Chapter 18 - The Runaway Young Lady

"Where's the money? Is this it?"

"..." Aubrey glared at him, remaining stubbornly silent.

"Speak!" A kick landed on him.

"Levi! You fucking dare rob me? Just you wait, my brother definitely won't—"

"Won't my ass!" Another loud slap across the face. "Tell me which pocket you hid your money in, and take it out yourself!"

"I-I really only brought this much!" With the effects of the Shimmer wearing off and having been severely beaten by Levi head-on, Aubrey had unknowingly reverted to the cowardly fat man who only looked fierce on the outside.

"Aren't you the fucking brother of the gang boss? You only have these few Silver Wheels on you?"

"It's exactly because my brother is the boss that I only brought a few Silver Wheels." Aubrey even felt a little wronged. "Hardly anyone dares to charge me when I buy things in Zaunite shops. There's no use bringing more..."

"Motherfucker!" The Zaunite profanity and slaps rained down again. "You're a gangster, huh?! You don't pay for things, huh?! You wanted me to work as a gigolo to pay off my debt, huh!!"

"S-stop hitting me..." The fat Aubrey rolled across the street from the beating. "Piltover is a society of law and order! What you're doing is illegal!"

"Illegal my ass!" Levi ruthlessly beat up the gang boss before finally stopping, satisfied as he weighed the few Silver Wheels that had 'dropped' from his enemy.

For a pauper like him, this amount of money was actually quite a lot.

Of course, besides the money, he also snatched the remaining half-bottle of Shimmer potion that Aubrey hadn't finished.

This stuff was dangerous, but for someone like him who was already driven into a corner, the danger of the Shimmer potion could long be ignored.

Levi's actions left the surrounding onlookers completely dumbfounded.

Especially his good coworker, Baku.

"L-Levi..." Baku looked utterly shocked.

He wasn't shocked by how strong Levi was—after all, he had never seen Levi fight before. Zaunites fought and killed each other every day, so it was normal for someone with decent skills to occasionally emerge.

Surprised as he was, that wasn't the most shocking part.

What truly shocked and terrified Baku was that Levi actually dared to humiliate and beat up the fat Aubrey, the brother of the Iron Fist Gang's boss.

He even reverse-robbed the gang leader!

"Levi, you're in deep trouble now..."

"So be it." Levi didn't care at all.

He had already offended Aubrey and the Iron Fist Gang to the bitter end, so why should he show any mercy?

It was better to put him in the hospital for a few extra days, so there would be one less enemy to deal with when they came looking for him next time.

Conveniently, he could also raise some funds for his escape from this bastard.

"But..." Baku wanted to say something else in concern.

"Cut the crap!" Levi glanced at Aubrey, who was paralyzed on the ground, and suddenly cursed at Baku coldly. "Talking so much, aren't you just afraid that I'll run away and not pay back your money?"

"When you were watching me get beaten up just now, why didn't I see you being so enthusiastic?"

"Huh?" Baku was stunned.

"Levi, what are you talking about? When did I ever lend you—"

"Let me tell you!" Levi cut him off directly. "I'm not paying back that money. Anyway, I can't stay in Piltover anymore. If you have the guts, come collect the debt yourself!"

"You..." Baku seemed to realize what was happening. "Levi, fuck you! I treated you as a friend and even lent you my wages to spend, and this is how you fucking repay me?!"

"You bastard, stop right there!"

"Heh." Levi ignored him, turned his head, and walked away.

"Are you protecting him?" Janna asked.

"Yeah." Levi sighed helplessly.

Gangs were enemies with absolutely no bottom line. If Aubrey still thought Baku was his friend, it was highly likely that Baku would be kidnapped by the Iron Fist Gang and tortured as a hostage after he left.

So he had to "break ties" with Baku.

Fortunately, Baku was also smart enough to play along and sever their relationship.

"Will this really work?" Janna was also worried about this innocent child. "Won't they see through it?"

"It should work." Levi was quite confident about this.

"With Aubrey's IQ, he won't be able to process it."

However, he still had lingering worries. After all, aside from Baku, who was now considered out of the picture, the person he worried about most was his sister, Lina.

Levi knew that the original owner of his body had borrowed from the Iron Fist Gang's loan sharks. So these thugs knew exactly where he lived and how many people were in his family.

Not to mention that the Zaunite community he lived in was originally the stronghold of Zaunite gangs like the Iron Fist Gang. The criminal underworld was deeply entrenched there, with enemy thugs and informants everywhere.

