The barrier that has been protecting a thousand-kilometre radius around Zi Fan's house finally shattered after twenty years.
A thunderous, glass-breaking booming sound echoed through the air.
As Zi Fan's father heard it, his earlier joy vanished. The hidden painful memory of twenty years ago and the warning of the fairy that he had buried deep inside his heart now came to life, turning his face gloomy.
Zi Fan noticed that instantly. He asked worriedly, "Father, what's wrong and what was that sound?" But inside his mind, he couldn't help but question himself, "Isn't that the sound of breaking glass? But in my memory, I have never seen or heard about glass in this world." The question made him curious.
But before he could think further, his father's voice broke his thoughts, "Nuwa, do you remember what I said twenty years ago?"
His mother, who was a little confused by the unexpected sound, suddenly froze. Her pupils shrank as if she had thought of some horrific possibility. She immediately stood up and moved fast towards the side hall.
Now Zi Fan was totally lost, but he could feel the tension. To know what really happened, he looked toward his father for an answer.
Meeting his son's puzzled look, he solved his doubt by answering, "An army of monsters called Umbryss should be on their way." To make sure his son understood better, he added, "The army will kill every single human in its way."
Zi Fan's body went deathly still. His father expected that, but he didn't have time to comfort him. He ignored him and walked away into the inner hall.
Zi Fan only came out of his shock when he was the only one in the dining room. He wanted to ask more about the news, but he found out his father was already gone.
Yet, Zi Fan didn't go out to find his father. He stood there in silence. The memory of twenty years ago, when he first arrived in this world, began to replay itself. The Umbryss, his father walking towards death, seeing his mother and himself near death, and his sacrifice to the goddess.
Unconsciously, he clenched his fists so hard that his hands trembled. A bone-chilling killing intent spread around him. "Again, that monster race again," in rage, he hit the dining table. The table smashed, and wooden pieces of it scattered all around the room. But he gave no mind to it.
He murmured, "Hah, last time I was just a baby." He paused, raised his fist a little, "But this time..." He chuckled coldly.
Taking a deep breath, he calmed himself a little and whispered, "System."
An illuminated dark golden screen appeared before him.

Zi Fan, with two unblinking eyes, stared at the system screen with confusion. He couldn't stop himself from thinking, "Before, my system was only an empty screen. Then what is this? And where is that lazy goddess voice?"
He called again, "System, system," but no answer came. Even the screen remained the same, but it was there. After trying some more, he gave up and began examining the system screen.
Only seeing three buttons with titles and no explanation about their function, he cursed the lazy goddess in his heart. He clicked those buttons, hoping for some reaction, but there was none.
"Zi Fan." A woman's voice pulled him back from his experiment. Zi Fan looked ahead, and his mouth went wide open in surprise.
His mother, Nuwa, in pure white, sharpened armor and holding the Zhangba Serpent Spear, was looking at him with her white eyes.
Ignoring her son's stunned expression, she ordered him, "Go to the inner hall. Your father is waiting."
As Zi Fan heard his mother's words, he finally came back from his astonishment. He closed his mouth, but again opened it to ask why she was like this, because he clearly remembered when his father was going to hunt the Umbryss, his mother only cried to stop him and was so fragile at that time.
But looking at her ice-cold eyes, he wisely shut his mouth and walked to the inner hall.
While walking, he thought, "What happened in these twenty years? This childish memory didn't know much. And what about the system? Isn't it supposed to be active after I gave my goal to her? But now... Well, I will think about that after this issue."
His house was not big, so he soon came to his destination with some excitement, because before, his parents never allowed him to enter that room. After coming before the inner hall, he knocked on the door, "Father, I'm here."
From inside, "Come in." He opened the door and walked into it with curiosity, but he never expected to see this. In front of him was a room decorated with Tang Dao, Jian, Butterfly Sword, Battle Axe, Spear, Halberd, and many more. When his eyes went to the center—
A man wearing black armor was unboxing something. At his waist rested a finely crafted sword, while behind him stood a dragon-themed spear. He was looking for something in a box.
But Zi Fan was not as surprised as before when he saw his mother. He clearly remembered that in the past, every time he went near his father, he would see him practicing with many weapons or teaching his students to fight.
After locating his father, he closed in. Without looking back, his father told him, "On your right side, I arranged a weapon and armor for you. Get dressed up quickly."
Zi Fan turned right, and he was welcomed by a two-headed black axe that was lying on a three-foot-high stone tablet. The stone tablet was a little cracked by the weight of the axe.
"Father, it looks like that axe is a little big for me."
His father turned around with a faint smile, saying, "Just try. You could lift it easily."
With a little doubt, Zi Fan followed his father's instruction and tried to lift it....
