Chapter 864: White Queen! Time's End, Origin Spirit, Mio Takamiya
Miki Okamine.
She was a Private First Class of the Anti-Spirit Team stationed at the Tengu City Base. She was also the daughter of Koshiro Okamine, the wealthy president of Okamine Heavy Industries. Discarded as a useless pawn by her own father, she had been ruthlessly driven from her home. But under Ren's wing, she had blossomed into someone entirely indispensable. This was especially true during their late-night, highly intimate 'chicken dinner' survival games, where her stamina and newly acquired skills proved exceptionally useful to him.
Since Miki had been thoroughly claimed, it was only natural that Tamae Okamine followed suit.
As Shiori's homeroom teacher, Tamae possessed a petite, childlike physique that contrasted sharply with her age, her face constantly framed by oversized, ill-fitting glasses. Her scatterbrained charm and student-like appearance earned her the affectionate nickname 'Tama-chan' among her class. Yet, beneath that innocent exterior beat the desperate heart of a twenty-nine-year-old single woman yearning for marriage.
Ren, ever the accommodating gentleman, easily satisfied that craving. A simple engagement ring was all it took to secure her absolute devotion. More, he made sure she experienced the physical bliss of married life to the absolute fullest.
Then came Ai Yamabuki, Mai Hazakura, and Mei Fujibakama.
They were the notoriously close-knit trio of girls from Tamae's class, bonded by their matching names and fiercely strong personalities. Their downfall began the day they accidentally stumbled upon Ren and Tamae sharing a highly compromising moment in the faculty office. One thing led to another, and through a series of shameless maneuvers, they found themselves entirely unable to escape Ren's grasp. If anything, they owed him a debt of gratitude for deepening their friendship into a true, inseparable sisterhood.
But those conquests were merely pleasant diversions. As this journey through time approached its climax, Ren's ultimate objective crystallized into a single, absolute goal.
To claim Tokisaki Kurumi, and every single one of her temporal shadows.
"Are you ready?"
He directed the question to the two figures flanking him. On his left stood Kurumi, draped in her iconic Astral Dress, a captivating blend of orange and black gothic lolita frills. On his right stood a girl clad in a pristine, pure white military uniform. She radiated an aura strikingly similar to Kurumi's, yet the presence she commanded felt entirely alien.
Kurumi cast a complicated glance at the girl in white.
This was the White Queen. The absolute Dominator of the Third Region in the Neighboring World. She was not merely Kurumi's Inverse form. She was a tragic amalgamation—the fusion of Kurumi's Inversed spirit body and the soul of her murdered best friend, Yamauchi Saori. Wielding the Demon King Lucifugus, she possessed absolute control over space, firing bullets named after the twelve constellations of the zodiac.
By all laws of causality, the White Queen should not have existed. Ren's arrival had fundamentally altered the timeline, ensuring Kurumi's Inverse power could no longer manifest in this world. Yet, Ren had personally reached into the void and anchored her existence, rendering her completely independent of the normal time stream.
For Kurumi, however, the White Queen's terrifying power was irrelevant. Her gaze lingered solely because of the soul trapped within—Yamauchi Saori.
The tragedy of her past weighed heavily on the air. Once, Kurumi had been nothing more than an ordinary, carefree young lady from a wealthy family. Her innocent life shattered the afternoon an unknown monster attacked her on her way home from school. She had been saved by Mio Takamiya, a woman who presented herself as a radiant ally of justice. Mio had spun a convincing lie, claiming that Spirits were evil abominations that needed to be eradicated, and begged for Kurumi's help.
Naive and lacking the cynical edge she now possessed, Kurumi had believed her without hesitation. Mio bestowed a Sephira Crystal upon her, transforming her into the Spirit of Time and granting her the Angel Zafkiel. Armed with this power, Kurumi became an executioner, hunting down countless Spirits in the name of justice.
The horrifying truth only surfaced the day she struck down the Spirit of Flame, only to watch the corpse revert into the form of her dearest friend, Saori. Every monster she had slaughtered had been a human girl. She had murdered her own friend. Mio Takamiya had played her for a fool.
The sheer weight of that revelation nearly forced Kurumi to Inverse on the spot. Only her desperate, reflexive use of the Fourth Bullet, Dalet, reversed her own time enough to stabilize her collapsing mind.
When she finally confronted Mio with the truth, the Origin Spirit simply banished her to the Neighboring World. Kurumi wandered that desolate dimension for an unknown eternity before finally clawing her way back to the real world, her memories wiped clean. She knew nothing of her identity, her past, or her sins. She only knew she held the Angel Zafkiel.
It was the Tenth Bullet, Yud, that eventually pierced the fog in her mind, flooding her brain with the agonizing memories of Mio's deception. From that day forward, Kurumi swore to rewrite history, no matter the blood she had to spill.
And now, standing beside her was the one man capable of turning that impossible vow into reality.
"I'm ready." Kurumi exhaled a long, trembling breath. She braced herself to face her darkest nightmare.
The White Queen remained entirely expressionless. As an independent entity forged from two fractured souls, she felt no attachment to the names Kurumi or Saori. She was simply the White Queen. The agonizing emotional baggage of the past meant nothing to her. In her pristine crimson eyes, the entire world was utterly worthless. She watched Ren, and only Ren.
"Since you are prepared, I will show you the future that originally belonged to you," Ren said, his tone casual.
He didn't chant a spell or raise a hand. He simply willed it.
The fabric of reality violently twisted, the colors of the world bleeding together in a nauseating swirl. In the span of a single heartbeat, the environment stabilized.
"Here..." Kurumi whispered, her breath catching in her throat. She stared at the painfully familiar streets. This was ground zero. The exact starting point of her inescapable destiny.
A terrified, youthful scream shattered the silence. Down in the alleyway below their suspended vantage point, a younger version of Kurumi was scrambling backward, desperately trying to escape a looming monster.
"Looking at yourself completely paralyzed by fear and running for your life... what exactly goes through your mind, Kurumi?"
Ren's dry teasing earned him a vicious glare. Kurumi ignored the bait. Her muscles coiled tight, her boots shifting as she prepared to dive down and obliterate the monster, aiming to sever the root of her tragedy right here and now.
Before she could drop, Ren's fingers clamped around her wrist like a vice.
"Hmm? Didn't you promise to help me stop everything from playing out the way it originally did?"
Kurumi snapped her gaze to him, her eyes burning with urgency.
"You are far too impatient, Kurumi," Ren explained, his voice a calm anchor against her rising panic. "Changing anything down there right now is entirely pointless. This is an isolated timeline I severed from the main branch. Even if you slaughter every monster in this city, it won't alter a single second of the true timeline."
"Then why bring me here?" she demanded, her voice tight.
"Just keep watching." Ren tilted his chin toward the alleyway.
The space above the cowering young Kurumi suddenly rippled like water. A woman materialized from the distortion, draped in an ethereal, breathtakingly luxurious dress.
"It's her!"
Kurumi gasped. The shock in her eyes instantly melted into a venomous, burning hatred. Her jaw locked tight, her teeth grinding together loud enough to be heard. She would never, ever forget that silhouette.
The Origin Spirit. Mio Takamiya.