As soon as the severely injured Aubrey was discovered by the Iron Fist Gang, they would quickly come knocking on his door.

He didn't have much time left.

'I wonder if Lina went to school today.'

If Lina had already gone to school, Levi could rest easy.

After all, no matter how bold the Iron Fist Gang was, they would absolutely never dare to snatch someone from the highest academic institution in Piltover.

But if Lina didn't have morning classes and was still at home instead of at school... then she might be in danger.

'I need to hurry home and check.'

Levi unconsciously endured the pain of his wounds and hurriedly quickened his pace.

Only then did he have the time to chat with Janna. "Janna, what's the deal with this sudden new believer? Who is he?"

"I'm not entirely sure either."

"Then do you know where he is?"

"I don't." Janna replied helplessly.

During the peak of the Storm's Fury's power, she could even cover the entire ocean with her divine sense, accurately pinpointing the location of her believers amidst the vast waves.

But now...

"I can only roughly sense his direction—"

"It's in that direction."

Saying that, Janna lifted her wings.

'That direction is...'

There were many things in that direction—parks, theaters, plazas.

But the only place Levi could think of that might have any connection to him was:

'The University of Piltover?'

Across the street, at Ivern's house.

Ivern had been holding the curtains tightly shut, refusing to let Seraphine look.

His daughter had always been well-protected, and he couldn't let her see a Shimmer-crazed maniac lashing out. That would definitely leave her with psychological trauma.

Or so the old father thought.

But Seraphine remained fixated on Levi outside the window.

Even though she was held back tightly by her parents, she continued to listen through the curtains, intoxicated by the soul melody Levi was playing outside.

However, soon...

"The music stopped," Seraphine suddenly opened her eyes.

"You can't hear it anymore?" Ivern thought his daughter's abilities had uncontrollably failed again.

"No, he stopped singing."

"Sigh..." Mr. Ivern and his wife exchanged a glance, both realizing something with complex expressions.

They knew the battle was over.

Levi was definitely dead.

He might have even been torn to pieces.

As for whether he was torn into a few pieces or dozens of pieces... that depended on exactly how crazy that Shimmer maniac had gotten.

"Sigh..." Ivern let out a long sigh.

Perhaps he should have intervened earlier. If he had acted sooner, he wouldn't have let the conflict escalate into such a massacre.

But he didn't think he was wrong either. What if he had intervened? There were too many people like Levi in Zaun; he couldn't save them all.

He still had to expand his business, make more money, and buy Raw Hextech Crystals to cure his daughter's illness.

He couldn't manage other people's affairs.

"Right, Levi said he has a sister in university..."

Ivern thought that perhaps he could pay off the loan shark debt Levi left behind and sponsor his sister through university. If his sister was willing to work hard, she could live a happy life in Piltover in the future.

This way, he could at least have a clear conscience.

Just as Ivern was having these complicated thoughts...

Seraphine took advantage of his momentary distraction, ran over, and pulled the curtains open again.

"Seraphine, don't look!!" Ivern hurriedly tried to cover his daughter's eyes.

But it was already too late...

The tragedy happening outside the window was laid bare before the family.

They all clearly saw across the street:

Levi was viciously kicking a pitiful fat man, cursing at him while robbing him of a few Silver Wheels.

Then he followed up with several loud slaps, chatted with his friend for a bit, and finally turned and left, looking completely satisfied.

Ivern and his wife: "..."

Holy shit, holy shit, holy shit, this young man!

He even beat someone who took Shimmer?!

Ivern only just realized that there was actually such a fierce Zaunite macho man among his apprentices!

"Oh no!"

After being stunned for a long time, the old father suddenly felt that something was wrong.

Sure enough, when he turned his head, his daughter was gone.

"Dad, Mom!" Seraphine had already slipped out, running so fast it was as if she had activated Ghost; it was too late to stop her. "I'm going to find that Levi, I'll be back later!"

"Seraphine, stop right there!"

Seraphine turned a deaf ear, having already run out the door.

"You brat! Do you even know where that kid lives?" Ivern shouted anxiously at his rebellious daughter's back. "Those apprentices all live in the Zaunite community, it's very dangerous there! You'll get into trouble if you go!!"

"Huh?" Seraphine paused slightly, her footsteps actually slowing down.

"Oh right... I don't even know where Levi lives yet."

"Dad—thanks for telling me!"

"..." The old father's vision went dark, and he almost passed out.
