The impact of the hurricane drill turned the platform into a localized wind tunnel. Carod's mechanical joints whined under the immense stress, but his trajectory was unyielding as he brought the fight directly to the myth of the void.
[The Alpha Strike]
BOOM!
With a concussive shockwave that blasted the surrounding silver dust into a roaring ring, Captain Carod landed his punch directly onto the middle head of the Cerberus. The hyper-pressurized Hurricane Drill ground relentlessly into the beast's hard, dark matter snout, tearing through its void-infused hide and forcing a deep, guttural screech from its throat.
But a creature of hell doesn't fall from a single frontal assault.
Sensing its central brain being suppressed, the Cerberus's left and right heads snapped sideways, their jaws unhinging to reveal rows of jagged, pitch-black teeth dripping with acidic void-saliva. They lunged from both flanks simultaneously, snapping toward Carod's exposed mechanical shoulders to tear his chassis from his biological frame.
Carod's internal hazard sensors flared a bright, warning red. Activating his feet thrusters at maximum reverse output, he disengaged his drill and shot backward, his heavy titanium boots skidding across the obsidian platform as he created a safe distance of a few dozen meters.
He glanced at the glowing crimson countdown timer flashing at the top corner of his HUD. The digital numbers were mercilessly bleeding away.
"We don't have enough time to play around with this multi-headed mutt!" Carod growled over the internal comms, his massive hands locking into a heavy charging position. His backup battery core began to spin at triple its normal operating speed, generating a high-frequency hum that vibrated through the entire platform.
"[TYPE SWITCH: ELEMENTAL FUSION]!"
[The Galactic Betting Pool]
High above the planet's atmosphere, on the bridge of the orbital mothership, the live stream metrics were spiking into territory the network had never seen before.
SK slammed both hands onto the broadcasting terminal, leaning so close to the microphone his visual scanners were flashing.
"Can the entire galaxy see this?!" SK screamed into the transmission channel, his face glowing with pure showman adrenaline. "Our glorious king! The captain of the Northern Galaxy Protector Squad! The absolute shield of the vanguard, Captain Carod, is activating his legendary Elemental Fusion! This is a forbidden class-switch, viewers! If anyone in the live chat can correctly guess which two elements he is going to combine right now, I will personally reward them with 1000 Gold Coins from the squad's treasury! Drop your guesses now!"
The live forum box on the screen completely melted down, the comments flying past at a speed that nearly crashed the spaceship's mainframe:
User_SolarFlare99: "1000 GOLD COINS?! It's definitely Wind + Lightning! He used Inferno Volt before, he's going for the ultimate storm combo! Let me win!"
ManhwaFan_01: "No way, he just came out of Hurricane Form! It's got to be Wind + Earth for a localized meteor storm! Carod, don't miss!"
Z_Rank_Watcher: "Bro, whatever it is, he needs to do it in 5 seconds. Look at the dungeon timer, they have like 12 minutes left! "
Galaxy_Brain_99: "Wait... look at the charging color in his left and right vents. It's blue and orange... is he mad?!"
[The Paradoxical Frost]
Back on the metallic stage of the Third Floor, the ambient temperature around Carod's massive frame suddenly shattered into two conflicting zones.
From his left shoulder vents, a torrent of hyper-concentrated, brilliant orange thermal energy erupted, melting the silver obsidian floor beneath his left foot into a bubbling puddle of slag. From his right shoulder vents, a freezing, pale-blue blizzard mist cascaded downward, instantly freezing the moisture in the vacuum and creating jagged spikes of absolute-zero ice around his right boot.
The two diametrically opposed forces clashed against his armor, creating a loud, violent hiss of pressurized steam.
"[ELEMENTAL FUSION: FIRE LEVEL 2 — BLAZE] AND [WATER LEVEL 2 — BLIZZARD] COMBINE!" Carod bellowed, his voice echoing like an unhinged engine.
