Chapter 46 - Chapter 46: An Unwanted Friendship

Chapter 46: An Unwanted Friendship

...

I got out of bed, excited for today's activities. First days of school are the most important because they shape the persona or rather identity others see you as for the rest of your life.

I put on my uniform with practiced grace, styling my hair to be let down, with a single braid tied with a violet ribbon. I put on my glasses to look extra intimidating.

Once satisfied, I picked up Mochi and headed for campus. My heels clicking again the tiled floor like a count down.

This is where my legacy begins....

....

I walked through the corridor with my head held high, and my face neutral. Holding my bag in one arm as mochi walked beside me like a page performing it's duties.

The halls buzzed with cliche chatter among students. However a few stalled and stared

My measured movements were calm and unhurried. My presence alone was enough to draw attention to my form without saying a word.

My soft fox ears twitched slightly atop my head, immediately becoming the center of everyone's attention. My a large fox tail swayed elegantly with each step i took.

The students stared shamelessly.

"Wait... that's the new student?"

"She's gorgeous..."

"Are those ears real?!"

"No way, she looks so beautiful...."

"I wonder which noble house she's with.."

I paid none of the whispers any mind. My purple eyes sweeping the hall with analystic precision

"She's intimidating..."

"But elegant at the same time..."

"Do you think she talks to people?"

The girls admired my beauty while several boys immediately looked away the moment I glanced in their direction,

Seems like my villainess aura is at its peak!

A couple of girls walked up to me excitedly.

"Wow, you must be prince's Nathaniel's fiancee, right?"

"So beautiful and cute..."

"Your hair is so silky too...is that natural as well?" One of them felt up a lock of my hair with consent.

I scrunch my nose in disgust before slapping her hand away.

"How rude, please keep your hands to yourself..." I said sharply

She flinched like I'd slapped her face. Her friends immediately backed her up.

"How mean! We were just-..."

"What's going on here?" A sweet voice echoyin our direction.

I stared ahead as a familiar pink haired girl approached us with curious eyes.

Amber hunt.

"Miss amber please don't trouble yourself...."

"This girl was just being unreasonable...."

"She called us rude when we were just trying to be nice..."

"It that true?" Amber asked staring at me.

"They were acting inappropriate, touching someone you barely know intimately is highly disrespectful..." I said bluntly

Amber walked up to me and held my hands in a friendly gesture

"I understand your reasoning but acted cold isn't that answer, just apologize and I'm sure they'll forgive you..." She smiled

I jerked my hands away, unfazed by her kind, childish words.

"I kindly refuse..." I turned around and walked away, Mochi trailing behind.

I walked into the library, hoping to grab some history books to read after classes. I'd just reached the elven section when I felt a presence behind me.

"Your here early..."

I turned around to see none other than Nathaniel

"Good morning to you too. Yes I'd thought I'd read a bit before class .." I explained

He rested his hand against the bookshelf as he stared at me with interest.

"What is it?"

"I see your wearing the ribbon..." He grinned staring at the hair tied braided into my singular braid.

I tensed up at his observation. I'd forgotten the ribbon was a gift from him.

"Yes...so I am..." I said, trying to sound unbothered.

He leaned in close enough, whispering into my

"I'm glad...." He pulled away like it was nothing. I froze, unable to process what just happened, nearly dropping my books.

The hell?!

I excused myself before sprinting out of there. Not wanting to catch Nate's smug grin.

...

I got to class on time and immediately took the last sit in the back row by the window. Pure anime protagonist assigned sit.

I scouted the the classroom, glancing through every potential ally or threat.

Most of them seemed harmless enough, however the social hierarchy wasn't subtle. It was intentionally clear that humans still held Superiority, while the elven girls are beast Human girls were seen as nothing more than fetish beauty to org at for the males fantasy.

I simply ignored them and stared at my book.

"Shiori?!" I looked up to see jasmine walking towards me all excited

"Hey jasmine..." I greeted politely.

"I'm so excited to spend the school year with you!" She squealed.

"Me too" I nodded as she took the sit beside me. I was also hoping for Mia to be in the same class but she's a second year.

The teacher Walked into the class and begun the basic introduction.

He was a young looking man with a decent build, with Long brown hair done in a losse braid tied with a green ribbon, his eyes were hazel with a golden flex.

"I'm Mr Alvin Smith, and I'll be your homeroom teacher for this year...." He said flashing a small smile. He picked up his attendance sheet and called our names one by one, actually pronouncing the difficult ones with care instead of butchering the names like some substitute teacher from my old highschool.

