Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Vampire Capture Plan!

Under the shadowless lamp, a large amount of blood was pumped into the subject's body. The head of the person before them rapidly regenerated. In less than thirty seconds, the severed head had grown back completely.

The middle-aged man, whose head had regenerated, was no longer unconscious. He began to struggle violently and howl. His blood-red eyes gleamed with endless terror. It seemed this wasn't his first time experiencing such an ordeal.

"Ahhh!!! Let me go! Please let me go!!" he shrieked. "I won't dare to drink blood again, I won't! Please let me go! I know I was wrong! Please don't torture me anymore... just ask me whatever you want to know, I'll tell you everything!"

"Ahhh..." His piercing screams made Matthew frown.

As if noticing the change in his boss's mood, William Birkin glanced at the personnel outside the tempered glass. "Quiet him down," he commanded. The machine controlling the sedative injection began to frantically pump the drug into the middle-aged man. Only when the man stopped speaking, his eyes vacant and lifeless, did the operations outside the glass cease.

Next, William Birkin conducted a series of even more cruel experiments on the man. Severed hands and feet were considered 'minor injuries' in William's hands. This brutal scene even made Matthew frown slightly, so he simply went outside and stopped watching the testing process.

Soon, William completed a series of tests on the middle-aged man. The results were unanimous: "The subject possesses an extremely high degree of regeneration," without even a scar. After all this, William put down the various 'torture instruments' in his hands. "According to the experimental tests," he stated, "the new Experimental Subject will rapidly regenerate when blood supply is abundant. It will not die whether its heart is pierced or its head is severed."

"I suspect..." William began.

"You suspect he's a Vampire from mythology, don't you?" Matthew, from outside the glass wall, interrupted William's next words.

"Mm," William nodded seriously.

"In that case, we just need to test him with pure silver," Matthew suggested. He then said loudly, "I have a Medieval Greatsword made of pure silver in my office, displayed on the bookshelf cabinet. Have someone retrieve it."

The Marvel Universe indeed contained the species of Vampire, which originated from the highly popular IP 'Blade'. Because of this, Matthew did not rule out the possibility that elements from that popular IP had been integrated into the current world.

At Matthew's signal, it wasn't long before a personnel member brought the Medieval Greatsword that served as a decoration. Taking the greatsword, Matthew re-entered the experimental area and looked up at the unconscious middle-aged man. Without any hesitation, a flash of silver sword light severed the man's five fingers at the root.

But this time, no matter how much blood the personnel injected into the man, the wounds on his palm did not heal. Instead, they showed cross-sections resembling burns from fire. William's eyes widened in disbelief at this sight, and an indescribable look of madness appeared on his face.

"I can't believe it's true!!" William cackled. "I can't believe there really is such a species as Vampire in the world! Hahahaha!" For William Birkin, nothing was better than discovering an even better Experimental Subject. The only thing better would be the success of his experiment.

"Pause the sedative injection, let him wake up," William commanded outwards. Immediately, a chilling smile appeared on his face. Under the pale light, his gloom and madness were displayed even more vividly.

"Didn't he say he'd tell us whatever we wanted to know? Excellent! Let's find out the locations of his companions and capture them all!" William exclaimed. "An Experimental Subject with innate super regenerative abilities might just be the key to a breakthrough in this experiment."

The first thing the middle-aged man did upon recovering from his coma was to struggle frantically and scream. Especially after seeing the injuries on his palm, his struggles became even more intense.

"Please! Don't kill me! I know I was wrong, I shouldn't have attacked you!" he pleaded. "But I was just so hungry, so hungry... Wuwuwu, I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" The man's face was filled with terror, tears continuously streaming down from the corners of his eyes.

Facing the man's pleas, William Birkin's face instead wore a benevolent smile. He gently comforted, "Don't be afraid, I won't hurt you this time. I just want to ask you a few simple questions."

"If you answer honestly, I'll let you go back. How does that sound?"

"Really?" The man's eyes widened, as if he had heard something incredible.

"Of course it's true, why would I lie to you?" William replied. At this moment, William was like a creepy uncle luring a child with a lollipop, his tone exceptionally gentle.

"Then please ask away! I'll tell you everything I know! I only beg you to let me go!" the man cried. At this moment, he was like a drowning person grasping at a straw. Although he harbored distrust, he dared not hesitate, fearing this life-saving straw would vanish in an instant.

"Alright then, I'll ask you." William Birkin didn't beat around the bush, getting straight to the point. "Where are your companions?"

The man's body trembled at the question, a flicker of panic in his eyes. Just as he was about to say something, William Birkin interrupted him again.

"Don't rush to answer me yet," William warned. "You should be clear about the consequences of answering incorrectly, so think carefully about how you should answer this question next."

"Now, speak." Under the cool-toned light, William's stiff smile filled people with dread. Cold sweat dripped from the man's forehead, and he nervously swallowed.

"I... I..." He looked up at William's face, then glanced at the blood-soaked 'torture instruments' nearby. Finally, he made up his mind.

'I'm sorry... I'm sorry! Please forgive me!' he thought. 'I really can't take it anymore, I don't want to be tortured here for the rest of my life... and I certainly don't want to become their experiment subject.' 'So...'

"I'll tell you... I'll tell you everything," he stammered. The man suddenly deflated. This time, he didn't hesitate in the slightest, honestly revealing the locations of dozens of companions he knew. His eyes were filled with a desperate desire to live, without a trace of guilt. Only after he had rattled off dozens of locations did he finally manage to close his mouth.

"Is that all?" William, who was recording the locations nearby, confirmed.

"Mm," the man nodded. Seeing William look at him with a distrustful expression, he quickly explained, "Th-these really are all the locations I know!"

"Our kind are few in number compared to humans, and because we don't want to attract government attention, we rarely contact each other. These are all the locations of our kin that I know."

"Is that so..." William frowned, stroking his chin, then turned and smiled. "Mm, I believe you."

"Then can you let me go?" The man looked at William with hopeful eyes.

However, this time, William did not respond. Instead, he turned his head to look outside the glass wall and coldly commanded, "Re-inject the Experimental Subject with sedative."

"!!!" the man screamed. "No no no! You can't do this to me! You can't do this to me!!"

"You treacherous bastard! You'll go to hell! You'll go to hell!"

Listening to the frantic shouts and curses behind him, William remained completely unaffected, striding confidently out.

After handing the recorded addresses to Matthew, William's face was already filled with fanaticism. "Boss, please issue the capture order!" he urged. "I want to capture all these rats hiding in the sewers!!"
