Chapter 4 - Chapter 5: A Message that Changed Everything

By 2025, Ronan had grown used to his quiet life.

He no longer searched for conversations, no longer felt the need to connect deeply with anyone. Life had become simple again—focused, controlled, and emotionally distant.

But the world around him was different.

Almost everyone he knew was in a relationship. His friends often teased him, laughing and saying he was "too immature" to understand love. Ronan would just smile and stay silent, never feeling the need to explain himself.

He had already convinced himself—

Love wasn't for him.

At least… not anymore.

One ordinary day, while sitting with his friends, one of them suddenly handed him a girl's ID.

"Talk to her," his friend said casually. "You might like her."

Ronan didn't react much. Normally, he would ignore something like this. But this time, for reasons he couldn't explain, he didn't say no either.

Later that day, he opened his phone and stared at the screen for a while.

The girl's name was Humaira.

He hesitated.

It had been a long time since he had started a conversation with someone new. He wasn't even sure if he remembered how to talk properly anymore.

Still… after a few seconds of overthinking, he typed a single word.

"Hi."

He paused before sending it, as if even that small message carried weight.

Then he pressed send.

A few moments later—

She replied.

It was simple. Normal. Nothing special.

And yet… something about it felt different.

Their conversation began slowly. Humaira was the opposite of Ronan—open, expressive, and naturally warm. She asked him questions, tried to keep the conversation going, and shared little details about her day.

Ronan, on the other hand, replied in short, careful sentences.

He didn't know how to open up anymore.

He didn't know how to be that version of himself again—the one who used to talk endlessly without thinking.

So he stayed quiet… even in conversation.

After a while, she noticed.

"Why are you replying so dry?" she asked.

"Don't you know how to talk?"

Ronan stared at the message for a moment.

He didn't know what to say.

So, instead of explaining, he simply sent a small smile emoji.

🙂

It was a simple response—but somehow, she understood.

She didn't get annoyed.

She didn't leave.

Instead… she stayed.

And that was the beginning.

They started talking regularly after that. There was no pressure, no expectations—just small conversations that slowly turned into something more comfortable.

Something familiar.

It was during Ramadan when their bond started to grow.

Late-night chats became a routine. They talked about random things, shared thoughts, laughed over small moments. Humaira spoke more, while Ronan listened quietly, replying in his own simple way.

And slowly… without realizing it—

He started waiting for her messages.

Again.

✨ "Sometimes, all it takes is one message…

to change everything."
