Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Matthew: You, Go Hire All the Resident Evil Protagonists to Umbrella

Matthew's expression was noticeably more relaxed as he returned to his office. The soft leather chair was like a plush piece of bread, conforming tightly to his body and enveloping him completely. His gaze fell upon the System Panel. The substantial sum of six hundred eighty System Points made Matthew feel a little inflated for a moment. "System, optimize all the flaws of the T-Virus Serum."

[Optimizing all flaws of the 'T-Virus Serum' will cost three hundred eighty System Points. Proceed with optimization?]

"Yes." With Matthew's command, the T-Virus Serum placed in the 'Experiment' slot was immediately enveloped in a blue light... After the light faded. The originally dark blue injection had now transformed. A transparent, water-like liquid filled the test tube, completely free of bubbles. Compared to its previous eerie, dark blue hue, the current serum appeared far too ordinary. 'This means the current T-Virus no longer has any side effects.' Matthew took the T-Virus out of the Experiment slot and carefully examined the serum in his hand.

[Optimized T-Virus Serum: Upon injection, it can strengthen and reorganize the host's DNA, granting astonishing Stamina and vitality, slightly increasing Strength and Neural Reflexes, and allowing activity for a period even with severely damaged vital organs. Note: Original side effects have been removed.]

Matthew frowned as he looked at the System's explanation of the current T-Virus. 'This was far from his expectation of becoming a human Tyrant after injection; it was practically no different from a small zombie with autonomous movement.' 'If I want to achieve what I envisioned, I'll need to continue optimizing it... This current improvement is nowhere near what I expected.'

He placed the T-Virus Serum back into the Experiment slot. Now, without the flaw options, the T-Virus only had advantages that could be further optimized and upgraded.

[Stamina LV1 upgraded to LV2 effect, Physiological functions break through limits, allowing sustained high-intensity activity for seventy-two hours without resupply (Costs one hundred fifty System Points).]

[Cell Regeneration LV1 upgraded to LV2 effect: Can sustain combat for half a minute even with fatal organ damage, limb regeneration efficiency increased to thirty minutes (Costs two hundred System Points).]

[Strength LV1 upgraded to LV2 effect, Instantaneous explosive power can crush a human skull, full sprint speed reaches forty meters per second (Costs three hundred System Points).]

[Neural Reflexes LV1 upgraded to LV2 effect, Can detect and react to the trajectory of subsonic bullets from medium to long range (Costs three hundred System Points).]

His gaze swept through the series of options. Suddenly, Matthew spoke, "System, if I use the T-Virus now, will I still be able to upgrade and optimize it later?"

[System User Manual Article 109, After using a System item, the host can attempt to place themselves in the Experiment slot for optimization.]

"Understood." Matthew nodded. "In that case, I choose to upgrade Strength."

[Upgrading 'Strength' to LV2 will cost three hundred System Points. Proceed with upgrade?]

"Upgrade."

Another flash of blue light. A few red threads appeared within the pure, water-like injection. The upgrade was complete. Matthew took out the syringe. Without any hesitation, he plunged it straight into his arm!

The injection was smoothly pushed in. Accompanied by a cool, icy sensation flowing throughout his body, Matthew felt as if he was submerged in ice water. However, this coolness wasn't overly stimulating; instead, it was incredibly gentle, making him comfortably close his eyes. 'He didn't know how much time had passed.' When the gentle coolness receded, he slowly opened his eyes. An unprecedented sense of lightness enveloped him completely, as pure as if he had just been born, without a trace of illness or old injuries.

Carefully feeling the sense of power emanating from his limbs and bones, Matthew didn't hesitate. He immediately headed towards the training ground on the twenty-fifth underground floor.

Inside the facility, the large number of spent casings left behind had already been cleaned up and recycled. Hunk, who Eleanor had called in for training earlier, had also long since returned to his dormitory to rest. Now, Matthew was the only one left in the vast training ground. 'This was perfect, saving him the trouble of shooing away others and allowing him to familiarize himself with his current physical condition without accidentally jumping and hitting the ceiling.'

The training ground was equipped with various training apparatuses, as well as different strength-testing machines. However, he didn't intend to use the equipment in the facility to test his physical strength; instead, he opted for the most primitive method.

He stopped before a brick wall that had been half-blown apart. Matthew's eyes narrowed slightly, and the punching technique Hunk had taught him flashed through his mind. Feet pushing off the ground... hips rotating... power to the fist!

*Whoosh*, the sound of rushing air tore through the previously silent atmosphere. One moment, his fist hung naturally by his side; the next, it was like a cannonball fired from a barrel, slamming into the brick wall!

*Boom!* Only a harsh collision echoed through the space! Dust billowed out with the force of the punch, instantly obscuring his vision! The sudden loud noise even startled Matthew; 'he had never imagined that a simple punch could create such a massive commotion...'

As the dust settled. Looking at the already damaged wall, a bowl-sized hole had been torn open by that single punch! And Matthew, the one who caused all this, merely had slightly reddened knuckles; his skin wasn't even broken...

Next, Matthew tested his jumping ability, Stamina, and speed. The results were all highly satisfactory! In a full sprint, his speed was around forty-two meters per second. His jumping ability was even more astonishing; he could leap three meters high from a standing start! As for Stamina... Matthew hadn't yet found his limit. At least, under training regimens that even Olympic champions couldn't endure, he felt no fatigue whatsoever.

...Days passed and nights fell. Sunlight pierced through the curtains, shining on Eleanor's face. The bright golden light illuminated her beautiful and captivating cheeks, making her look especially charming. Especially this endearing sleeping posture; if anyone else in the company saw it, it would surely shatter her 'ice queen' persona. And at the corner of her mouth, there was a faint, inexplicable smile, as if she were having a wonderful dream.

*Buzz, buzz, buzz*, Just then, the phone by her pillow vibrated unpleasantly a few times, causing Eleanor to frown in her sleep. 'Who is it?! Doesn't anyone know the boss finally gave herself a day off?! Sending messages at a time like this!'

But soon, Eleanor suddenly realized... this vibration frequency... it seemed to be for the dedicated phone used to contact the boss... Realizing this, Eleanor jolted awake! She quickly looked at her phone screen!

[Matthew Lawrence (Boss): I apologize for disturbing your vacation, but I suddenly remembered something very important that I need you to handle.]
