Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: The Crimson Separation

Wei Chen didn't just touch her; he draped his jacket over her shivering shoulders. To Xuan, this was the ultimate desecration. He surged against the four men holding him, his muscles straining until the seams of his shirt began to pop. "I will kill you, Wei Chen! I will burn your world until there is nothing left but ash!" Xuan's jealousy was no longer a quiet simmer; it was a volcanic eruption. He watched as Ning tried to throw the jacket off, but Wei Chen held her firmly, whispering something in her ear that made her sob harder. "What is he saying to you, Ning? Is he telling you how much better your life will be without the monster?" Xuan mocked, his voice breaking with an extreme level of cryingness. He felt a profound sense of misery—the woman he would die for was being "rescued" by the man he loathed most. Ning struggled against Wei Chen's grip, her eyes fixed on Xuan's pinned form. "Xuan, I love you! Don't believe what you're seeing! I'm coming back for you!" she wailed, her voice raw from hours of screaming. But as the guards began to drag Xuan toward the back exit to a waiting police van, the distance between them grew. "You won't come back," Xuan whispered, a single, bitter tear falling down his face. "You'll look at your mother, you'll look at the debt, and you'll realize I'm the only thing standing in the way of your 'peace'." The misunderstanding was a wall of reinforced concrete between them. He believed she was choosing her family's safety over his heart; she believed she was saving his life by not resisting the "rescue." As they were forced into separate vehicles, the extreme level of their longing turned into a physical pain. Ning beat her fists against the tinted glass of the Wei family's car, her face pressed against the window as she watched Xuan's van disappear around the corner. "I'm yours! I'm only yours!" she chanted until her voice failed. Back in the van, Xuan sat in the dark, his hands cuffed, his mind replaying the image of Wei Chen's jacket on her shoulders. His possessiveness had turned into a cold, lethal vow. If the world wanted to keep them apart, he would simply have to destroy the world. The extreme level of his obsession didn't dim with the distance; it focused into a laser-like intent to reclaim his queen, no matter how much blood had to be spilled to wash away the debt.
