Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: Ready to Sacrifice

Lily's plan to upgrade through her cautious approach encountered a small setback, as the Wildfire Gang found it increasingly difficult to capture players alive.

As time went on, players gradually became able to defend themselves in battles against Ordinary members of the Wildfire Gang.

This was thanks to the overall increase in player levels and the combat comparison video that Excavation Princess uploaded to the forum a few days ago.

After watching that video, two groups of players stepped forward.

The first group of players had a more complex composition.

Among them were handicraft experts, college engineering students who happened to be on vacation, overworked engineers who could only play for an hour after work, and older brothers who worked in plumbing and civil engineering.

After realizing how free the crafting system in Above the Stars was, they fully utilized their knowledge to build a small manual production base.

This production base could not only produce small traps, but as the big shots said, as long as materials were sufficient, they could even hand-craft firearms.

The second group of players was much more straightforward; they were purely inhumane.

Initially, they just learned from Excavation Princess and others to throw lime and chili powder, but after discovering that most of the Wildfire Gang members wore goggles, they had to develop new tactics.

Some players deliberately enchanted their weapons with feces, some players changed into women's clothing to lure isolated Wildfire Gang members, and some players developed a very practical taunt skill during combat, where he, by himself, furiously cursed the ancestors of the four opponents, creating many opportunities for his teammates to ambush.

Under their inhumane operations, a portion of Wildfire Gang members had already begun to resist fighting them.

There's only so much money in a month; who the hell is risking their life?

Lose and die on the spot, win and be disgusted for life.

Lily once saw a Wildfire Gang member, hit by flying feces, kneeling on the ground, vomiting uncontrollably, crying and wailing as he threw up.

"Too brutal!"

Lily felt a chill down her spine.

She was very glad that she had established good relations with the players.

Facing such unreasonable attacks, even she would find it difficult to cope calmly, after all, she had put all her points into physique, not agility.

After the fright, Lily keenly realized that this was a good opportunity.

When everyone else didn't want to fight the players, she proactively suggested being dispatched, if she couldn't gain a wave of good favor from the Wildfire Gang, she'd write the character 'Fu' upside down!

Facts proved her guess was correct.

Upon hearing that she voluntarily applied to go head-to-head with the players, the Wildfire Gang Leader's favorability directly increased by 21 points, from the original 12 to 33, and his attitude also changed from [Has an Impression] to [Appreciates].

Good, very good!

The Wildfire Gang Leader's face was filled with relief.

Looking at the determination in Lily's eyes, he couldn't help but recall that run under the setting sun, which was his lost youth.

Once upon a time, he was also an ambitious young man, but with the passage of time, he eventually became a middle-aged man with hemorrhoids.

It can only be said that in this day and age, excellent young people like Lily are truly becoming fewer and fewer.

Smart, loyal, ambitious…

If there were more people like Lily in the Wildfire Gang, why worry about not being able to grow stronger, or even move out of this remote corner of the Abandoned Cooling Plant?

"Go find the Chief of the logistics Department; he will arrange a new task for you." The Wildfire Gang Leader paused, then added, "Your performance these past few days has been excellent. If you have any additional requests, you can make them, and I will try my best to fulfill them."

This was an unexpected pleasant surprise, and Lily naturally wouldn't be polite with him.

"Leader, if you put it that way, I do have a small request. I'd like to enter the library and borrow a few books. I picked up a child outside, and she's at the age to learn now, so I want to…"

The Wildfire Gang Leader interrupted her: "No need to say more, I understand what you mean. Besides that locked library, you can enter any other library from now on."
