After returning from the dungeons, Gideon stopped Viktor in the corridor to confront him.
"Viktor, why did you forgive the Luna Queen? Do you think she will let you live once you marry Edith?" Gideon's harsh tone caught the warrior off guard. For the first few seconds, Viktor stood in silence, struggling to find an answer.
Then, collecting his thoughts, he replied, "Your Highness, I believed that I needed to prove myself worthy to the Luna Queen. That is why I decided to let it go this time. Moreover, I love Edith, and for her sake, I felt it was best to overlook what happened."
Gideon could hardly believe Viktor's naivety. "Good luck then," he scoffed, turning on his heel to walk away.
He reached his parked vehicle in the palace courtyard and settled into the driver's seat. A sudden knock on the window made him tilt his head, where he found a valet standing outside with several gift-wrapped boxes in his arms.
Gideon lowered the glass with the press of a button.
