Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: Root and Branch

The interior of the SUV was silent, save for the low hum of the air conditioning and the rapid-fire scrolling of data on Tobi's tablet. Outside, the vibrant chaos of Accra's evening traffic blurred past, but Tobi's mind was 500 miles away, back in the sterile, air-conditioned offices of the Lagos Ministry of Transport.

[System Notification: Decoding Complete.]

[Subject: 'The Mole'.]

[Identity: Director Samuel Okon Head of Logistics Licensing.]

Tobi felt a grim smile touch his lips. Director Okon. The man who had taken Tobi's "consultation fee" with a handshake and a promise of protection. The man who was currently holding a secret meeting with the Vulture Syndicate's offshore accounts.

"Tobi, look at these timestamps," Ama said, leaning over from the passenger seat. Her eyes were wide as she tracked the flow of money. "Okon didn't just leak your route data. He sold the GPS coordinates of your high-value medical shipments. He's the reason those riders were ambushed in Lagos."

The temperature in the car seemed to drop ten degrees.

[Warning: Host's Blood Pressure Rising.]

[System Recommendation: Maintain 'Monarch's Calm' to optimize tactical execution.]

"He didn't just sell data," Tobi said, his voice a low, vibrating chord of fury. "He sold the lives of my people. He thinks he's safe behind his mahogany desk and his government title. He thinks I'm just a boy who got lucky with an app."

Tobi tapped a command into the System interface.

[Skill Activation: 'Imperial Decree' Level 1.]

[Targeting: Ministry of Transport Internal Server.]

[Objective: Total Information Extraction.]

"Ama, give me the satellite link to Okon's private office," Tobi commanded. "The System is showing his laptop is active. He's working late. Probably counting his blood money."

As Ama synced the coordinates, Tobi's vision shifted. The System overlaid a digital blueprint of the Ministry building onto his retinas. He could see the heat signatures of the security guards, the pulse of the fiber-optic cables, and the lone figure sitting in the corner office on the fifth floor.

[Quest Update: 'Root and Branch'.]

[Step 1: Infiltrate and Expose.]

"I'm in," Tobi whispered.

On the screen, a private WhatsApp web session appeared. Okon was typing a message to an encrypted number: 'The boy is in Ghana. He's vulnerable. Move the second phase of the strike now. I want Apex dissolved by Monday.'

"He's still trying to kill us," Ama gasped. "Even after we secured the Mensah deal."

"He's trying to survive," Tobi corrected. "If Apex thrives, his corruption comes to light. He has to bury me to stay clean. But he forgot one thing: I am the ghost in his machine."

Tobi didn't just delete the message. He diverted it.

With a few keystrokes, Tobi mirrored Okon's entire hard drive every bribe, every secret mistress, every offshore transaction and uploaded it directly to the EFCC (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission) server. But he didn't stop there. He set a time-delay. He wanted to look the man in the eye first.

"Call him," Tobi said.

"What? Now?"

"Call his private line. Put it on speaker."

Ama dialed. The phone rang three times before a self-important, gravelly voice answered. "Who is this? I'm in a meeting."

"Director Okon," Tobi said, his voice flat and terrifyingly calm. "I hope the 'meeting' is going well. Is the Vulture Syndicate paying you enough for my head, or do you need a top-up?"

There was a sudden, violent silence on the other end. Tobi could hear the sound of a chair scraping against a floor.

"Tobi? What... what is the meaning of this? You should be in Accra"

"I am in Accra, Samuel. And I'm also inside your computer. I'm looking at your Cayman Island balance. ₦250 million? You sold your soul for a discount."

"You... you're bluffing. You can't prove anything"

"I don't need to prove it to you," Tobi interrupted. "I just proved it to the EFCC. The upload hit their main server ten seconds ago. Along with the GPS logs of the ambushed riders. They're leaving the Ikoyi office right now, Samuel. You have about twelve minutes before the sirens start."

Okon's breathing became ragged. "Tobi, wait! We can talk! I can give you Okeke! I can give you everyone!"

"You already gave me everyone in that cache," Tobi said, leaning back as the SUV turned onto the coastal road. "The root is dead, Samuel. Now, I'm coming for the branches."

Tobi disconnected the call.

[New Feature Unlocked: 'The Shadow Ledger' Automatically tracks and predicts the movements of all identified enemies.]

"You just destroyed a Director of Transport while sitting in traffic," Ama said, staring at Tobi with a mixture of awe and genuine terror. "Do you have any idea what kind of vacuum that's going to create in Lagos?"

"A vacuum I intend to fill," Tobi said. He looked at the 1.7k views on his phone. The numbers were still ticking up. 1.8k... 1.9k... "The world thinks I'm a logistics company. They haven't realized I'm the new law."

Tobi looked at the screen one last time. A new name appeared at the top of the Shadow Ledger. It wasn't Okeke. It wasn't Okon. It was a name that made even Tobi's blood run cold.

[Next Target Identified: The Chairman.]

"Let them come," Tobi whispered to the dark Atlantic. "I have 1.7k reasons to win."

[End of Chapter 15]

Director Okon thought he was untouchable, but Tobi just wiped him off the map from a different country! 🇳🇬🇬🇭 The 'Root' is gone, but 'The Chairman' is a whole new level of danger. Is Tobi ready for the real shadow behind the Syndicate?