"Shiori Komori?" He called. I stood up and nodded before immediately sitting back down.

.....

After class, miss Eris walked up to me.

"You are shiori correct?" I nodded.

"There's a student here that proposed a solution to the situation of abandoned neighboring villages aroud draco city...."

"And How does that affect me?"

"It's bizarre, and unrealistic. We wish to hand this back to her but wish to soften the blow of critism with a student delivering the message instead of comforting her directly..." She explained.

"I see" dumping your workload on me , how annoying

"Mind if I proofread it...?"

"Feel free" she shrugged and walked away.

I stared at the head of the file. It said FutureChanges in cursive. I opened the file and read the first page. My nose scrunching in disgust as I read line by line.

I could immediately tell who wrote such nonsense, despite the students name was written on the file. As well as her personal information

So that girl from a few days ago is a commoner...

At least she has living parents!

Light magic huh, compared to my other affinities, light magic is the weakest. I can still heal much more effectively with my skills and potions though...

Now that I thinks about it all my male friends are all really good looking and a cute commoner girl like her is also attracting many eyes her way...

"Could it be?...." My gaze turned serious...

That, that girl is one of that bitch of a goddess's summoned heroes?!

.....

I waited till lunch break before heading to the schools garden. The place was crowded with nobles sitted on laid blankets like some picnic retreat.

Sitted among the few chairs and table by the water fountain, the pink haired girl sat comfortable with a few males students surrounding her like lost puppies. The guy sitted across from her was a loli looking guy seeming politely bit his eyes held an empty stare.

"Ahh~ lady shiori..." Amber smiled as I headed to her table .

"Quite the tea party..."

"Would you be going us?" She asked

"Highly unlikely, I just came to return something as a request for a teacher. However I wish to hear your own opinion..."

That's when she noticed the file in my hands

"Is that?" She gasped

"Indeed, it's your essay you submitted as a noble gestured. It got quite the review that the teachers kept the original and handed me a copy to return..."

"Oh my...." She smiled excitedly.

"So, you believe all people should be equal, despite the various species , and the world is crumbling under they current logic, is that right?.."

"Yes, I believe everyone should be equal , not matter what race. Beasts human kin and lower monsters have been treated so cruelly, ki only hope that we could all move past our differences and live in harmony -"

I didn't let her finish as I threw the file, it's papers scattering away in the wind like a sign.

"How unrealistic and bizarre. Your essay contained nothing but hallow fantasies with zero standing and childish quotes. Honestly it was Such an eye sore that it pained me to read to the very end..." My gazed landed on her sharply as the students near by stopped to watch this unfold.

"Hey!" One of the boys spoke, clearly pissed.

"Then lady shiori, can you tell me what's wrong with my essay?" Amber asked.

"Well for staters, it's impossible for everyone to be be equally regardless of race, that's just naivity..." I stated simply.

"But, if we just give up then nothing will change!" She shot back

"I agree, however, do you really believe signing some peace treaty is going to unite all races in order to get along? How are you even planing on convincing the leaders to do so?"

"I...I could talk to them.."

"And how do you suppose to do that, you have no noble standing let alone any right to demand an audience with anyone from noble society ...."

She had nothing to say about that.

"Just because your blessed with light magic doesn't entitle you to become our savior. In this society magic isn't the only thing that grants power. You have no practically plan nor any financial aid to your claims. From what I read, it just seems like you're performing lip service. That's the real issue with your essay, it lacks approach..."

The Lolita's eyes widened a bit.

"But don't you want to be treated equally, your a beast Human kin after all..."

" My respect is none of your concern. I also disagree with the ideal of pure equality, Thanks to the difference in hierarchy, in wealth , status, looks, even heritage, people thrive through training and knowledge to improve themselves in order to surpass their peers. If everyone was considered equal. Do you really believe that's fair...." I shot back bluntly.

"I just want everyone to be happy..." She sat back down.

"I can't tell if you're playing dumb or just naive. I was hoping for a better debate since you seemed to care about this topic, but it seems like I've wasted my time." I turned away, my hair catching the light as I walked away..

I despise goody two shoes like her, they all lack practical reasoning and pass lip service like a personality trait, knowing well they can't do a damn thing. No matter, I'm not here to play nice.

After all if she wishes to play saint ...

Then I'm playing the villainess....
