The cool air of the Oriental Hotel was a distant memory. Outside, the Lagos night was thick, humid, and smelled of salt and diesel. Tobi stood in the middle of his makeshift command center in the "Cursed Mansion." The room was stripped bare, save for a massive, glowing holographic map of the city projected from his phone.
[System Notification: Quest 'The Lifeline of Lagos' is Active.]
[Time Remaining: 05:42:11]
[Condition: 50,000 Medical Units must reach 12 Zonal Hospitals.]
"Fifty thousand lives," Tobi whispered to himself. The weight of it was different from the thrill of winning a poker hand or buying a car. If a single bike went down, if a cooler failed, children in the outskirts of Ikorodu or Epe wouldn't get their vaccines.
He tapped the screen, and 50 green dots flickered to life. His riders—the "Apex Vanguard." They were the best of his original crew, handpicked and now equipped with the new Apex-Shield Coolers he had purchased from the System shop for ₦2 Million earlier that night.
"Listen up," Tobi's voice boomed through the encrypted radio link in every rider's helmet. "Tonight, you aren't just delivery boys. You are the heartbeat of this city. The Ministry of Health couldn't do this. The billionaires couldn't do this. But Apex will. No speed limits. No excuses. If a tire blows, you carry the box on your back. Move!"
The green dots began to scatter across the map like a disturbed hive of hornets.
Tobi watched the data streams. His Logistics King skill was working overtime, calculating the most efficient routes through the notorious Lagos "go-slows" and the dangerous "Area Boy" checkpoints.
Suddenly, a red flash erupted on the northern sector of the map.
[Alert: Unit 07 (Rider: Emeka) has stopped moving.]
[Location: Third Mainland Bridge — Midpoint.]
[Status: Mechanical Failure / External Interference Detected.]
Tobi's eyes narrowed. The Third Mainland Bridge at 2:00 AM was a no-man's land. "Emeka, report. Why are you stationary?"
Only static came back. Then, a muffled sound of shouting and the unmistakable clatter of a motorcycle being kicked over.
"Boss... they... they blocked the road," Emeka's voice finally broke through, strained and breathless. "Three black SUVs. They aren't police. They're wearing Okeke's Logistics uniforms! They're smashing the coolers, boss! They're—"
The line went dead.
Tobi felt a cold fury settle in his chest. Mr. Okeke hadn't just tried to compete; he had opted for sabotage. He was willing to let medical supplies rot just to protect his bruised ego.
"System," Tobi growled. "I need an intercept. What's the fastest way to the bridge?"

"Do it," Tobi snapped. "And activate 'The Eye of the Storm'."

Tobi didn't take the SUV. He grabbed his own customized Apex bike—a matte-black monster with a reinforced frame. He kicked the engine over, and it didn't roar; it hummed with the sound of a jet turbine.
He tore out of the Banana Island gates, a blur of black against the streetlights. The world slowed down. He could see the individual wings of insects hitting his visor. He moved between cars like a ghost, his tires screaming as he leaned into turns that should have been impossible.
He reached the bridge in under four minutes.
Under the orange glow of the streetlamps, he saw the scene. Emeka was on the ground, two thugs holding him down while a third raised a heavy crowbar over one of the medical coolers.
"Stop," Tobi said.
His voice wasn't loud, but in the silence of the bridge, it sounded like a crack of thunder.
The thugs turned. One of them, a massive man with a scarred face, laughed. "Look at this. The 'CEO' himself came to play. Okeke said you might show up. He told us to make sure you don't go back to your fancy mansion tonight."
The three men pulled out iron rods and machetes. They weren't just thugs; they were professionals.
Tobi didn't move. He adjusted his gloves. [Contractor's Eye: Target Weak Points.]
The System highlighted three glowing red spots on the lead thug: Left Knee, Solar Plexus, Jaw.
"You have five seconds to walk away," Tobi said. "After that, the System won't let me be merciful."
"The 'System'?" the leader mocked, lunging forward with the crowbar. "I'll show you a—"
He never finished the sentence. To the thugs, Tobi simply vanished. To Tobi, the leader was moving through molasses. Tobi stepped to the left, his movement so precise it didn't even disturb the dust on the road. He delivered a single strike to the man's solar plexus.
The leader folded like a cheap suit, the air leaving his lungs in a sickening whoosh.
The other two charged. Tobi didn't even break a sweat. He used the momentum of the first attacker to swing around, his boot connecting with the second man's jaw with the sound of a breaking branch. The third man dropped his machete and turned to run, but Tobi caught him by the collar and slammed him against the railing of the bridge.
"Tell Okeke," Tobi whispered into the man's ear, "that every time he touches one of my bikes, I'll take one of his warehouses. By the time the sun rises, he won't have a business left to sabotage."
He dropped the man and turned to Emeka. "You okay?"
"I... I think so, boss," Emeka stammered, looking at Tobi with pure worship in his eyes. "But the cooler... is it broken?"
Tobi looked at the dented metal. [System: Repair 'Apex-Shield' Unit.]
[Repair Cost: ₦500,000. Initiating...]
The metal groaned and popped back into place. The temperature gauge, which had been climbing, plummeted back to a steady 2°C.
"It's fine," Tobi said, helping Emeka up. "Get moving. You have three more hospitals to hit. I'll clear the rest of the bridge."
As Emeka sped off, Tobi stood on the edge of the bridge, looking out over the water toward the skyline of Lagos. He could feel the power pulsing through his veins—the overclocking was still active.
He pulled up his phone. "Apex Command. All riders, listen. Sabotage has been confirmed. Activate 'Convoy Protocol'. If you see a black SUV, do not stop. Ram them if you have to. I am taking over the lead signal."
Across the city, 49 green dots shifted into a defensive formation. The "Delivery Boy" was no longer just a merchant. He was a commander.
