Well didn't think that on his third day at work, everything could be even stranger than the previous two days.
Since this morning, he felt something had changed.
Not in the office or workplace but in Vivian.
He sat at his desk staring at the computer screen, but this time it wasn't because he wasn't focused. On the contrary, he was all too aware of someone's presence and change.
Vivian.
Since their conversation yesterday, Vivian had no longer been completely cold. She was still firm, professional but there was something different. The way she spoke and the way she looked at everything felt a little soft.
And that made him even more uncomfortable.
"Mr. Well?"
Well was a little surprised. He raised his head and saw a woman standing next to his desk.
He had never seen the woman before.
"Yes?"
The woman smiled. "I'm Alya from marketing. I'd like to talk a little about the project you're handling."
"Oh, yes. Please."
Alya sat down in the chair next to him, opened a file and began to explain something enthusiastically. Well tried to focus, occasionally nodding and asking questions but without him realizing there were a pair of eyes watching from afar.
In the glass office at the end of the room, Vivian stood holding a coffee cup. Her gaze was straight at Well but even more so at the woman next to Well.
She was silent but the way she slowly pursed her lips was enough to show something she herself didn't want to admit.
She was his wife and he must be jealous.
Vivian quickly looked away, as if she didn't want to admit that feeling. She put the coffee cup on the table and tried to focus on her work.
However, a few seconds later her eyes returned to the same direction, Well.
And the woman was still there.
They laughed softly as they chatted casually.
Vivian sighed softly.
"Why do I care?" she whispered to herself. No answer.
Because deep down she already knew the answer.
A few minutes later, the intercom on Well's desk rang.
Well picked up the phone.
"Yes?"
"Come into my room now."
Vivian's voice was short but firm. "Okay," Well said.
"Sorry, I have to go first. We'll continue later."
Alya nodded. "It's okay."
Well got up and walked towards Vivian's office. This time his steps were faster not because he was afraid, but because his mind was full of questions.
He knocked on the door.
"Come in."
Well stepped in and closed the door slowly while looking at Vivian.
Vivian stood behind her desk, her arms crossed and her face hard to read.
"What were you talking about with her earlier?"
The question came out without warning.
Well was silent for a moment. "Who?"
"That woman earlier."
Vivian's tone was still calm, but there was something hidden in it.
Well almost smiled.
"Oh… it's Alya. She's from the marketing department. She's talking about a project I'm handling."
Vivian just remained silent.
A few moments passed before she spoke again.
"You look so close."
Well fell silent.
"Huh?"
Vivian turned her face slightly in jealousy. "He's sitting so close to you."
And at that moment, Well really couldn't help but smile a little.
"Are you… jealous?"
Vivian continued to look at him sharply.
"Don't be an idiot."
Well laughed softly. "I was just asking."
Vivian let out a long breath, as if trying to control something inside her.
"This is the office so keep your distance."
The sentence sounded like an order but also like something else.
Well nodded slowly.
"Okay dear… eh boss."
Vivian looked at him and for a moment there was something like a smile that she tried to hide.
"Go and continue working."
"Okay…"
Well's steps stopped.
Vivian looked at him, this time with a softer look.
"Don't skip lunch."
The sentence was simple but like a love sentence.
But it was enough to make Well's chest feel warm and pounding.
She nodded slightly.
"Okay… honey."
Vivian fell silent.
Her cheeks turned red again, even though she tried to hide it by turning away.
"Get out."
This time her voice was no longer cold but a little embarrassed and she smiled a little
Well smiled a little before leaving the room.
And for the first time since she started working there, she felt light.
Outside, she returned to her desk. Alya was still waiting for her.
"Are you done?" Alya asked. "Yes" Well said.
But this time, she sat a little further away. Without her realizing it, from inside the glass office, Vivian was watching her from afar.
And without her realizing it, she smiled.
It was as if something in her heart that had been dormant for a long time began to bloom again like a blooming flower. It seemed that their relationship was getting warmer, what would happen after this?
