Chapter 11 - CHAPTER 11: THE STRIKE FROM THE HEAVENS AND THE DEADLY BROOD

In the night sky over the Jūki District, every eye was fixed upward. A brilliant streak of light, like a falling star, tore through the darkness, hurtling toward the earth with terrifying acceleration.

Below, the female Kaiju—a massive specimen codenamed Matriarcha—remained oblivious to the death calling her name. She was occupied, using her guillotine-like claws to shred the steel plating of a fuel tanker, secreting emerald-green acid to dissolve the metal within.

Inside the Mecha Ranger's neural cockpit, the green glow from the circuitry illuminated Kaito's sharp features. The young officer's eyes burned with a resolute blue, perfectly synchronized with the gargantuan machine.

"AI, initiate landing sequence!" Kaito roared into the comms. "Activate cockpit pressure dampeners and the Ranger's descent stabilizers!"

"Orders received. Initiating counter-thrust maneuver," the AI replied in its cold, mechanical tone.

But there was no mercy in Kaito's heart. Instead of firing the thrusters to break his fall for a soft landing as taught in drills, he did something insane. He utilized the raw, kinetic energy of a thousand-ton machine in freefall. The Ranger planted both massive steel feet together, driving a lethal aerial strike directly into the center of the monster's spine.

BOOM!!!

A sound as cataclysmic as a small-scale nuclear explosion shattered the eardrums of everyone nearby. A violent shockwave rippled outward, instantly leveling three nearby warehouses and sending clouds of debris swirling into the air. The Kelyte armor on the Matriarcha's back—the same armor that artillery could pound for days without a scratch—was pulverized instantly under the Ranger's steel heels. The monster's gargantuan body disintegrated into a pulpy mess of crushed flesh and neon-green blood. She was dead before she could even shriek for help.

The Mecha Ranger stood tall amidst the gore, majestic as a god of war. Inside the cockpit, Kaito exhaled a long breath, his eyes scanning the HUD.

Suddenly, the system's biological scanners flared a violent crimson.

"Reproductive structures detected. The neutralized target was a female. Warning: Gestation sacs—"

Before the AI could finish, a new horror emerged. From the deep shadows of the towering factory chimneys nearby, a massive black shape lunged out like a dark arrow. It was the male Spider Kaiju—Goliath-X. Though slightly smaller than the female, his exoskeleton was far more jagged and aggressive. He had come for vengeance.

CRASH! Goliath-X slammed directly into the Ranger's chest. His eight obsidian-armored legs clamped onto the machine like leeches. Two gargantuan fangs, sharp as razors, gnashed against the Ranger's Titan-Carbon alloy skin, creating a blinding shower of sparks. The sudden, brutal impact forced the Ranger back several steps.

Kaito gritted his teeth, his hands white-knuckled on the controls. "Stand your ground!"

He instantly activated the stabilization system. The Ranger's steel feet dug deep into the earth, grinding against asphalt and scrap metal. An ear-piercing SCREEEECH of metal on metal echoed as the machine carved two deep, jagged trenches into the road for dozens of meters to arrest its momentum.

Inside the cockpit, Kaito's hands blurred across the virtual interface with terrifying speed. He braced his left arm. Outside, the Mecha Ranger mimicked the motion, its massive left arm snapping up to seize the Goliath-X by its throat, squeezing with enough force to keep the lethal fangs away from the cockpit.

Immediately after, Kaito yanked the right control lever back to its limit. The Ranger's right arm retracted deep to build momentum. The heat vents behind the elbow hissed open. The reactor core in the machine's chest flared a blinding blue, pumping energy to its absolute threshold.

"Eat this!!!" Kaito roared.

KABOOM!!! The thruster at the elbow erupted in a plume of white fire. The mechanical arm launched forward at supersonic speed—the legendary Rocket Punch. A straight blow of devastating power smashed directly into the monster's maw. The impact was so immense it sent the thousand-ton male flying for hundreds of meters, tumbling through a row of factories like a discarded boulder before slamming into a concrete cliffside, burying it deep within the rock.

While Kaito was occupied with the aggressive male, no one noticed the mangled remains of the Matriarcha.

Beneath the pile of shredded flesh and bubbling green blood, a gargantuan egg sac—the size of a transit bus, pulsing with a hideous light—began to quiver violently.

RIP! The membrane of the sac tore open. The surrounding air was instantly choked by the foul, rancid stench of monster amniotic fluid.

Thousands of spiderlings, each the size of a small child, swarmed out of the ruptured sac. They scuttled over one another in a pitch-black wave. Primal survival instincts and a raw, ancient hunger drove them to hiss and move with lethal speed on eight needle-sharp legs, flooding toward the residential areas and the V.G.U. infantry outposts.

Inside the high command center of Base No. 2, the tension reached a breaking point.

The central radar screen suddenly went haywire. Thousands of tiny red dots appeared in a dense cluster, erupting like a disturbed nest right at the Mecha Ranger's landing site.

"Colonel Kengo! We have a situation!" a radar technician screamed in panic. "It's a brood sac! Countless small targets are flooding toward the vanguard at high velocity!"

Colonel Kengo slammed his hand onto the command table, his solitary eye flashing with fury. "Notify all infantry outposts immediately! Order them to deploy flamethrowers and wide-area electric fences now! Do not let a single one through!"

But the technician was breaking out in a cold sweat. He pounded the keys frantically as the screen displayed a wall of red error messages.

"I-I can't, sir! Connection is lost! There's something... a massive electromagnetic interference zone of unknown origin just blanketed the entire combat theater! We can't identify the source! The infantry units have been completely isolated!"

Back at the Jūki District front.

At Squad 7's outpost, oblivious to the disaster flooding toward them, the V.G.U. soldiers leaned against a concrete bunker. A few battle-hardened veterans were calmly lighting cigarettes, laughing and mocking the rookies who were clutching their rifles with trembling hands, faces pale as ghosts.

"See that, you chicks?" one veteran took a long drag of his cigarette, exhaling a plume of white smoke with a loud laugh. "With Lieutenant Kaito here, infantry like us are just here for the scenery! Relax, we might as well take a nap and pick up our paychecks in the morning."

But in a dark corner behind Squad 7, within the narrow alleyways, Arata's eyes were glowing with a lethal, predator-red.

He was the only one in the squad not laughing. Driven by the second heartbeat thudding in his chest, Arata's senses were magnified to their absolute limit. His pupils constricted like a cat's in the dark.

"That scuttling sound..." Arata thought, sweat beginning to bead on his forehead.

His perspective shifted. Right on the crumbling brick wall directly above the laughing soldiers, in the dead silence of the night, dozens of jagged, spike-covered black shadows with dripping fangs were slowly crawling down. They moved without a sound, preparing for a bloody slaughter.

RIP...
