"Shen—I mean, Wenzhi! Where are you?!"
Doctor Rui's shrill voice came buzzing through the phone in Wenzhi's hand. Wenzhi barely heard her.
He stood frozen in front of the full-length mirror, staring blankly at his reflection.
He was dressed in a perfectly tailored black suit, nothing extravagant, just clean lines, sharp shoulders, and dark fabric that made his pale skin stand out even more.
His hand rested flat against his chest. His heart was pounding against his ribs.
"I think I've made a terrible mistake," Wenzhi breathed.
"Let me guess. You're nervous."
The door swung open before he could even answer. Doctor Rui walked straight inside without knocking, because privacy had clearly never been a concept in her vocabulary.
"I hope you're not naked!" she announced, not even waiting for a response.
Wenzhi turned toward her. She marched over, snatched the phone out of his limp hand, and shot him a pointed look. "Come on. All the guests are already here."
"All of them?"
