Asuka Island, The Marine Dojo.
This location, engineered as a training ground for upholding global justice and peace, was now thick with the copper stench of fresh blood and a suffocating green mist.
In the center of the training floor, a man draped in a Marine officer's cloak, his long silver hair falling over his collar—Saga—knelt quietly on the tattered tatami mats with his back to the entrance. Across his knees rested a bizarrely shaped longsword, its steel rippling with cursed, pulsing veins that faintly discharged an ominous green luminescence. The sword seemed to possess a primitive, independent awareness, greedily siphoning the residual blood energy suspended in the heavy air.
"Instructor Saga! The vanguard has collapsed!"
A Marine trainee, his eyes burning with an intense green glare, stumbled across the threshold, his voice cracked with panic. "The entire squad deployed to the village to locate the seal stones has been systematically neutralized! The intruders are high-bounty pirates!"
"Pirates..."
Saga slowly unsealed his eyelids. Those eyes, which had originally belonged to a disciplined, resolute swordsman, were now completely consumed by an eerie, bottomless emerald dark. He pulled his tall frame upright, his fingers closing tightly around the hilt of the humming green blade.
"A trivial disruption. As long as this floor is washed in the blood of high-tier powerhouses, the Shichiseiken's seals will dissolve entirely. Those pirates will serve as excellent sacrifices."
The words had barely left his lips when a rhythmic sound broke the silence outside the doors.
Click, click.
The sound of leather heels stepping along the wooden veranda carried an exceptionally crisp, elegant cadence. Accompanied by the footsteps, a freezing, pale blue aura—far colder than the atmosphere of the dojo, carrying a weight designed to lock a man's soul in ice—slowly slid through the gaps in the sliding screens.
"Yo-ho-ho-ho... utilizing the lifelines of common mortals to nurture its own edge. What a thoroughly malicious demonic blade."
Brook, his tall, slender skeletal frame immaculately turned out in a sharp black tailcoat, stepped smoothly into the corrupted dojo. Within the dark recesses of his empty eye sockets, the pale blue underworld flames of Yomi leaped with absolute excitement.
Behind his stride, Ace entered the floor, his dark red trench coat catching the draft, flanked by Sabo, Carina, and the remaining vanguard. Maya, the shrine maiden they had extricated from the village square, was shivering as she pressed close to Carina's shoulder.
"Saga..." Maya stared at the man who had once been a gentle instructor, her features tightening as tears rimmed her eyes.
"Maya, you've actually guided a wolf pack to my altar," Saga said flatly, his green pupils tracking past the girl to lock onto Ace at the front of the line. The unholy weapon in his grip seemed to calculate the immense vital energy radiating from the captain's torso, letting out a sharp, high-frequency buzz of pure anticipation.
"Perfect profile. If I paint this floor with your blood, the Shichiseiken will achieve its ultimate awakening!"
"Is that green, rusted piece of scrap metal the legendary blade from the intelligence briefs?" Buggy muttered, peering out from behind Jeno's massive mechanical legs, his red nose twitching as his lips curled into a scowl of total disdain. "It lacks visual mass. It doesn't even match the aesthetic of my custom throwing knives."
"Don't miscalculate the weight of that steel," Carina explained solemnly, her hand resting on her notebook. "The historical records indicate that an exceptionally brutal massacre occurred on this island in ancient times. This sword has absorbed the collective blood and resentment of thousands of casualties, transforming into an active spiritual parasite. The moment a swordsman closes his fingers around the grip, his cognitive centers are completely devoured, reducing his biology to a mindless puppet designed strictly to harvest lives."
"Furthermore," Maya added, her voice trembling as she choked back her tears, "The lore states that the Shichiseiken was originally a holy sword bestowed by the heavens. But three ancient princes fell in love with the identical priestess, and to claim her hand, they utilized the royal blade to execute a civil war. That fratricidal bloodbath turned the rivers crimson, and the sword drank the unmitigated hatred of the battlefield, falling from a holy status into a cursed demonic weapon. It discharges a green demonic fire capable of ignoring physical armor to burn the enemy's soul directly! If you are caught within those flames, your spirit and your physical chassis suffer a synchronized annihilation!"