He slammed his massive mechanical gauntlets together in front of his chest. The orange plasma of the Blaze and the pale-blue crystalline structures of the Blizzard did not cancel each other out; instead, forced by his core's administrative system, they fused into a swirling, unstable dual-colored vortex of pure kinetic contradiction.
Carod raised his faceplate, his optical visor glowing with a dangerous, multi-colored light as he locked his target onto the charging three-headed beast.
"This is..." Carod growled, the energy around his arms stabilizing into a beautiful, lethal armor of smoking, frozen plasma.
"[FROSTFIRE]!"
The sudden manifestation of the binary element sent shockwaves through the rest of the vanguard, their seasoned eyes immediately analyzing the impossible technique swirling around Carod's chassis.
[The Masterclass Analysis]
"Woah," Techyon muttered, his sapphire eyes widening slightly as his system indicators registered the intense, clashing thermal signatures. "I didn't know the Captain could fuse his elements like that."
"Obviously he can," Yoru replied, crossing her arms as her yellow aura rippled. "But it drains his mana at an ungodly rate. It's a high-risk gamble, especially in a siphon domain like this."
Cynthia stepped forward, her crystalline solar aura humming as she watched the perfect, shifting border where the orange heat and pale-blue frost met. "The Captain perfectly balanced his fire and his ice. If either side wavered by a fraction of a percent, his own gauntlets would have exploded."
"It's more than just a balance," Gaia added, her silver mana tracking the energy output. "Look at the numbers. The Captain's power didn't just increase—it multiplied."
Ruta rubbed his rocky chin, his magma-infused brow furrowing in confusion. "But what is his plan? Why did he fuse two completely opposite elements right now?"
"The Captain wants to make a temperature paradox," Neweland explained, tightening his grip on his fluid trident. "When absolute heat and absolute frost strike the exact same coordinate simultaneously, the physical molecular structure of the target completely shatters from thermal shock."
Watching the magnificent display, Saina practically had stars in her glasses, her mechanical drones recording every angle. "Wow... I want an autograph from the Captain after this raid!"
Nefa slid next to Saina, a smug, playful grin on her face as she flipped her daggers. "Hey, do you need my autograph instead?"
Saina didn't even look away from the battle screen. "No, I don't."
Nefa's ears visibly drooped, her expression instantly turning into a sad, comical pout.
Seeing her friend deflate, Fraxy walked up, placing a gentle, warm hand on Nefa's shoulder with a comforting smile. "Don't worry, Nefa. I will take your autograph."
Nefa's eyes lit up like bright green crystals. "Really?! Fraxy, you are the absolute best!" Without warning, she threw her arms around Fraxy, hugging the support mage tightly while the battle raged on ahead.
[The Paradoxical Dance]
"Captain, dodge the attack!" Lapis suddenly roared, his spinning purple eyes flashing with absolute precision. "He is coming from three directions simultaneously!"
The Cerberus had anticipated Carod's static defense. All three of its gargantuan heads snapped forward at different angles, their jaws unhinging as they fired three separate streams of dark, void-infused flames from their mouths. The left stream swept from the flank, the right cut off the escape route, and the center head blasted a massive pillar straight down the middle, creating an inescapable grid of total incineration.
But Carod didn't flinch.
"[FROSTFIRE ART: DANCE OF A FROZEN RAINBOW]!" Carod bellowed.
Instead of a heavy mechanical dash, Carod's massive frame suddenly blurred into a shimmering, shifting trail of refracted orange and pale-blue light. He completely disappeared from the physical coordinates of the platform, leaving the three streams of hellfire to collide harmlessly against each other in an empty explosion of dark smoke.
The central head of the Cerberus blinked its crimson eyes, its ears twitching frantically as it scanned the empty air. "Where did he go?!"
"Right above you, mutt!" a booming voice echoed from the heavy nebula sky.
High in the air, directly over the beast's center head, Captain Carod hovered, his thrusters burning white-hot as he raised a single, massive gauntlet toward the heavens. The swirling, volatile frostfire energy condensed into a solitary, gargantuan crystalline boulder of frozen plasma that threatened to crush the platform below.
"[FROZEN METEOR]!"
