Chapter 453 - Chapter 444 Despair and a handful of hope part 4

**Chapter 444**

**Despair and a Handful of Hope – Part 4**

**Scene 1**

**Helska IV**

Helska IV was a frozen wasteland — a thick shell of ice surrounding a vast, dark inner ocean. Occasional pockets of breathable air existed within the icy crust, but the planet was otherwise inhospitable to most known forms of life. No native species had ever evolved here. It was the perfect hiding place.

It was also the site of the Yuuzhan Vong's first major foothold in the galaxy.

Here, the Praetorite Vong — the vanguard force of their long-planned invasion — had planted their yammosk, the massive War Coordinator that served as the neural hub for their entire fleet. From this frozen world, they coordinated their scouts, shaped their bio-weapons, and prepared the path for the full crusade that would one day consume the galaxy.

Yomin Carr, a male Yuuzhan Vong of the warrior caste, had been one of the first advance agents sent ahead. Tasked with preparing the ground, he had operated in secrecy for years, seeding the planet with vongforming organisms and waiting for the signal that would begin the harvest of this new galaxy.

Now, that signal had finally come.

**Arrival at Helska IV**

The moment the *Nightdragon* dropped out of hyperspace, Dagon was already moving.

He didn't wait for clearance. He didn't wait for a shuttle. The second the hangar doors began to open, he leapt out into the void, propelled by raw Force energy and burning rage.

Red lightning crackled across his beskar armor as he unleashed a brief but devastating **Force Storm** — a chaotic maelstrom of Sith lightning that spiraled outward like a living predator. The crimson bolts slammed into the nearest Miid Ro'ik warships — the massive, organic Yuuzhan Vong equivalents of Imperial-class Star Destroyers. Their dovin basals tried desperately to absorb the attack, but the sheer overwhelming power of Dagon's dark side fury tore through their organic hulls.

Two Miid Ro'ik vessels convulsed violently as their yorik coral armor ruptured. Explosive decompression ripped them apart from the inside, sending geysers of frozen atmosphere and organic debris into space.

Thrawn's *Nightdragon* opened fire with chilling precision. Its turbolasers and missile batteries targeted the A-vek Iiluunu fighter carriers — flat, ovoid vessels encircled by spindly docking arms. These carriers were designed to hold over two hundred coralskippers, but their central hulls were relatively fragile. Thrawn's gunners exploited that weakness perfectly. Proton torpedoes and concentrated barrages tore through the carriers' defenses, turning several into expanding clouds of organic shrapnel.

Dagon continued his rampage in open space, lightsaber and beskar sword blazing as he carved through coralskippers that tried to intercept him. His red lightning chained from one enemy fighter to another, frying their pilots and disrupting their dovin basals.

**Scene 3**

**Descent to Helska IV**

"Clear," Dagon commed, voice cold and steady despite the fury burning inside him. "Boarding the Scimitar now."

A sleek, black stealth insertion craft — one of Thrawn's personal designs — docked with him mid-space. Shin Wren and Erictia were already inside, weapons ready. Dagon sealed the hatch behind him and took the pilot's seat.

As the Scimitar dove toward the icy surface of Helska IV, the bond flared violently in his mind.

*Pain.*

*Fear.*

*Suffering.*

The girls were alive — but they were hurting. The Embrace of Pain. He could feel their terror, their confusion, their desperate hope that he was coming.

His red-and-black eyes burned brighter. The dark side surged within him, raw and hungry, feeding on his rage and desperation. The lightning marks across his skin glowed faintly beneath his armor.

*Good,* he thought grimly. *I need the strength.*

Shin placed a hand on his shoulder from behind. "We feel it too," she whispered. "They're alive. We'll get them back."

Erictia leaned forward, amber eyes fierce. "Together."

The Scimitar pierced the icy atmosphere, heading straight for the largest concentration of vongforming structures — the heart of the Praetorite Vong presence on Helska IV.

Dagon's grip tightened on the controls.

*Hold on,* he sent through the bond with everything he had. *I'm coming.*

The frozen world rushed up to meet them — a planet of ice, pain, and monsters.

And Dagon Marek was ready to become the nightmare they feared.
