Chapter 30 - A DEMON IN WHITE

The wind shifted sharply through the canyon, carrying dust and whispers as Yue Yan stood just

outside the cave of forbidden memories.

Her heart was still unsteady.

Wen Shouye hadn't touched her, but his presence stayed close — like the edge of a flame

brushing her skin, warm and dangerous.

"I need time to think," she said softly.

He gave her a quiet nod, though his golden eyes searched hers. "Take it. But don't take too long,

Yue Yan. The stars are already changing."

She turned away, stepping onto the ridge where clouds rolled low.

Then she felt it — a chill in the air, not dark… but sharp.

A new presence.

Not Wen Shouye.

Not celestial.

Not corrupted.

Just… different.

A tall figure stood near the edge of the mountain, cloaked in white and silver. His horns curved

gently backward, and his skin was pale as snow, with long black hair that rippled like water in

the breeze.

His eyes, however, were soft — not full of rage like most demons — but clear and quiet.

Yue Yan stepped forward cautiously.

"You're a demon," she said plainly.

He bowed respectfully. "I am. My name is Bai Sui."

Wen Shouye's tone turned sharp. "You shouldn't be here."

But Bai Sui didn't move. "And yet, I am. I bring a message — not from the Demon Realm, but

from a place even your shadows cannot touch."

Yue Yan tilted her head. "What message?"

Bai Sui looked at her with calm eyes.

> "The one who carries the flame of the Azure must not be left alone. The storm that sleeps in

his heart… is older than gods."

Yue Yan's breath caught. "You mean… my brother."

Bai Sui nodded once. "He is waking something buried. Something even the Celestial Court has

long feared."

Wen Shouye narrowed his eyes. "Why help us? You're not one of ours."

Bai Sui turned toward him. "Not all demons serve chaos. Some of us still remember what

balance feels like."

He took a small scroll from his robe and handed it to Yue Yan.

> On it was a symbol she'd only seen once before — glowing on Ao Xuan's chest.

Her heart skipped.

"Tell Yue Yun to be careful," Bai Sui said. "He is being watched… by something far worse than

gods."

Then he vanished. Wen Shouye stepped close to her, silent for a long moment.

"What will you do now?" he asked.

Yue Yan looked out into the clouds, her hands tight around the scroll.

"…I'm going to him."
