Nuwa and Zi Fan were unconscious. An Umbryss in front of them drooled from its bloody mouth. It opened its mouth to eat Zi Fan.
But the monster froze; not only the monster, it seemed like the whole world had been paused.
From Zi Fan's body, his soul came out. He regained consciousness. Before he could understand his situation, his eyes fell on his original body condition.
"No!" With a scream, he closed his eyes. But he did not hear the expected sound. So he opened his eyes and, stunned, he saw the monster was not moving.
"What happened? Why is it standing like a statue?" he thought. "Wait, if my body was there, then how could I be seeing it?" The question terrified him. "Could it be…?"
He slowly looked down. "What the… Am I dead?"
Before he could confirm his situation, a thunderous voice boomed in his mind.
It was grand and majestic: "What could you sacrifice to protect yourself and your new family?"
Zi Fan did not answer. He knew the voice; it was the same voice that gave him one hour of life. But this time, unlike his previous life, he asked, "Who are you?"
"Do you want to save your family or not?" the voice asked, ignoring Zi Fan's question completely.
Zi Fan fell silent, but it was not for long. He answered, "Of course. What sacrifice do you need?"
"Well, you are smart. I shall take a part of your future." It paused, then continued, "I shall imprison your soul and your intelligence for twenty years. Do you accept?"
Zi Fan understood what it was demanding. It was not just losing twenty years of life; it was losing the love of the family he had never experienced. And for a man, his most happiest time of life is his childhood.
But what could he even do after grasping what he might lose? If he did not accept, then his whole family would be dead. So, he chose to be a fool for twenty years.
"I accept."
Boom…
As Zi Fan's voice left his lips, time and space returned to normal.
And the monster that was trying to eat Zi Fan was totally erased from existence.
Zi Fan's body started to glow as it flew upward.
From it,
A beautiful, ethereal, angelic woman came out.
She had long, flowing silver-white hair that blended softly with the pale, icy surroundings. Her eyes were a gentle light blue, giving her a calm yet slightly melancholic expression. Delicate snowflakes seemed to fall around her, enhancing the serene and magical atmosphere.
She wore an elegant white gown made of soft, layered fabric that looked light and almost translucent. The dress was decorated with intricate silver details, lace patterns, and sparkling ornaments shaped like snowflakes. Around her neck and wrists were fine silver jewelry pieces, including a detailed choker and dangling crystal-like charms. She also wore white gloves that added to her refined, graceful appearance.
A floral, icy crown rested on her head. Behind her were large, majestic white wings, spread gently as if protecting her.
She looked like a snow angel or an ice goddess—pure, elegant, and otherworldly.
Her lips moved; a gentle and cold voice echoed.
"Kids, I don't know why, but the supreme chose you, so you must not die so soon before you can complete your mission." But Zi Fan only saw the beautiful goddess-like woman's lips moving; he could not hear any of it.
On her face was a look of guilt.
"Forgive me, my emperor, for disobeying your order." She paused and tried to kneel down, but it seemed like she could not. With a heavy sigh, she stopped trying. She murmured in a low tone, "For that, I shall accept death."
Then her voice became majestic, like a supreme goddess giving orders.
"In the name of the Supreme Emperor, I, one of his slaves, command the Heavenly Dao: all human-eating monsters shall die and cannot enter within a thousand kilometers around this house."
Purple mist came from the east. All living beings of this world felt a grand and majestic will staring at them.
Immediately they knelt down. Every single one of them, even the most powerful demon emperor.
In the sky, a purple eye opened, then it took human form and knelt before the beautiful woman.
"I obey."
Boom.
A white light glowed from that kneeling figure and spread around Zi Fan and covered a thousand kilometers.
All kinds of monsters were instantly erased from existence.
She looked towards Zi Fan's father's side, and all Zi Fan's father's injuries were healed instantly; only blood and torn clothes remained as silent witnesses to his brutal fight.
"Tsk, tsk… I cannot understand why a talent like you did not practice dark matter. If you had done it, I would not have had to sacrifice myself for your little family," she murmured and looked to the Heavenly Dao. "You can leave now."
The figure vanished, and all living beings of this world forgot what had happened after the Heavenly Dao appeared. Even Zi Fan.
[Error, error.
System broke its rules; system temporarily shut down.]
A cold and machine-like voice echoed in Zi Fan's mind, but before he could look at the system screen, his soul returned to his little body and was sealed away.
The woman looked toward the sky and a single drop of tear came from her eyes. She sighed, "Emperor, it is really sad that I could not see you again," she murmured.
Zi Fan's body glowed faintly. Seeing this,
"Here it comes, kid. I only gave you 20 years of safety. I can see that in the near future, this world will be too chaotic."
She looked at Zi Fan with some annoyance as she muttered to herself.
Several chains burst out from Zi Fan's body, shot toward the fairy-like girl, bound her tightly, and dragged her back to him. She did not resist.
Even if she resisted, it would be of no use.The emperor's authority would be unquestionable .
Note about Heavenly Dao
Heavenly Dao means the "Way of Heaven," and it refers to the natural rules that control everything in it world. It is not a physical being or a god, but more like an invisible system that decides how everything works. Things like day and night, life and death, cause and effect, and balance in nature all follow the Heavenly Dao.
In simple terms, it is the law of reality. Everything in existence is believed to move according to it, whether people understand it or not. If something happens, there is always a reason or consequence, and that flow of order is part of the Heavenly Dao.
