Ivory gazed at the abyss as something in the shadows of the endless daylight stared right back at her. The inhuman wall of flesh had glanced at her and attempted to cling its body to their car.
One of the decayed heads of the twins had begun wrapping around the entire body of the car similar to a snake getting a hold of their prey to suffocate them.
The car shook violently as Abigail and Ivory held onto each other.
There wasn't much time before all of them would be sent to their death.
Faye tried to shift the gear to reverse and get out of the monster's grasp but it was no use. The creature was holding firmly on its target.
Faye turns around swiftly and says calmly, "Ivory. How hungry are you?"
Ivory looks at her with a confused expression on her face, "I could eat? Wait what?"
Faye tosses Ivory a protein bar.
Faye says, "Eat this. We're going to get out of this car. Don't ask me any questions."
Ivory and Abigail both say at once, "WHAT?"
Faye says with frustration, "We don't have much time. Ivory, just eat the damn protein bar."
The older woman in a tattered black jacket unwraps a blue protein bar herself and consumes it in only a few seconds.
Ivory unwraps the generic blue protein bar and quickly scarfs it down.
Faye says, "Alright at the count of three. I will give you both an opening. At that time, the two of you better jump."
Abigail asks quietly, "How about you?"
Faye says with a hint of arrogance, "Yeah I'll be out faster than you lot. Just watch."
Faye turns to face the monster as one of its heads gazes at them out of curiosity to try to figure out what they were all discussing. The second head spun tightly around the car to gain a better grasp of the vehicle.
Faye says, "Three."
The flesh monster pokes one of its heads closer to the windshield of the car.
Faye says, "Two."
The flesh monster uses its long tongue to lick the window.
Faye says, "One."
Faye shows her open palms as a dozen thorn-like bullets shatter the windshield and penetrate the flesh monster's mouth.
The monster loosens its grip for a minute as Ivory and Abigail jump out of the car and fall flat on the floor. The windshield recomposes itself immediately as if the damage never occurred.
Faye stands in front of Ivory and Abigail and lands on her feet.
The two young women quickly got up and analyzed the grotesque site in front of them.
The twelve foot wall of flesh had two heads and 64 razor sharp teeth in the middle of its body.
The flesh monster puts down their car and laughs as if they were very congested.
The flesh monster says joyfully, "Those thorns were quite yummy. I think you should have a couple of them back to have a little taste, Faye."
The flesh monster releases a storm of the thorn-like bullets at the group.
Faye quickly makes a wall of cactuses appear out of the ground to stop the attack.
One of the thorn-like bullets regardless moved at such a sharp and precise speed it had broken through her wall and pierced her shoulder.
Faye winces, "Ivory. I need you to weigh in here a little."
Ivory looks at her with apprehension, "How do I even help you? How can I fight that thing?"
Faye says, "Slow them down with your ice abilities and drain as much of their energy as possible. These creatures rely on energy as much as we do. That means they have a finite amount of it."
The older woman coughs, "If you don't. We will all die."
Ivory nods with reluctance, "I'll try to slow them down."
In that instant, Ivory felt Abigail's stare pierce through her back. She could guess how Abigail must have wondered how Faye and her were living in a completely different world when the world they all lived in was already filled with something bizarre like the supernatural?
Abigail must have wondered how she fit into both of their worlds? Didn't she?
Ivory glanced back at Abigail for a second as the red snowflake patterned sunburn became visible on her neck.
Ivory said calmly without turning back, "I will keep you safe Abigail. I promise. I can't and I won't let you die here."
Ivory focused only on her ability as the energy flowed through her hands once more and icicles shot out from her finger tips.
This time she would go even beyond that. Her focus had developed from the calmness she felt earlier. The young woman could feel the icicles flying through the air. She could almost become one with these small pieces of ice.
The flesh monster tried to swipe away at the icicles as she focused all her energy into them.
The flesh monster laughed once again as the icicles were consumed by it.
That congested laughter was cut short.
The monster felt its entire body begin to tense up as it couldn't fight back at a coldness that began rising in its body.
The flesh monster says, "WE NEED CALORIES… WE NEED FOOD… WE NEED HEAT…"
The flesh monster desperately tried to grab the corpse of the man Faye killed on the ground as its entire body became paralyzed.
The two heads of the twins took a final glance at Ivory, almost trying to memorize her face to remember the woman that had bested them.
The entire monster had then turned to ice.
Faye held her own shoulder for a minute before shaking it out like the injury inflicted on her had never occurred.
The older woman looks at the both of them for a second without saying a word, "Get in the car, you two. The next stop is Sinners' street."
