Chapter 17 - Dealing with Lothian

Meanwhile, Estrella waited for them in the sitting room, scrolling through her phone.

She heard footsteps coming from the stairs. She looked up and saw Luciano and Chairman Banks descending.

She stood up. "Are we leaving now?"

Chairman Banks feigned a pained expression. "Already tired of this old man?"

Estrella laughed it off. "No, I was just asking."

"I know," Chairman Banks said as he walked over to her side.

"We are leaving," Luciano said.

Estrella picked up her bag, ready to go.

"Wait," Chairman Banks stopped them.

"You see, in a marriage, one has to be patient. Two people raised in different homes, with different beliefs, can only live together by being tolerant of one another. It's true—they will fight. But they should still be able to forgive each other. Try to make the marriage work."

Estrella couldn't help but feel guilty for lying to him. Now, he was completely invested in it.

Still, she forced a smile. "We will try our best."

Chairman Banks nodded.

Luciano, on the other hand, didn't bother to fake any emotion.

Just then, Butler Neil walked over.

"Good day, Mr. and Mrs. Banks."

Estrella nodded in response, wondering who he was.

"This is Butler Neil," Chairman Banks introduced.

"Oh," Estrella muttered.

"He will be going with you."

Going with them?

She turned to look at Luciano for a reaction, but he wore his usual stoic expression.

"He will guide you on how to make your marriage work," Chairman Banks added with a smile.

What? Teach them how to make a marriage work?

She looked at Luciano, constantly signaling for him to refuse.

But he seemed not to notice as he turned toward the car.

Estrella had no choice but to follow.

As she opened the car door—

"Estrella," Chairman Banks suddenly called out.

She turned back. "Yes?"

"Don't forget what we discussed in the study."

She remembered their conversation but couldn't fully agree.

Still, seeing how hopeful he looked, she nodded.

She would try her best.

Chairman Banks smiled.

Butler Neil asked curiously, "Why do you think she can help the young master?"

"She has gone through it and survived it. Only she can help him overcome the past—because she understands him," Chairman Banks replied.

Butler Neil understood what he meant. "Goodbye, Chairman."

He bowed before following Luciano and Estrella, getting into the car behind them.

Inside the car, Estrella sat beside Luciano.

She wanted to lash out at him. How could he agree to this?

But seeing how gloomy he looked, she kept quiet.

Does this mean we now have to pretend even at home?

By the time they arrived at Luciano's mansion, the maids came out to greet them. Aunty Smith was also there.

"You didn't come home last night," Aunty Smith said.

"Yes, grandfather insisted we stay," Estrella replied.

"Did you enjoy your stay with him?"

"Yes."

"He is a nice man."

Luciano walked past them.

Even Aunty Smith noticed his gloomy mood.

Before she could ask what was wrong, she saw Butler Neil stepping out of the car.

A hint of surprise flashed across her face.

What was he doing here?

"Good day, Housekeeper Smith," Butler Neil greeted.

Aunty Smith didn't respond. She only snorted coldly.

Butler Neil wasn't offended. He simply smiled and walked away.

"What is he doing here?" she asked Estrella, her tone turning hostile.

"Grandfather asked him to come with us," Estrella explained.

Aunty Smith clenched her fists and walked away.

Estrella was surprised by her reaction. She had always known her to be someone who smiled warmly.

But she shook it off and went inside.

Meanwhile, Luciano headed straight to his study.

He turned on his laptop and connected with Berry on a video call.

"Look into Lothian's recent activities."

Berry's eyes narrowed.

Lothian? What did that crazy man do again? he wondered.

Then he nodded. "I'll look into it right away."

Berry put the call on hold.

Luciano leaned back in his chair.

How dare he try to kill the old man? I'll make him regret it.

Berry's face appeared on the screen again.

"He has been frequently visiting Choice Bar these days. He's trying to collaborate with the Thompson family—he wants to venture into the entertainment industry."

The entertainment industry… interesting, Luciano thought.

"He's suddenly interested in entertainment?"

"Give me a list of top entertainment companies in Milan," Luciano ordered. "And inform the Thompson family that Banks Corp will also be entering the entertainment industry. I want to collaborate with them."

More like sabotage Lothian's plans, Berry thought.

He nodded. "Okay, boss."

Then Luciano added calmly, "Also, find someone to tie him up in a sack and give him a good beating."

Berry paused. "How bad?"

"He should be on a wheelchair for at least two months."

A wheelchair for two months… Lothian really crossed the line this time, Berry thought.
