Mrs Graves turned to her son.
The hall fell silent as everyone now had theirs eyes on Lita except from Zeke of course who was still glaring at Cole.
"That good, I thought brother will never get married with this attitude of his" Anderson said chuckling breaking the once chocking silence...." So what your name dear sister-in-law?" Anderson asked facing Lita with a smile so bright it could melt the sun.
"L..Lita" she answered trying to keep eye contact with him even if she was uncomfortable with the silent chills she was feeling from Mrs Graves.
"Lita" Anderson repeated..."That a sweet name" Anderson continued still smiling at her.
"So..... Miss Lita, tell me a little about yourself?" Mrs Graves asked not out of curiosity but out of entertainment.
"I....I have a sick grandma that I'm taking care of and I'm an o....orphan".
"An orphan you say?" Mrs Graves started as she turned to look at Zeke then back at Lita....." So in other words you're poor" Mrs Graves asked disgusted.
A sudden bang made everyone face one person " Zeke", Zeke had hit the table out of frustration.
"We will be on our way, that's all I wanted you to know I'm getting married in two weeks come if you want" Zeke said coldly as he stood up to leave.
"Sit" Mrs Graves ordered as she glared at Zeke.
"Why should I?" Zeke asked about to leave.
"I didn't say I was okay with...her"
"You don't need to be,the point is I have a partner for tomorrow and you have to give me dad's company" Zeke confronted as he walked straight to Lita grabbing her wrist.."let's go" Zeke ordered
Lita just followed trying to shut down all her questions.
When they got to the car the silence was almost deafening,Zeke pretended none of what happened happened and Lita knew from the silence that this was not the time to ask questions.
" Where do you live?" Zeke asked abruptly breaking the silence.
"Yo....you can drop me at that stop" Lita answered.
The stop wasn't too far from where they were, Lita wanted to drop there cause her grandma was in the hospital nearby.
"We are here Miss." The chauffeur finally spoke turning to Lita.
"Good night Mr Graves" Lita said softly before closing the door of the car.
" I'll pick you up from here tomorrow 1pm" Zeke stated.
And just like that.
The car vanished.
Lita sighed facing the door of the hospital.
The moment of truth.
Lita pushed the door open.
Antiseptic filled the air.
Sounds of machines beeping echoed in the hall.
And then she got to her stop, the room.
Her fist tightened as she forced a smile.
The door was opened and a frail old woman could be seen.
Lita walked close to her.
"I'm here grandma" Lita spke softly as she pulled a chair not too far from the frail older woman.
"Oh you're here" The old lady muttered
"Yes grandma" Lita said calmly with a forced smile.
" I...is something wrong?" the older woman asked.
Lita held her grandma's hand gently like it was the most fragile thing in her eyes.
She paused.
Just for a second.
"I'm getting married" she stated firmly.