Hearing the definition of soul-burning fire, the officers of the Eclipse Pirates didn't register a fraction of fear. Instead, every eye on the roster turned in perfect, mechanical unison to look at the fleshless skeleton standing at the absolute front of their formation.
"Burning the soul? Yahahaha! That sounds like a specialized nutrient engineered for an old pervert who lacks a physical body!" Enel laughed arrogantly, his current skittering along his staff.
"Yo-ho-ho-ho, that argument carries an exceptional amount of logic," Brook remarked. With flawless, gentlemanly grace, he removed his top hat, offering Saga a light, measured bow. "Though my muscular tissue has been rotting within the sea for fifty winters, my lonely soul has been longing to experience a little bit of 'warmth' from a legendary fire."
"Insolent aberration! Perish! Demonic Fire Slash!"
Saga was thoroughly provoked by Brook's flat indifference. He locked both hands onto the Shichiseiken, driving the steel forward in a sudden, violent thrust.
Whoosh!
A colossal crescent of sword-qi, spanning dozens of meters and burning with a volatile green flame, unrolled across the tatami mats. Accompanied by a piercing, high-frequency shriek that sounded like a chorus of ghosts, the attack tore through the wooden floorboards, racing toward Brook with devastating momentum. Wherever the fire passed, the atmosphere itself distorted under the thermal load of ancient resentment.
Faced with the incoming strike, Brook's boots remained perfectly still against the wood. He didn't shift his weight an inch; his hand simply unsealed the Soul Solid from his cane.
"This density of resentment..."
Within Brook's dark eye sockets, the pale blue fire of the underworld erupted into a sudden, blinding flare. His exceptionally light skeletal chassis instantly unleashed an aura far deeper, darker, and more absolute than the malice of the Shichiseiken—a presence drawn from the freezing depths of the underworld.
"Compared to the absolute, deathly silence and despair I managed during those fifty winters spent drifting alone through the white mists of the ghost ship..."
"Yomi Style: Extreme Cold Snowstorm!"
Brook's right arm transformed into an untraceable, ghostly blue afterimage. The steel of his blade was instantly encased in a thick, crystalline layer of underworld frost, an absolute thermal vacuum that threatened to freeze the surrounding space.
Clang!
A crisp, deafening collision of specialized sword-qi resonated throughout the dojo walls.
Brook's seemingly slender skeletal arm had arrested Saga's ferocious demonic fire slash with a single-handed parry.
"What?!" A flicker of genuine panic crossed Saga's emerald eyes.
His prized Shichiseiken flames, designed to incinerate a man's spiritual core, emitted a shrill, dying hiss the moment they registered contact with Brook's edge. The raging green fire was like a flickering candle dropped into liquid nitrogen, systematically suppressed, frozen, and snuffed out by the terrifying underworld frost leaving Brook's blade.
"How can this baseline exist?! Why does the sword's corruption fail to penetrate your system?!" Saga roared, frantically forcing his vital force into the hilt, attempting to flood Brook's structure with the weapon's ancient malice.
Yet, no matter how much green mist the Shichiseiken spewed, the volatile vapor was instantly frozen into harmless ice shards the moment it brushed Brook's white bones.
"Yo-ho-ho-ho... because my soul has already been tempered within the deep dark of the underworld, turning my baseline completely indestructible," Brook's voice dropped its conversational tone, turning deep, cold, and resonant—the voice of the Soul King.
"Since your cognitive autonomy has been entirely devoured by that steel, let me utilize the chill of the underworld to help your spirit find its release!"
Swish! Swish! Swish!
Brook flicked his wrist, his exquisite, high-velocity fencing forms translating into countless blue afterimages through the green mist. He abandoned all defensive positioning, driving his freezing edge straight into Saga's counter-lines as the green fire flared once more.
Ice and fire—the absolute zero of the underworld meeting the century-old demonic fire of the Shichiseiken. A rare, pure soul-level duel, completely divorced from the standard Haki metrics of the blue seas, erupted within the ancient Marine dojo.
Does Brook intend to cleanly disarm the corrupted instructor to claim the blade without drawing blood, or will the Shichiseiken recognize its physical limitations and attempt to force Saga's biology into a terminal, flesh-sacrificing transformation?
