The truth had surfaced.
But the tension hadn't disappeared.
If anything, it had only changed its shape.
By the next morning, the school buzzed with a new wave of gossip. Students crowded around their phones, whispering excitedly as they read the latest updates on the school forum.
"Takeda edited the photo?"
"I can't believe it."
"He's finished."
As I stepped into the classroom, the atmosphere felt heavier than ever. Some students looked at me with sympathy. Others avoided my gaze entirely.
Reputations weren't easily repaired.
And Takeda Ren's had just been shattered.
"Good morning."
I turned to see Aizawa Reina standing beside my desk, her gentle smile easing the tension in my chest.
"Morning," I replied.
"It seems the truth has come out," she said softly.
"Yeah… but I doubt this is over."
She nodded. "Neither do I."
Just then, the classroom door slammed open.
Bang!
Every head turned.
Takeda Ren stood at the entrance, his expression dark and unreadable. The usual confidence in his posture was gone, replaced by simmering anger.
"Oi," he said coldly, locking eyes with me. "You. Come outside."
The room fell silent.
A murmur rippled through the class.
"This is bad…"
"Is he going to fight him?"
Reina's brows furrowed. "You don't have to go."
I exhaled slowly. "If I don't, the rumors will never end."
She hesitated before nodding. "Then I'll be right behind you."
I gave a small, reassuring smile and followed Takeda into the corridor.
The Confrontation
A crowd quickly gathered, drawn by curiosity.
Takeda stopped near the windows, his fists clenched.
"You think you've won?" he spat. "You humiliated me."
"I didn't expose you," I replied calmly. "You did that yourself."
His jaw tightened. "You stole her from me."
"I didn't steal anyone. Reina chooses who she spends time with."
The words slipped out before I could stop them.
A ripple of shock spread through the onlookers.
Takeda's eyes burned with fury.
"You've got some nerve for a nobody."
"And you've got none for someone who hides behind lies," I said quietly.
Gasps echoed in the hallway.
For a moment, Takeda looked ready to throw a punch.
But before he could move—
"Enough."
A cold, commanding voice cut through the tension like a blade.
Kurosaki Yuna stepped forward, her presence instantly silencing the crowd.
Her sharp gaze swept across the corridor before settling on Takeda.
"This is beneath you," she said coldly. "Have you fallen so far?"
Takeda froze. "Kurosaki… I did it for you."
A hush fell over the crowd.
"For me?" Yuna repeated, her expression unreadable.
"You deserve someone worthy," he insisted. "Not a loser like him."
Her eyes hardened.
"You misunderstand," she replied.
Takeda's face lit with hope. "Then you—"
"I never asked for your devotion," she interrupted. "And I certainly never asked you to ruin someone's reputation."
Her words struck like lightning.
The color drained from his face.
"You… don't care?" he whispered.
Yuna's voice was calm and merciless.
"Not in the slightest."
The crowd erupted into whispers.
Takeda's shoulders slumped, defeat etched across his face. Without another word, he pushed past the onlookers and disappeared down the hallway.
Silence followed his departure.
An Unexpected Truth
As the crowd began to disperse, Reina approached, relief evident in her eyes.
"It's over," she said softly.
"For now," I replied.
Yuna turned toward me, her gaze piercing.
"You handled yourself well," she said. "Better than I expected."
"…Thank you," I replied cautiously.
Her expression softened—just barely.
"Strength isn't about power," she said. "It's about resolve. Remember that."
For a brief moment, something flickered behind her cold exterior.
Loneliness.
Before I could speak, she turned and walked away.
"…She's not as heartless as she seems," I murmured.
Reina nodded. "No. Kurosaki-san carries burdens of her own."
"Do you know what they are?"
Reina hesitated.
"…Only rumors," she said quietly. "But they say she trusts no one."
I watched Yuna's retreating figure.
For the first time, I wondered what kind of past could make someone so untouchable.
After School*
As the day ended, a sense of calm returned—fragile, but real.
Reina and I walked toward the school gates together, the golden hues of sunset painting the sky.
"You were brave today," she said gently.
"I was terrified," I admitted.
She giggled softly. "Even so, you didn't run away."
Her words warmed my heart.
We stopped at the intersection where our paths diverged.
"Thank you," I said. "For believing in me."
She smiled—a radiant, sincere smile.
"Always."
As she turned to leave, she paused.
"Oh, and… would you like to have lunch together again tomorrow?"
My pulse quickened.
"I'd like that."
Her cheeks flushed faintly before she waved goodbye and walked away.
I stood there for a moment, watching her disappear into the evening light.
And for the first time since this chaos began—
I felt hopeful.
Yet deep in my heart, I knew…
The real story was only just beginning.
