Chapter 29 - The Pull of the Heart

You don't fall in love again in a moment…

You fall in small, unnoticed pieces."

That night—Aanya couldn't sleep. She lay awake, staring at the ceiling, her thoughts refusing to quiet down. Again and again The same moments replayed. His silence. His care. His restraint.

Why is he changing…? Her fingers curled slightly under the blanket. Or… was he always like this?

Her mind fought back. No. He hurt you. He broke you. But her heart—Didn't argue. It only remembered— The way he didn't force her today. The way he stepped back. The way he noticed her pain.

She turned to her side, closing her eyes tightly. This doesn't change anything… But somewhere deep inside—Something had already started to shift.

The next day

The library opened like always. Calm. Routine. But Aanya wasn't the same today.

She was aware of him. Even without looking. Every movement. Every presence. Every silence. Riaan didn't approach her. Didn't speak unnecessarily. But his eyes—

Still followed her. Not possessively. But protectively. A group of customers entered. Loud. Careless. One of them pushed a stack of books accidentally. They started falling Before Aanya could react—A hand held them. Strong. Steady. She looked up. Riaan. Standing close. Too close.

For a second—Neither moved. Neither spoke.

Aanya stepped back first. Breaking the moment.

"Thank you," she said softly.

Riaan nodded. No extra words. No unnecessary closeness. Just… understanding.

He's not forcing anything…That thought stayed. Unsettling.Different. Later—She searched for a book on a high shelf. Stretching slightly. Struggling.

Before she could reach—The book was placed in her hand. No Words She turned. But he had already walked away. Her grip tightened around the book. Why did that feel… different? The library quieted down. Golden sunlight entered through the windows. Aanya sat alone at her desk. Writing. Thinking. Riaan walked past her.

Slowly. Without stopping. But just as he crossed—He paused.

"Did you eat?" Simple. Normal. Concerned.

Aanya looked up. Caught off guard.

"I… will," she replied.

His Reply

"Don't skip it."And he walked away.

That shouldn't have mattered. But it did. Too much.

For the first time—Aanya didn't feel just anger when she thought of him.She felt—Something else.Something softer.Something dangerous.

🌧️ Meanwhile – Riaan

Standing outside—Riaan looked at the sky.A faint breath leaving his lips.

I don't want to force her…I just want her to feel… that I'm still here.

Inside—Aanya sat quietly. Her hand resting on the table. Lost in thought.Because somewhere—Without realizing—Her heart had taken its first step…Back toward him.
