning to buy a car."

Lucy, standing behind the crowd, had been listening for a long time and finally couldn't help but mutter quietly, "If you're buying a car, buy one. Is there a need to show it off?"

Olivia, standing nearby, replied softly, "I don't think it's a big deal. Showing off wealth is also a form of capital."

"Olive, it's not that I'm saying anything, but where exactly is Dicky handsome? You don't actually like him, do you? I think Andrew is much more handsome than him."

The first time Lucy saw Dicky, she felt the same way as Scarlett, that this guy was just a greasy man.

Now, she had an additional negative impression, he loved to flaunt things. "He really isn't that good-looking, but he has money. Unlike that Andrew guy who only acts self-important."

"Forget it, as long as you're happy."

Lucy had nothing more to say, but she had absolutely no favorable impression of Dicky.

"Senior, what kind of car are you planning to buy?"

"The Senior will definitely choose a luxury car. He wouldn't look at ordinary cars, at least something branded like an Audi."

Several girls surrounded Dicky, discussing.

Perhaps afraid of blowing his boasting too far, Dicky reined in his show-off demeanor, clenched his right fist, brought it to his mouth, and coughed lightly.

"Things like cars are just for commuting; there's no need to buy overly expensive ones. For people whose families are in business like ours, money must be spent where it counts."

"That's true. But since the senior is still a student and can afford a car, that's already very impressive."

Ethan and the others listening could barely restrain themselves from cursing.

Just moments ago, he was talking about having several pairs of shoes worth thousands, and now he's saying money must be spent where it counts. Was he trying to attack his own logic? Just say you can't afford it.

Just then, a white Audi drove in from the direction of the school gate and stopped steadily at the edge of the sports field.

What drew the most attention was the license plate number, it was a limited edition rare design and number. The value of this license plate alone was more expensive than many cars.

Dicky, who had been showing off incessantly, also quieted down considerably. He guessed this was probably some teacher's car and figured he could resume his posturing after the teacher left.

"That car looks so familiar?"

Ethan was wondering when he heard the engine shut off and the door of the white audi being opened.

Under the shocked gaze of everyone, Andrew held the car door open with one hand and held the four-ringed Audi key in the other, walking out of the car relaxed and at ease.

"It's really hot," Andrew complained, then pushed the door shut casually with his left hand, holding the car key in his right hand to block the glaring sun.

His gaze swept over and he noticed many pairs of eyes fixed on him.

The surroundings fell silent. Olivia and the others seemed petrified, not moving at all.

They even began to doubt if they were dreaming.
