Boom.
A tremendous roar erupted in an instant.
Rowan's punch, powerful enough to overturn rivers and seas, posed not even the slightest danger to Serie.
The reason was simple:
defensive magic.
Hexagonal energy shields locked together, forming a half-dome barrier like a honeycomb.
That barrier casually blocked Rowan's fist.
"A very powerful punch."
Sensing the feedback from her defensive magic, Serie nodded in approval. The force of that punch was strong enough to rival the spells cast by a first-class mage. Even in her world, it would count as an excellent attack.
Very few warriors could throw out a strike like that so casually.
At the very least, a great mage like her couldn't punch with that kind of raw power.
"Hey, Serie. Do you want to gain this kind of power?"
Rowan suddenly asked.
Serie paused.
Rowan continued, "I can not only let myself learn the abilities of other worlds, I can grant that qualification to others as well. If it's you, you'd definitely be able to awaken Conqueror's Haki with ease."
"Oh?"
Serie let out a soft laugh. She had to admit, she was interested.
No, more accurately, she was very interested.
But she also knew there was no such thing as a free lunch. The only reason Rowan was going out of his way to help her was because he wanted something from her in return.
And as for what he wanted, Serie already knew perfectly well.
"You really like magic that much?"
"Yes. More than anything, I want to keep progressing."
Rowan didn't hide his desire at all, because there was no need to.
"Very well."
After thinking it over, Serie nodded in agreement.
To be honest, she knew far too many spells. Giving Rowan one or two really meant nothing to her.
The moment Serie agreed, Rowan immediately granted her the qualification to learn the abilities of the One Piece world.
Serie vaguely sensed a subtle force enter her body, as though something had changed—or perhaps nothing had changed at all.
Then, in the very next second, an overwhelming burst of Conqueror's Haki exploded from her.
A great mage who had survived since the mythic age, an ancient being who had lived through who knew how many millennia and stood second only to the Goddess herself—there was simply no way to imagine how terrifying her Conqueror's Haki would be.
Compared to hers, Rowan felt like his own Haki was child's play.
Minato Namikaze and Kanae both let out muffled groans and collapsed unconscious on the spot.
Hashirama instinctively released his own Conqueror's Haki in an attempt to resist.
But in the next instant, his Haki was completely crushed.
Rowan himself could barely protect himself. His face turned pale, and his head grew heavy and dizzy.
Serie clearly noticed that and immediately withdrew her Conqueror's Haki, which finally let Rowan breathe easier.
But that only made him click his tongue in amazement.
In the world of One Piece, a lot of people thought Red-Haired Shanks had the strongest Haki.
Then the Egghead arc gave them Joy Boy's fleeting burst of Haki and showed everyone what it meant for there to always be someone stronger.
But now, Serie's Haki made Rowan realize that even Joy Boy, compared to this ancient monster, was little more than a greenhorn.
As expected of some immortal relic who had survived since the mythic age.
Terrifying.
Truly terrifying.
Just then, Serie suddenly turned to look at Rowan.
"You're not thinking something rude right now, are you?"
Rowan's heart jumped, and he quickly shook his head. "No, no, absolutely not."
Serie gave him a meaningful look, then withdrew her gaze and raised her slender right hand.
Black-red lightning burst forth, and invisible Haki wrapped around her hand, ready to unleash world-destroying power at any moment.
Rowan's pupils contracted slightly.
Conqueror's coating.
It was definitely Conqueror's coating.
As expected of an ancient monster. Most people spent their whole lives without ever mastering that power, yet the moment she awakened Conqueror's Haki, she had already grasped it. It was unbelievable.
Rowan had thought his own speed in learning Conqueror's coating was already absurdly fast, taking only a few days.
But now that he had seen Serie, he finally understood what it meant for there to always be someone beyond the horizon.
Though considering her age and her ability, it also felt perfectly natural.
"So this is Conqueror's Haki. Interesting indeed."
Serie looked at her right hand. Her fingers were slender, her skin smooth, not a single callus in sight. No matter how you looked at it, it was the hand of someone who had never done manual labor.
And yet who would have thought that such a delicate hand could unleash such terrifying force?
Rowan really wanted to know how terrifying it would be if Serie actually threw that punch.
Unfortunately, she didn't.
After savoring the feel of Conqueror's Haki for a moment, Serie withdrew it and turned her gaze back to Rowan.
"What magic do you want to learn? I can give you three spells."
Since Rowan had helped her awaken Conqueror's Haki, Serie had no intention of being stingy. She was willing to give Rowan three spells.
After thinking for a moment, Rowan said, "I want a spell that can cut almost anything, a mind-control spell, and a speed-enhancing spell."
The spell that could cut almost anything was one used in the original story by a mage named Übel.
Its effect was simple: as long as the user believed something could be cut, then it could be cut—whether it was gold or diamond, a barrier or defensive magic.
As long as the user believed it could be cut, it would be cut.
But the reverse was also true: if the user believed it couldn't be cut, then it couldn't be cut at all.
That spell alone was enough to prove that the magic system in Frieren was deeply idealistic.
It was basically reality shaped by conviction.
As for the mind-control spell, that was one used by another mage named Methode.
The spell worked by making eye contact with the target. Once their eyes met, the caster could control the other person's actions through conversation.
Of course, while it could manipulate someone through dialogue, it would fail against anyone with strong resistance to mental interference, unless the caster was a true expert in mental magic.
The spell had its limitations, but Rowan figured that in either the Naruto world or the One Piece world, people with resistance to mental control were extremely rare.
So it should still be an incredibly useful ability.
As for the final spell, it hadn't appeared in the original story.
But the world of Frieren contained countless spells, including all kinds of weird and ridiculous ones. There was no way Rowan believed there wasn't some spell for increasing speed.
After hearing Rowan's request, Serie asked curiously,
"Just those three?"
