Chapter 34 - The Confrence

I winced as I rubbed the bruises from Sasha's 'reeducation'.

She'd been very displeased when she finally got her hands on me. Not only did I fight the biggest villain of the century while letting them run away, but I also killed said villain on live TV in front of the ENTIRE WORLD.

On top of that, I didn't answer her texts or calls for nearly a day afterward. It took her calling Nezu to realize that I'd been passed out in Recovery Girl's office as they fixed on All Might. So, when she and Izuku were cleared to visit Toshinori and me, she was very direct with how mad she was.

I'd somehow survived the following disaster as the rest of the class took turns shouting at me once they were cleared to visit. Kirishima and Bakugo were the loudest, but Momo and Shoto's body language was the most disappointed.

I'd finally gotten them to calm down as I made sure to check on each of them before Sasha chased them off campus. I would be staying since the media had been clamoring at the gates of U.A this entire time to get to either Toshinori or me.

Nezu was kind enough to give me a place to stay on campus, and Sasha decided that I could no longer be trusted alone and would be staying to 'keep an eye on me'. What she really did was sob in my arms most of the night before spending the rest of the time sleeping as the events of the last week finally caught up to her.

I held her the entire time as we slept well into the next day, just barely in time for the media storm Nezu and I were about to cause.

"I still don't like this," Sasha grumbled as she adjusted my tie once more. She'd done this same motion several times already; this was probably the most nervous I'd ever seen her. "It'll be fine. Tell you what, after this, we'll go on a date, just the two of us." She then gave me the biggest smile and nodded, making everything I was about to do so much more worth it.

I finally left her with a hug and a kiss, as I made my way to the stage where Nezu and Aizawa had already been getting grilled by the media for ten minutes now. As soon as I emerged, shouting and the sound of cameras erupted like a storm as everything focused on me.

I said nothing and reacted to nothing as I took my seat between Nezu and Aizawa, and everything got deadly silent.

"I will not apologize for any of my actions in the last 24 hours. As a student of U.A's heroics program, I saw, as did all of you, a threat to the peace and prosperity of this nation and the world.

Though it pains me to take a life in such a brutal manner, the nature of my foe necessitated such a response. For as long as there have been quirks, the villain known as All For One has done his best to destroy Japan and bring it under his control.

All Might almost succeeded in ending his shadow empire many decades ago, but as you have all seen, he failed. To keep All For One from ever returning as he was, or from influencing those who would keep him alive for his power, I did what was necessary.

As the people of Japan move on from this horrific event, I leave this message.

To those who would use this chaos to further their political schemes, personal vendettas, and for monetary gain. I am watching you, every last one.

To the villains who see an empty throne for the taking. I am coming for all of you, and should you prove to be as dangerous as All For One, you shall meet his fate.

To the heroes who now carry the burden of protecting others, stand tall and firm. Become united, and stand against the dark.

And to you heroes in training, learn from this. Not everything in this world is black and white; sometimes it's grey. Yet it is up to us to continue carrying the torch, to make sure that the sacrifices made by All Might and those before him are not in vain.

That is all."

As soon as I was done talking, I left amidst a flurry of shouted questions. I paid them no mind as I left the room, as if waiting for that very moment, the gacha notified me.

'Huh, this one's better than the rest. Spin it.'

[Spinning, spinning, spinning, done!]

[Dire Wolf]

|Common Familiar|

A large vicious prehistoric wolf the size of a man, they are very strong with tough and sharp teeth and claws, and they are also big enough to be used as a mount. By default, they are female and can reproduce.

'Aww, look at the cute puppy!' Douma said within the familiar space, as I wondered what I should do with him. Problem for future me!

Once I made it back to my room, I changed into more comfortable clothes. I then made my way over to the cafeteria, where Sasha was already eating her lunch. "Hey, tiger. You left quite a mess for Nezu and Aizawa to clean up." I shrugged as I plopped down next to her.

"I don't care at this point. I'm too tired and just want to rest for the rest of the break in peace." I said before perking up, "Not until we have our date, though! Where do you wanna go?" She thought for a moment before answering.

"We could go to the beach. Apparently, Takoba Beach is cleaner nowadays, so we could check it out." She suggested, and I agreed, it'd be interesting to see just how clean Izuku had left that place after his training.

We hashed out a few more details, and I got something to eat when Nezu and Aizawa found us. "You two look rough," I noted, seeing their looks. "I wonder why," Aizawa said dryly as he glared at me before turning on Sasha. "Why are you here?"

"To make sure he doesn't kill any more villains." She said, throwing me under the bus without hesitation as Aizawa grunted his approval before stalking away, likely in search of coffee. Nezu climbed up to sit next to me as he sniffed my food.

"Well, all things considered, it could have gone much worse." He said happily as Sasha raised a brow. "The media is currently tearing my poor tiger a new one, and you're saying it could be worse?" He nodded. "Yes, the government could be sending assassins after him. They may still do so if they deem him a big enough threat, but for now they want to control him."

Sasha didn't like the sound of that. I knew because she took my hand and gripped it like a vice. "That won't be happening." She said simply as Nezu nodded. "Keep him close; many will be vying for your position in the coming days."

I winced as she gripped my hand tighter, but I wisely kept my mouth shut as we finished our food. The rest of our day was pretty relaxed. We spent a few hours just watching Cementoss building the foundations for the various dorms that Nezu had planned.

We hung around, pestering him with questions before he chased us off, and then we went looking for more trouble. We ended up in the Support Course area, watching Hatsume tear apart another failed imitation of the Power Fist I'd given her.

I'd love to help, but I haven't gotten anything related to tech other than Tinker-Vehicles(l), but that wasn't helpful right now. So we just sat and enjoyed talking to someone who had no clue what the outside world had been through in the past 48 hours.

Eventually, though, we got bored with watching Mei, so we left to go check on All Might. "Ah, it seems I have more visitors." He said, spotting us as Izuku jolted. "I would say that I'm disappointed in your actions, but after watching your speech, I know you won't listen."

I nodded as Sasha plopped down onto the bed I'd been filling a few hours ago. "I'm sorry I took his life; it should have been you. I just couldn't take any chances." I admitted as I bowed lightly to him.

"It's quite all right, young man. Though it pains me to say this, you did what I was too weak to do." Izuku looked shocked, but Toshinori didn't stop. "I wish I had been the one to carry such a burden, it is my right as the inheritor of my teacher's will, but even now, I could not bring myself to willingly take a life.

That you have the strength for such a terrible act is a testament to your mental fortitude. I hope you never have to make such a decision as this ever again."

I nodded, despite knowing fully that I would have to take another life, maybe sooner than I liked. The world wouldn't wait for me, though. I then sat next to Sasha and stretched out before glancing at Izuku.

"He knew your name. So be assured, Tomura does as well. The fight lives on within the two of you. Regardless of how you feel, you'd better start coming to terms with the fact that you may need to kill Tomura.

Because if you fail, and he kills you. No one will be left alive to bear witness to your mistake."
